Brings back tenage memories... Chilling with the mates after school in the pentágon...wayyy back in the late 80,s...and then home to cliffe with the 133 bus... 🤔All changed, at least D&A toys is around shame the café next to superdrug seems to have gone... Great little video👍...
Holly heck. Left Chatham In 1984. We used to shop at D & A Store back in the late Seventies. My parents were regulars at the Sainsbury's and Boots during that time. It's great to see those stores still in the same locations!
Keep up the great work! Your POV videos make me feel like I know Chatham. I am moving there, from Hampshire in a couple of months, off Churchill Avenue, and your videos really help me to familiarise myself with the area. Thank you!
@@ethanbromley3226 Cheers Ethan, as I am a little nervy, given I have spent half a century living in West London and Hampshire! It's Wedgewood Drive for me, in the next few weeks!
Kent people are the best - I now live in wales but was born and bred in strood and Chatham . Avoid Luton road at night if you are walking it’s a bit rough - but on the whole it’s just like any other town
I’m originally from Chatham, and I moved but COVID taught me a few things and that’s I miss home. How bad it maybe and the rep it gets it makes me wanna move back.
Ah, I remember the Pentagon centre. Used to go there in the mid 1990s after college. I also remember there was a Robin Reliant shop on the left hand side of Railway Street just after the bridge. Good to see the old Natwest is still there. Yeah, Pentagon centre used to have the "Café Grill Room Pentagon Grill" just in the corner on the ground floor - there used to be a WH Smith next to it. I remember going in there one time for scampi and chips. There used to be a video shop next to WH Smith called "Play" (I think); they used to sometimes sell ex-rental VHS tapes. Then there was a Superdrugs next to that; from the looks of it - Superdrugs have bought up both of those places now. There also used to be an "Electronics Boutique" on the ground floor just past the escalators on the right hand side. Great stuff. Thanks for posting it up.
I remember before EB games it was Future Zone with a little 3D head popping out the signage (white, with a cyber/wireframe paint job on the head). Funny what you remember!
@@theduke5908 I remember this. I can't remember if it was still Future Zone or EB at the time I went to pick up my copy of SimCity 3000 which I'd reserved, but they phoned to say it'd come in and they had a copy for me. Naturally I thought this meant I was lucky and there was huge demand for it, but when I popped in after school the guy said I was the only one to pick up a copy that day!
@@PhillipParr Ahhh mate! SC3k was amazing, I don't recall how I obtained SC3K, but I do remember picking up SC4 with my mum, and reading [and smelling!] the manual on the way home on the 166 bus. Good times :) I do kinda hate how local 'history' if you can call it that is simply lost to time, despite other things being super detailed (like a video games wiki for example) but there's no real place for 'local recollections' outside of perhaps a dead/niche facebook group :(
Nice video be interesting for people years from now to remember what shops were there , already the first floor is empty apart from Jessies cafe so who knows what it be like in the future.
This was filmed a few years ago during the Covid restrictions, so a few shops have shut down or opened already. I may go back in the next few months to do another video.
On the 11th of September 2001, I was working in a shop in Rainham (Kent, obvs) when someone burst in and said a plane had crashed into the Pentagon. They then immediately ran off again, and all day we thought there had been a disaster at this shopping centre.
@@klfproductions I have it too, but quality when I turn round much worser then yours. May be I have to change settings : to put more frames ? How many frames per second did you use?
I went there yesterday. Around the St. Marys island, dock yard is very nice area but the city centre, that street was full of chavs! It was sort of funny but shocking at same time. Weird town.
19.50 - Interesting, I didn't know Germany's Deichmann sold their shoes in England, too. But let's face it: Boots' still don't sell any kind of footwear, so someone has to di it. ;-)

Glad it brought back some good memories, thanks for watching
This is like relaxing ASMR, as it's not noisy. Just soothing sounds. 😊

Awesome video. Hopefully for sure in March of next year i'll do an EveryLift there! :D
Thanks, sounds interesting there’s quite a few lifts in there
What camcorder did you used to take this video, very stable short.
I used a DJI Pocket 2 on this one

This must be early morning on a Sunday no people about pubs are shut

06:30.. Watch out for Billy the Quidd. ;D.. Regular Chatham people will understand. ;D
I remember it before that was built.
11:36 Oh yes, let's go to the first floor and have a shot or twi. :-)
Is the bull pub still thear
That's was the old fire station
Nothing much in the way of good quality shops 😢😢😢 and general amenities for the community!
What’s the point of this film...?
Never seen the high st or pentegon so empty
The old qween Charlotte
there's something I want to ask. You.
Omg why is it so empty and lifeless? :(
It's not yet 9 am , normally it's pretty busy
