Russian fighters are diffrent.. But they don't get signed that easily. Because most of ufc events are in US and the ppl there don't want to see russian dominace.
@@fern6498 I think the Judo throws were more taunts than to grapple, he never really manhandled him on the ground because he simply didn’t let the fight go to the ground
I love Yan's style. His ability to transition from boxing positions into takedowns is something I really admire. His thinking about what positions he's trying to get to and from is pretty sophisticated.
So impressed by his guard adjustments because he doesn’t wear boxing gloves he opens his hands and covers his chin and temples well and then when he aldo tired he worked his inside boxing
yan's a real issue in the bantamweight division, extremely smart hands with really good anti wrestling and sweeps ready at any time, i don't see many kicks from him though
I love watching Yan fight. He is one of my favorite active fighters, its a style that you see alot in amateur russian MMA, very thai boxing influenced, but they're russian so you know they got amazing TDD and also Judo TD's.
Minimalistic style will be, I think, the next dominating style in MMA. The evolution of mma is distillating what works of every style. BJJ for MMA is already minimal since a while, wrestling has being minimalized, and minimal striking in MMA is shaping itself.
His effectiveness with basic stuff is not something you learn in practice, it something that comes with hundreds of fights which he had to have had to become Master of Sports in boxing. Same with his ability to absorb big power with his mid section without losing his energy. Whats impresses me the most is how well rounded he is. He was a champion in ACB - a promotion that has a TON of dagestani wrestlers so hes very hard to take down and hold down. He trains in Thailand so his kicking and clinch work is also incredibly dangerous. So far the only moments of weakness he had is when someone isn't afraid to throw with him. Rivera had a lot of successes by firing back every time and Dodson dropped him for a second because Yan lowered his hands after he hit his combo. His defense is already very good but if he can keep being mindful of counters i don't see ANYONE beating him any time soon.
Watching Yan fight is such a treat. Seeing him download what his opponent weaknesses are and slowly take over the fight makes his style really interesting. Also, that body shot on Aldo on the ground was devastating.
He has boxing, mu-thai, i often see him using a lot of judo even throwing techniques, he is the real Champ and will have his belt back as soon as he will put his hands on Aljo, i hope Aljo won't be injured too much during this fight, because Petr seems to be angry to have lost his belt this way . ( kind of : if i can't continue, i'm the champ? Diego sanchez style ?)
At 3:34 it looked like petr was choking josé with both hands wrapped around his throat, I know he wasnt actually choking him that way but it makes me wonder, is a choke like that illegal in the ufc/mma? I'd imagine it's not but no one ever does it that I know of, I'm interested what people have to say.
Chokes that restrict the airflow are much less effective then chokes that cut off the blood supply. Some people can remain conscious for large periods of time without air. This is why rear naked chokes make the opponent pass out or tap within seconds once locked in; because they restrict your blood flow.
No need to look for a complicate explanation when youre preaching the answer yourself, the kicks hurt, so instead of wasting energy and concentration in trying to check or pull the leg, he simply switched, when in doubt, simple is always better boys.
I love that knee he landed against Sterling
Who didn’t haha
Man booked him a rent free place in the hospital till 2069
The best!!!
im pretty impressed with al russian contenders , there seems to be a fearless joy in their direct presure and attack ,fedor wasnt a fluke :)

Well they do have amazing amateur boxers and the best wrestlers in the world, thats a deadly combo to be world class in
@nick kerr fedor is too old For UFC
His striking is simply demonic. Exceptional in the clinch, high level mui Thai combined with very technical judo trips. Good god🔥
Probably the scariest small man I’ve ever seen
He remains me to valentina, great muay thai and judo judo throws/trips.
@@Todo_fighting both of them train at Tiger Muay Thai, so there must be similarities in their game.

I want to see Figueredo vs Yan someday.
Ooooooh, that one would be fireworks 👀
Yan is 5kg and 5cm taller, sure skill wise it would be very very interesting but yan would start with a good advantage

Yh and he tends to eat leg kicks a bit too much. Twice we've seen him forced to switch stances because of low kicks.
Yeah but try fighting w/o the practice first.
Yeah, the only way you beat him is by taking a dq win off of an illegal knee lmao
