@@redvampalucard7040 To be fair, having been removed for MONTHS out of a DECADE isn't exactly that long, and Cobblemon released early this year. Handcrafting Pokeballs should be the DIY alternative to buying them at marts, which highlights the main problem in Pixelmon to me, which Cobblemon doesn't seem to address Without a server with organized towns and shops and gyms to play in, the game is fun for a moment, and then feels aimless.
The problem with Pixelmon, when I first played it, is that the models are way too sharp and detailed for Minecraft. The main advantage of Cobblemon, at least for me, is that the models still look great while retaining that blocky feel. Sure, it may not have procedurally generated towns, pokemon centers, or NPCs yet, but it still has awhile to go.
@@cinderelennhonestly after playing rlcraft till end game it's wild how bad those mobs look compared to say parasites which actually looks like they belong in mc
@@shyguy4617 To be fair though, Lycanite mobs still feel more “vanilla” than Pixelmon due to them still being somewhat blocky in certain areas. Not to mention that they look like something you would see in CrazyCraft.
i’m hoping one day we get to a point where we don’t even need to compare pixelmon and cobblemon. i hear a lot of folks describe cobblemon as “a better version of pixelmon”. while i’m glad everyone loves this mod, i hope it can eventually blossom and grow into its own thing. i know pixelmon has been out for like a decade, but imagine the discussion we could have with cobblemon without the shadow of pixelmon looming over.
I remember the early days of Pixelmon where they tried to go for this look, voxel based models instead of the higher poly models they use now... considering how many people play with shaders, I kind of wish they kept voxel models as an option... shading on higher poly models is a fair bit more intensive and can make or break the experience. I also always found the implementation of high poly models a bit jarring, it's minecraft, mobs should look like they belong in the game...
There is feature that worth to be mention. If you experienced with blockbench modeling and datapack, you could add your own fakemon( Pokemon that designed by fans ) to the mod as well. They even have official website wiki for that.
I do like that you can actually ATTACK the cobblemon, hope the same comes true for trainers who appear in your base. Also fingers crossed they will allow them to do damage on other mobs. Imagine using them to kill a zombie or something, with the chance to get pokerus or poison from them as a result. :) -Edit- Seems like I was right after looking at the reddit where one of the devs posted: "We plan on allowing Pokémon to be able to fight vanilla mobs alongside the player, hopefully with the ability to command them to use moves on mobs. It's a system that will take a fair bit of development time though, so we haven't gotten to it yet. It's likely something we'll start on sometime within the next few updates. " Good, needs more realism tbh. Plus then you can add cobblemon with other mods tech, magic, etc. Imagine using them to fight the wither, or Gaia Guardian xP
The main thing I like about Cobblemon is how it uses Pokemon Showdown's battle code. Pixelmon has suffered from a number of battle bugs coupled with months between updates with no hotfixes. Because Showdown is for competitive battles, it's much more polished, and better yet- pre-made.
It does? damn that sounds so much easier and just better. Many smart minds have worked solely on the showdown battle code, so im sure the quality is quite good.
The mod is also incredibly friendly for other modders, as you can add you own pokemon into it with just a resourcepack add-on in most cases. Most Technic modpacks with cobblemon usually do have all the pokemon already because modders were quick to add them in. Also pasture blocks are coming out soon! As well as growing berries, crafting potions, setting nicknames, and growing plenty of the medicinal items you could buy from stores in the original games!
as someone who has worked previously on a pixelmon server, im extremely glad another mod is finally taking its place. Pixelmon was so buggy and unstable that it made doing anything with it extremely frustrating, especially on the scale of a large server that gets around 100 players during the day. Organizing tournaments where every other battle had to be restarted because of the game bugging made me want to rip my hairs out. I really hope cobblemon takes over
I really like this mod and what they're doing. One of the big reasons I haven't jumped back into pixlemon in years even though its very nostalgic for me is that I find the game freak round models off-putting inside of minecraft. When I've thought about what mods I'd want to make myself before, a pokemon mod with custom minecraft-like models has been one of the main ones I've considered so I'm glad other people more skilled than me are doing that.
