Of course there is nothing inherently spooky about crows. They are quite fascinating with their high intelligence and antics. That said, I can see why Hitchcock was fond of this location. He could (and did) make it work to his advantage in relation to horror movies, and boy did he flip the genre on it’s head when he eventually made Psycho.
