Good review. I get the impression that antennas like this one are becoming popular among amateur radio operators, especially those playing POTA, SOTA etc. Best wishes to the lucky Wago winner.
Way to go, with the WAGO... Mike needs to offer the design files for sale cos international shipping is insane, almost as much as the device itself. It's an ingenious and compact design, I like it!
WAGO because I have had my license for 14 whole days and I can legally use something like that. I have been making some great world wide contacts over the past 14 days. I made a contact to Moscow Russia last night from Nova Scotia Canada. 1.8 watts QRP 😎
Great idea with the winder👍🏻 And the price is really ok. But I already have two soldering iron and antenna analyser...😂 So I have to do all my EFHW antennas DIY 😊 I do most the time SOTA where every gramm/ounce counts, no need for casing or spool winder. Mine are made with FT-140-43 cores and an ultralight pcb only.
wago, i use them often in my work, and boy howdy do they save my wrists, though a wirenut is particularly helpful in certain cases too. Every tool for its job! WV1T
Hi Sean, I ordered one of these last week (same day I ordered yours). Looking forward to trying them both out. Very good idea on adding the counterpoise point to the Flanders.
WAGO. Pretty cool and innovative product. Seems to be tough enough and yet light enough to pack without noticing it. Thanks for reviewing this antenna. 73, W0AAV
I used to work for WAGO! One thing - If you are using a capacitor in series with an antenna wire, make sure that there is a high value resistor across it to prevent a potential difference building up across the two parts of the wire due to static. I couldn't see if there is in this design.
Hey there! Great Point you made about the resistor. I should also mention that Flatlanders mirror does use a resistor in series with the capacitor to prevent potential difference buildup! GOOD CALL! Good luck Wago!
Nice design, very "go-to" ready. The only thing I'd do would be to jump the cap (or removed it) and use the entire length of wire (and your counterpoise idea is great!), so I could work any HF band. Our radios all have tuners in them anyway so why not? If the 49:1 doesn't get the Z close enough, re-wind it to a 9:1. The core size is great for keeping things cooler and less apt to saturate.
That's actually a really good idea to be able to have bullet connectors on each side of the capacitor and a link so that you could link or on link it/ bypass it!
Hi Sean, Nice adding that Wago for a counterpoise. Also a good idea extending the crank handle with a nub to lock into one of the holes as a lock. Looks like he has added a 2mm banana connector for a counterpoise. Stay safe. 73 WJ3U
Hi don I hope you're doing well. The extension of the counterpoise that he has is for his 9:1 kit, I'll go back and check a little bit later to make sure I didn't miss it. cheers and take care !
Love that but I would need a varible capcitor on the toroid, due to my shack is on the 3nd floor, my dad built one that way 49.1 the box sits inside the window and the wire out worked good at 88 feet I extended it to a half square 130 feet now with 80 mtrs. WAGO.
Just a few things to mention: 1. The Capacitor on the antenna wire does also have an in series resistor. This helps keep static build up out of your radio (can be bad) 2. The Toroid type used is a FT-26433251002 3. It was mentioned in the comments and I agree, Winding the antenna into the reel partially may show a low SWR, but also may create crazy reactance. With that, more testing will be needed. But that's the joy of radio. I am going to see if I can get out soon to test this. 4. SMASHING that like button is free, takes only seconds, and helps this channel continue to grow. Thanks for watching.
Is it me or is the counterpoise connected in the wrong place? I thought it should be on the other end of the winding connected to the outer housing of the coax connector.
@johnleach505 Hey there, The location where the counterpoise may not be as important as What the counterpoise connects to and that should be the ground lug, internal to the promted winder. I actually made a video on how to do the install. So if you give me a few days, I could probably get it up
PETG is pretty good. ASA is really difficult to get correct the first few times, then it becomes okay. Proper enclsoure temperature, build plate temperature, and of course slicer settings for retraction (etc) make ASA a challenge sometimes. Cheers!
The following comment was AI generated and can be totally ignored. I've been using this antenna for a few weeks now, and it has definitely improved my signal strength. I noticed that wago it's particularly effective in rural areas where the reception was previously poor. One of the key features wago I appreciate is its ease of installation. It took me less than 15 minutes to set it up. Another aspect wago worth mentioning is its durability; it has held up well in various weather conditions. Overall, I would highly recommend this antenna to anyone looking to enhance their TV viewing experience. The wago value for money is exceptional, making it a great investment. By the way, the previous comment was AI generated and can be ignored.
Nice review Dude! Hope all is well. No wago….I am blessed to have many ideas. I want someone to receive it who really needs it. I will consider purchasing it. Vy 73s Don
Looks like a well thought out product, and the price is right. I like the idea of using the Wago for the counterpoise attachment. I also like your idea for extending the crank to provide for a method to secure the reel. Thanks for the review. 👍👍
WAGO from Canada 73
@skylift2
"WAGO from Canada 73" - Congratulations on the EFHW drawing! What is the best way to get this shipped out to you? Cheers!
@skylift2 - I'm hoping you see this? Cheers.