I really love the more Minecraft-y design of Cobblemon, it makes it feel like an expansion to Minecraft and not a completely separate game! I actually made a Cobblemon video a week or so ago and I had a lot of fun looking at the designs and seeing how you can use certain Pokemon as survival tools, like Pidgey giving feather falling when on your shoulder.
Honestly the high poly models of pixelmon was a big turn off for me. They just didn't feel like they fit into the world. Even being called "Pixelmon" when the pokemon were far beyond just pixels lol. This new mod looks really cool and will definitely be keeping an eye on it.
I honestly cannot wait for Cobblemon to continue updating, some Pokemon when you go to sleep in a bed will act like tamed cats and will walk into the bed and fall asleep on top of you which is especially adorable with Piplup because it just hunkers down like penguins do xD
One thing I hope they do is make it possible to have pokemon interact with the world a little more, eg have a bisharp chop down trees for you, or have a Wooloo/Tauros/Miltank eat grass like sheep do, or have The End Battle be against Arceus or Mewtwo or make all the legendary/mythical pokemon have special structures of somesort
This is the first time I have ever looked at cobblemon and as someone who's been using Pixelmon for YEARS I could not agree more, Cobblemon just looks sooo much better
As of right now, I'd say the two mods are pretty equal for me, but Cobblemon has a TON of potential to completely surpass Pixelmon. Just a bit more polish here and there. Of course, that's ignoring the fact that they seemingly intentionally left in the ability for actual Minecraft mobs to spawn, which gives me a *ton* of ideas for what could be done with Cobblemon. Maybe you could be be able to fight them with your Pokémon just like you can fight the Pokémon directly, for example. Something like that would definitely make Cobblemon better for me in an instant since it would better tie the mechanics of Minecraft and Pokémon together. Long story short: I'm excited to see where this mod goes. :)
i wish there was something in setting to select generations or what mons will spawn. could be cool if youre trying to do a specific region run or build
Honourable mention: Pokecube. Similar aesthetic and available on modern versions of Minecraft, but nowhere near as quality and well thought out as this mod! Looking forward to seeing it grow into a true Minecraft Pokemon experience - it's already leagues ahead of its predecessors!
Honestly the only Problem with Cobblemom in my opinion Is Why do the starters Always Start as Level 10 I just prefer starting at level 5 Instead of level 10 I just like the grind
You mentioned the whole thing about being able to spawn any pokemon and it'll have its stats and moves just no model. From my understanding this is because the battle sides of pokemon in this mod use the pokemon showdown api, which means the devs dont have to put as much time into the battles, this also allows people in the community to make resource packs adding in models for pokemon pretty easily and a few people are already dedicated to adding some pokemon themselves.
not only do the pokeballs disappear they also tend go in the ground or just straight up not appear, making very fun to not be able to see if you caught the pokemon or not
I played pixelmon and cobblemon so I know how you feel I hate it so much especially when it doesn't load and it's just open and the red lines just sit there
I love the model style and animations this mod brings, but if you're able to attack pokemon yourself, hopefully they add the ability for them to retaliate! A more hardcore legends arceus experience would be pretty sweet.
As a friend of the devs for pixelmon, there's a ton of beef between these two, but honestly I avoid that stuff, cause personally I like cobblemon. It's charming and in the current game patch meaning I can actually go to the deepdark, only thing I'm sad about is my main team isn't in cobblemon yet but I am patient and am happy with what we get in each patch.
I like this they took a bunch of elements from PLA like changing your moves on the fly chosing if you pokemon evolve and moving in battel also having your pokemon on your shoulder is a small thing that I love
Another great video! Wasn't expecting this direction when I saw the community post, but it's still entertaining. Also, can't wait for the Cobblemon series (which was what I first thought the community post was hinting at).
I can't wait for the future of this mod! Being able to just straight up fight Pokemon, or have to run away if you encounter a particularly mean, high-level mon in the wild if your party is too weak, even just the immersion of shearing Wooloo and having Pokemon ride around on your shoulders, it feels so fresh!
