I have a 700r4 just rebuilt. Will not shift out of 1st until 40-50 mph the shift to second happens around 70-80 then shift to 3rd around 105 have not been able to catch 4th gear. And these speeds are accelerating at a normal speed but does not change with the pedal to the floor
so we dont have any good trans shops in area, i found this video and had a question, i have a 88 suburban, 1-2 and 2-3 shift on point but 3-4 will not shift unless i let off gas or i am barely barely giving it gas. does that sound like a stuck 3-4 valve, trans was rebuilt a few thousand miles ago and never had this problem till recently. tv cable has been adjusted to stock pressure settings

My c1500 with 700r4 is taking a long time to shift from 1st to 2nd has to go to 4000rpm for it to shift to 2nd do you think it has a sticky throttle valve and should i change the tranny fluid
Is this before or after a rebuild? If it is the throttle valve it will effect all the shifts. Not just the 1-2. Are you sure it is shifting to second and not maybe shifting 1-3? Skipping 2nd? Either way, I would be looking at the 2nd apply side of the servo and the 1-2 shift valves. Does it ever shift to 4th? If not, you are looking at something with the band and/or servo, as it is used for both 2nd and 4th.
Throttle valve cable, engine running pull the cable with needle-nose pliers and let it snap back by itself quickly. Governor's raise the rear wheels, get it up to about 20 miles an hour light throttle slamming into reverse back down to drive. Everybody has their own way that's how I used to do it.
So my transmission that was rebuilt a few months ago already has an issue. The 1 to 2 upshift is hard when under about half throttle and also when you get on it while merging. I cant win! Haha
PCM. Only controls lock up on this unit. The modulator controls shift feel, throttle cable controls shift timing on this one. Check the vacuum. Sometimes the port in the throttle body gets plugged, happens more on the Cadillac but can happen on these as well.
in here some trans men dont want to change oil, they says changing oil trans can be not shift. these are like af20 or 4L30E trans. but i think these are a myth. can this problem be in these trans?

More than likely your throttle valve is sticking. That or the governor. This is assuming the cable is adjusted properly.

Something is wrong with the shifter either inside or outside the transmission or the shifter cable/Linkage depending on which you have.

All depends on throttle angle. It can be as early as 25mph and as late as 60. Need to determine exactly what it is doing before you know what to fix.

There are a ton of things that can affect shift feel. Any codes in the system? Even if the light is not on does not mean there are no codes.
Its a 1990 Oldsmobile. Does it even have a trans computer?

Can happen on any transmission. I ask a lot of questions before I will do a fluid change. If it has not been done regularly I won't do it.