WAGO. Very interesting antenna. I like the addition of the WAGO connector for the counterpoise wire. Great idea. Thanks for the video.
I have the older version and this looks like has some nice upgrades
Looks like great antenna. Lotta good suggestions in the video. Like how compact and easily deployable.
WAGO ! Very cool design. Thanks for the great demo and review, Sean!
WAGO I love this idea, it's great that's it's all in one all self contained no Winder or cable wraps needed
WAGO nice review. Maby a longer crank can be made? Thx 73s
Wago. Fast deployment with great results. Thanks for the video
WAGO because I have had my license for 14 whole days and I can legally use something like that. I have been making some great world wide contacts over the past 14 days. I made a contact to Moscow Russia last night from Nova Scotia Canada. 1.8 watts QRP 😎
WAGO! Thanks for the info on the antenna Sean! Definitely an awesome design.
WAGO, great video I like how compact it is.
WAGO! I love the quick up and quick down aspect of this!
2m of coax (down to 40m), then a choke, then coax to the radio. You don't need the dangly.
WAGO from North Texas! 73!
WAGO - Nice winder. I was going to mount a cheap fly fishing real to my EFHW, but this looks to be the way to go.
Great idea with the winder👍🏻
And the price is really ok.

Hi Sean, I ordered one of these last week (same day I ordered yours). Looking forward to trying them both out. Very good idea on adding the counterpoise point to the Flanders.
WAGO ! Another great antenna. For counterpoise sometimes I just put a hose clamp on PL 259. works great. 73
WAGO-- I love that antenna , i can go pota with just one antenna and it will cover all my favorite bands , keep the good work brother 73 from KC1SXC.
Wago very good I’m definitely liking it for a newbie that plans on doing pota. And just found your channel great stuff. Keep it up!
WAGO. Pretty cool and innovative product. Seems to be tough enough and yet light enough to pack without noticing it. Thanks for reviewing this antenna. 73, W0AAV
Some really nice ideas here. Excellent.
I think that the WAGO makes a great addition to an antenna kit. I'm thinking of making a linked dipole with them.
Reely cool! Thanks Sean and Mike!
Wago and Aloha, nice fair review I absolutely love the build and what looks like the ease of used to deploy and pack up. Mahalo from Michael KH6ML
WAGO. Great job reeling us in.
Wago looks cool 😊
Wago. I like the use of a beefier toroid.
I used to work for WAGO!

Very cool antenna esp if your on the move
Wago on the antenna review, good suggestions for improvement on the next generation. Also wag on the blue topless bronco.

WAGO I like the design. I haven't made the jump to an EFHW yet, just random wire and a 9:1...
Really cool antenna 😊😊
Wago. Nice design. Would be excellent for POTA. Well done video
Thank you! Cheers and good luck
Love the video very thorough

Wago... Just found your channel... Great info... am now a subscriber! looking forward to more great content
Welcome aboard!
WAGO. Would make sense to extend that handle to lock into one of those holes
WAGO. Awesome video! Thanks!
WAGO Great review! Nice design for an EFHW
WAGO ? Because it's better than not going... Thanks for the video Sean!
Very cool concept with the WAGO connector, will they become as versatile as the power poles to hams? Time will tell.

Nice design on the reel! WAGO!
Looks pretty cool.

I may be looking ant this wrong. Not really clear from video. Can you explain where you connected the counterpoise wire?

WAGO Is a type of connector I have not tried yet, but would love to test out some time.
Very informative video. Question how did you hook the counterpoint to the unit. Thanks.
No problem. I hooked it up to the ground lug inside. I have a video on it and will post it today or tomorrow. Thanks!
WAGO cool little antenna!
Very cool design! WAGO !
I usually print in PETG anymore just for that reason. Tried ASA a few times. Too finicky for me. Very good filament however.
PETG is pretty good. ASA is really difficult to get correct the first few times, then it becomes okay. Proper enclsoure temperature, build plate temperature, and of course slicer settings for retraction (etc) make ASA a challenge sometimes. Cheers!
WAGO, way to go!
Wago this is a cool idea.
Good content friend. What toroid is that you're using?
looks superb - sadly not available in the UK.