I do prefer Cobblemon's general gameplay, models, and animations, but in its current state, I think I still prefer Pixelmon My biggest problem is that Cobblemon have no sounds, so it's a bit too easy for me to forget they're actually there. Another thing that's kind of a bummer for me is that when I punch a Pokémon, they don't run away or fight back which kinda breaks my immersion These will probably be changed in the future and I will definitely use Cobblemon when it does, but for now I'll stick with Pixelmon
I imagine it's something they're currently working on, personally I hope their sounds are not like Pixelmon, I found them to be really annoying and repetitive.
@@MonocleMC yeah I agree that it's annoying, but with cobblemon, the lack of sounds also creates another problem where I have no idea if it's a Pokémon or a creeper whenever I hear footsteps, so it makes me paranoid too 😅
if nothing else, the voxel artstyle by default makes it the better option imo. i guess pixelmon uses ripped models from the actual games so they can add more pokemon more quickly, which makes sense but damn does it look uncanny in minecraft... these voxel pokemon are amazing!
From what I've seen in videos of cobblemon, vs pixelmon so far, cobblemon is easier and less glitchy even, by a landslide, you don't need a move relearner, you can carry around your healing device anywhere so if you're ever in a pickle, like say find a shiny but your pokemon is dead, then you'd be good, and they fixed having to wait to heal in the last update. I can't wait to finally be able to play it as soon as I can buy m 0:08 inecraft on my laptop.
Wow, I am actually thinking about playing cobblemon! I am not a forge guy, and I really like my fabric mods so this seems like a thing I could try. Can't wait to see the playthrough!
I hope that they will get all the pokemon in this AND eventually do Mega Evolutions/the other things. I loved Mega Evolution. Also, I can't wait to see all the servers that will be up and running for this mod.
Cobblemon is EXTREMELY lacking in content. After a year, I see basically no difference from how it was in the video to how it was when I tried it a month ago. The hot swapping of abilities (which can be used to refresh PP), lack of any sort of npcs or structures, lack of pokemon, overly simple crafting recipes for balls. It just makes it feel like missed potential. Pixelmon is far from perfect though. I don't exactly want to play that right now either. The fact that you need additional mods for so much stuff in Cobblemon is ridiculous
You experience the whole mod in about 1 hour or 2. Its just catching and battleing wild pokemon. Pixelmon might be a bit janky, but it actually has content. My friends and I just switched back to Pixelmon.
Pixel on has had over a decade of development, why don't u spend a year and try making one region worth of content for cobblemon, and we'll see how lacking you think it is then
I've never played either of these mods, but bro I had no idea Pixelmon's models were so UN-Minecraft! Yeah they're techincally good 3D models of pokemon, but they look horrible in the world of minecraft, but Cobblemon looks incredibly vanilla-friendly.
What annoys me about Pixelmon and Cobblemon is that it forces the Pokemon Battle System into Minecraft. I wanna have Pokemon (The Creatures) in Minecraft but still feel like playing Minecraft which isn't a Turn Based Game I really prefered for Pokemobs and Pokecube did it back then
For anybody interested for the Pokemon who currently only have substitute models I have seen servers that replace them with 2d pixel models and have given them world generation based on their typing. This means if your favourite Pokemon isn’t included you could still get them in a less interactive 2d form for the time being till future updates. Alot of the 3d sprites are community made so its really worth shouting out the community there and feel free to join and give them a hand. Its awesome to see their discord at work. (Just to clarify I’m not connected with the cobblemon creators/developers just a big fan of this mod they’re making and think they deserve some praise)
Wow, this mod has CRAZY potential. It already feels a lot better than pixelmon in a number of ways despite the unbelievable amount of features pixelmon has. Looking forward to seeing how this mod develops
Me and 10 friends made an entire recreation map of Kanto on minecraft. In pallet town, we added a "line" to battle with pokemon trainers between Anything goes, 100, , 50 and level 25. An entire shopping center for TMS, Items and Ultra/Great/Poke balls (You get money by fighting wild pokemon or selling items) and lots of 1 on 1 trade stations. I was honestly really impressed and made sure to keep players inbound while allowing players to be able to teleport to cities they've been to by right clicking their respective badge and each badge also grants entry through certain parts of the map. We also added anti-cheats to the server and lots of scripts and extension add-ons. All wild pokemon set corresponding to the games in level, and % appearance rate as well as 0.1% chance of certain pokemon or certain locations opening up at night when the light sensor doesn't receive light, it opens up a path in a cave, forest, or underwater with exclusive pokemon. It was great, pretty much we were going to open up the server to the public but... The server host who had this entire server and map didn't make a copy of it and their entire computer got corrupted and deleted. We all just quit altogether.
I think they both have their place, and the existence of one doesn't "ruin" the other. Sure, people can have their opinions on which is better or worse, but that doesn't mean there's not room for both. I love Pixelmon, and I'm very excited to try Cobblemon, and I think I could enjoy either one depending on my mood
Great Video, only addition i would add is how simple it is to add content yourself and how there is actually quite a few community datapacks and mods that already work with it despite Cobblemon beeing so new! :)
To me pixelmon is somebody trying to add pokemon to minecraft. Cobblemon meanwhile feels like somebody tried to COMBINE pokemon and minecraft. Cobblemon don’t feel like stat blocks with a model, they feel like actual mobs that you can interact with. I also find it a lot more convenient.
i do think players will still play pixelmon for a long time, just because of the fact that updating cobblemon and adding all the gyms, mega evolutions, legendary structures, etc... will take an absurd amount of time. And for now pixelmon is clearly better than cobblemon because of this, in cobblemon you don't even have gyms for now xD. But yes if they add all of this, it would be clear that if pixelmon doesn't add more new things, it will be overlooked.
Yeah, I mean I play single player survival. Having trainers and gyms would go a long way, but I understand they have much more pressing features to add, just hope they don't ignore them.
Theres no way this game will end up being more popular. The people that made it require you to have the payed version of minecraft while pixelmon does not, a lot of kids that wanna play this and not minecraft itself will just go to pixelmon.
You created a crazy illusion by using shaders only when previewing Cobblemon and not with Pixelmon, Making it immediately look like visually your Minecraft will look much better and more interesting with Cobblemon. Nice touch
Ironically, extremely old versions of pixelmon (2.3 or so) had squarer, more Minecraft-looking models. As the versions went on, they smoothened all of them out.
I actually quite like the smoother, higher res models. I know it's supposed to be Minecraft, but the blockier versions just look... Weirder to me, somehow. Maybe this is because I grew up with Pixelmon, so whenever a pokemon got an updated design it looked really cool to me lol. Extremely unlikely, but I do hope they maybe implement an option to switch between high res and blockier models when they run out of things to add to the mod and/or don't get sued by Nintendo haha
The only real issue I have with pixelmon and (probably) cobblemon is that they don't scale level of wild encounters with proximity to spawn. it's like you're permanently playing a randomizer with every setting turned on, and now route 1 is victory road. Also the pixelmon reforged mod has lost all my respect when I opened the jar file to change music off of the _single jarring tropical combat theme_ because I could tell in the json file that it supported multiple sound files, and when I asked in the support channels How this should be implemented, they threatened to ban me for daring to unpack the jar file.
The only scary thing about this mod is if it will live up to the customization of Pixelmon. I always enjoyed making maps with Pixelmon, and I want all the mechanics to be game-accurate so I can simulate impossible Showdown fights in them. I know it'll take a while for those features to be added, so at the moment I only see this as an aesthetic replacement. And also, the best model in the game is obviously the Arcanine!
The moment I saw Cobbleman the moment I watched it around it's early release, I immediately knew this is going to be the superior mod overall, while I do appreciate Pixelmon for being the first and have made me happy during its gameplay, I'd have to choose Cobblemon for sticking to minecraft's style, graphics, aesthethics and quality of life, it's all great, I remembered Pixelmon used to have sound effects for ball wiggles and capture (might be misremembering) it just felt that they pushed too many features before polishing existing ones which made it felt like a rushed(if you can say that's rushed with slow updates) mod or inadequately developed mod
I love that the healing station is cheaper. I remember playing pixelmon and my Pokémon were in bad shape. So I checked the recepie for a healing station and it used a DIAMOND I barely had iron tools!
I've been playing pixelmon on and off since I was a child and it was new. Cobblemon feels nostalgic to me for some reason, and this fits the future vision I wanted to see when I was a kid, I really hated that the models drifted away into the garbage they are today and I'm glad this mod exists.
Hope you all enjoy this video🙌

Sure, it may not have procedurally generated towns, pokemon centers, or NPCs yet, but it still has awhile to go.
pixelmon is like lycanites mobs, thats why a lot of people hate on those two mods
@@cinderelennhonestly after playing rlcraft till end game it's wild how bad those mobs look compared to say parasites which actually looks like they belong in mc

i’m hoping one day we get to a point where we don’t even need to compare pixelmon and cobblemon. i hear a lot of folks describe cobblemon as “a better version of pixelmon”. while i’m glad everyone loves this mod, i hope it can eventually blossom and grow into its own thing. i know pixelmon has been out for like a decade, but imagine the discussion we could have with cobblemon without the shadow of pixelmon looming over.

I did think about mentioning that, but I didn't want to flood people with too much information.
You can do this also with pixelmon

Iron Mugulis vs Tofrug vs Subnoodle
@@cyberneticsquid No, you totally can.
I do like that you can actually ATTACK the cobblemon, hope the same comes true for trainers who appear in your base.
Also fingers crossed they will allow them to do damage on other mobs.
Imagine using them to kill a zombie or something, with the chance to get pokerus or poison from them as a result. :)
-Edit-
Seems like I was right after looking at the reddit where one of the devs posted: "We plan on allowing Pokémon to be able to fight vanilla mobs alongside the player, hopefully with the ability to command them to use moves on mobs. It's a system that will take a fair bit of development time though, so we haven't gotten to it yet. It's likely something we'll start on sometime within the next few updates. "
Good, needs more realism tbh.
Plus then you can add cobblemon with other mods tech, magic, etc.
Imagine using them to fight the wither, or Gaia Guardian xP
I don't care for the idea of cobblemon next to vanilla animals
LMao that'll be amazing. Crossover modpack incoming!
I've recently been thinking about an expert modpack that uses Pokemon as part of the progression tree. It seems actually possible with Cobblemon.
@@ReptillianStrikePalworld like? Xd
Cobblemon on its own doesn't come with trainers, but there are extra mods that add them
The main thing I like about Cobblemon is how it uses Pokemon Showdown's battle code. Pixelmon has suffered from a number of battle bugs coupled with months between updates with no hotfixes. Because Showdown is for competitive battles, it's much more polished, and better yet- pre-made.
Oh it does? That's super neat!
It does? damn that sounds so much easier and just better. Many smart minds have worked solely on the showdown battle code, so im sure the quality is quite good.
They could use it just like that? It's freely available?
Damn that's really cool
@Fiufsciak seems like their is a github repository to access the API, maybe their using that idk
I really hope cobblemon takes over
Also the low poly models not only look way better, but they also are sure to cause way less lag, wich was a huge issue on the server i worked at too
@@Sarah_Redfox yeah lag was my first thought plus the vanilla looking models are way cuter imo
hope not
@@MaxTheWendigo why not?
Yeah pixelmon is kind of ugly lol
@@ricklavick It fits with the aesthetics of minecraft? The "smooth" textures of pixelmon are jarring and hideous, how is this hard for you to grasp?
Honestly the high poly models of pixelmon was a big turn off for me. They just didn't feel like they fit into the world. Even being called "Pixelmon" when the pokemon were far beyond just pixels lol. This new mod looks really cool and will definitely be keeping an eye on it.
I honestly cannot wait for Cobblemon to continue updating, some Pokemon when you go to sleep in a bed will act like tamed cats and will walk into the bed and fall asleep on top of you which is especially adorable with Piplup because it just hunkers down like penguins do xD
now imagine sleeping with Snorlax on top
@@StaciaHime the best and last sleep you'll ever have

One thing I hope they do is make it possible to have pokemon interact with the world a little more, eg have a bisharp chop down trees for you, or have a Wooloo/Tauros/Miltank eat grass like sheep do, or have The End Battle be against Arceus or Mewtwo or make all the legendary/mythical pokemon have special structures of somesort
This is the first time I have ever looked at cobblemon and as someone who's been using Pixelmon for YEARS I could not agree more, Cobblemon just looks sooo much better
2:50 "only generation 1 pokemon will spawn"
Immediately cuts to Stantler and Bergmite
I am very excited for the future of Cobblemon! It currently has a ton of potential.
2:48 “Only gen 1 Pokèmon will spawn” Shows Stantler (gen 2) and Bergmite (gen 6) (not trying to be nitpicky I just thought it was funny)
Imagine fighting the Warden with your team. Sounds pretty fun to me
id be down, maybe even have some zombie/skeleton trainers that can either be fought normally or with the team like an actual trainer battle

I love pokecube
I would never hurt Piplup feeling, you’ve left me no choice😔😂
not only do the pokeballs disappear they also tend go in the ground or just straight up not appear, making very fun to not be able to see if you caught the pokemon or not
I played pixelmon and cobblemon so I know how you feel I hate it so much especially when it doesn't load and it's just open and the red lines just sit there

I love the model style and animations this mod brings, but if you're able to attack pokemon yourself, hopefully they add the ability for them to retaliate! A more hardcore legends arceus experience would be pretty sweet.
@@MrTea-cz4dr I wasn't a fan of that mod, it has a similar problem with a lack of animations, and a lot of the models are ugly...
Right? Seems kinda OP you don't even need to battle to catch
What's on your main team? We might get em in 1.4
I like this they took a bunch of elements from PLA like changing your moves on the fly chosing if you pokemon evolve and moving in battel also having your pokemon on your shoulder is a small thing that I love
Cobblemon is pokemon IN Minecraft.
Pixelmon is pokemon AND Minecraft.
So it depends on if you want amounts more than immersion.
Pixelmons are overwrite minecraft
Another great video! Wasn't expecting this direction when I saw the community post, but it's still entertaining. Also, can't wait for the Cobblemon series (which was what I first thought the community post was hinting at).
Honestly I absolutely love how Cobblemon works a lot like Arceus, I love how tha thame works so much and its nice to have somethong else similar
I also love the fact that making custom mons is pretty straightforward
I do prefer Cobblemon's general gameplay, models, and animations, but in its current state, I think I still prefer Pixelmon
My biggest problem is that Cobblemon have no sounds, so it's a bit too easy for me to forget they're actually there. Another thing that's kind of a bummer for me is that when I punch a Pokémon, they don't run away or fight back which kinda breaks my immersion
These will probably be changed in the future and I will definitely use Cobblemon when it does, but for now I'll stick with Pixelmon
I imagine it's something they're currently working on, personally I hope their sounds are not like Pixelmon, I found them to be really annoying and repetitive.
@@MonocleMC yeah I agree that it's annoying, but with cobblemon, the lack of sounds also creates another problem where I have no idea if it's a Pokémon or a creeper whenever I hear footsteps, so it makes me paranoid too 😅
@@poeissalty5807 You can play in peaceful mode, as it doesn't affect the Pokemon in your world whatsoever.

if nothing else, the voxel artstyle by default makes it the better option imo. i guess pixelmon uses ripped models from the actual games so they can add more pokemon more quickly, which makes sense but damn does it look uncanny in minecraft... these voxel pokemon are amazing!
We have to see more Cobblemon from you!
“Why does Piplup have tatas?” Was the first thing i asked when seeing the thumbnail.

Cobblemon has such a nice style to the pokemons, I much rather having them as blocky entities too, pixelmon feels off
They still feel super off in Cobblemon, more vanilla than Pixelmon.. but still fundamentally wrong.
The only bad thing about pixelmon is how u craft ur pokeballs but that's easily fixeable by just exploring
5:14 In Pixelmon, the healing machine requieres a DIAMOND, cannot be obtained as item when mined and unaffected by Silk Touch, but why?

It's available for fabric too
They said it seems like something they could try, I think they're aware it's for fabric as well.
It's been a year... if Nintendo hasn't sued or issued a DMCA takedown when they're going for Palworld I'll be suprised
I hope that they will get all the pokemon in this AND eventually do Mega Evolutions/the other things. I loved Mega Evolution. Also, I can't wait to see all the servers that will be up and running for this mod.
Still waiting for the day a Pokemon game/mod will let me mega evolve, dynamax, and terastallize the same mon while using a Z move

Look at their trello page, they are working on a ton of features
Pixel on has had over a decade of development, why don't u spend a year and try making one region worth of content for cobblemon, and we'll see how lacking you think it is then
Just judging by the thumbnail alone, I definitely feel like I’d like this “cobblemon” thing more than pixelmon.
I wanna have Pokemon (The Creatures) in Minecraft but still feel like playing Minecraft which isn't a Turn Based Game
I really prefered for Pokemobs and Pokecube did it back then
1:38 man that's an arcanine with no fire attacks?
oh god you're right
For anybody interested for the Pokemon who currently only have substitute models I have seen servers that replace them with 2d pixel models and have given them world generation based on their typing.
So…it isn’t better. You quite literally went against your whole point.
I like how the substitute Pokémon models are literal substitutes
Great Video, only addition i would add is how simple it is to add content yourself and how there is actually quite a few community datapacks and mods that already work with it despite Cobblemon beeing so new! :)
To me pixelmon is somebody trying to add pokemon to minecraft.
Cobblemon meanwhile feels like somebody tried to COMBINE pokemon and minecraft.
Cobblemon don’t feel like stat blocks with a model, they feel like actual mobs that you can interact with. I also find it a lot more convenient.
personally, the lack of some of my favorite pokemon has made me discover new ones that i really like, such as galvantula and golurk
its so cute to see that the place holder model for the pokemon that arent in the game yet is a substitute doll
I really hope this mod will take off. It already looks amazing, and I’m super excited to try it out myself!
The thumbnail: What did Piplup do wrong?
i do think players will still play pixelmon for a long time, just because of the fact that updating cobblemon and adding all the gyms, mega evolutions, legendary structures, etc... will take an absurd amount of time.
6:22 done :D
I don't think cobblemon currently passes pixelmon, but I 100% believe it will surpass pixelmon in the near or far future.
this is an ad
You created a crazy illusion by using shaders only when previewing Cobblemon and not with Pixelmon, Making it immediately look like visually your Minecraft will look much better and more interesting with Cobblemon. Nice touch
It wasn't intentional, I tried getting shaders to work in Pixelmon, but since it's not supported in Fabric or Optifine I didn't know how.
Calling something a blank killer never ends well.
Just got this recommended to me, I will definitely check it out. Are there any mods you recommend pairing with Cobblemon?
Ironically, extremely old versions of pixelmon (2.3 or so) had squarer, more Minecraft-looking models. As the versions went on, they smoothened all of them out.
Yeah! That's the one I knew, and seeing the models so smooth now... it creeped me out.
You can shear wooloo and mareep in reforged, as well as milk miltanks
Well this aged like spoiled milk😅
how?
At least explain how? 😅
They say that people still wonder why to this day...

I've been playing pixelmon on and off since I was a child and it was new. Cobblemon feels nostalgic to me for some reason, and this fits the future vision I wanted to see when I was a kid, I really hated that the models drifted away into the garbage they are today and I'm glad this mod exists.
