Very nice tutorial! I was able to do this without removing the lock cylinder and the bottom trim piece but, the way you did it definitely makes it easier to disconnect the electrical connectors!
Working on a 1999 F250 7.3 that has malfunctioning rear turn signals and brake tail lights. Front turns work and 3rd brake light on the cab work. I’ll try to remember to update this so someone with a similar problem can see if this is a viable option. First tip I have is pull off the screws and the column adjuster off. Then take the bottom plastic off and it makes getting the key assembly off 10/10 easier. Got a new one ordered pulled this one apart and it was pretty dirty. Trying to clean it and see if I can get it to work
Thanks for your compassion and detailed instructions, i was able to fix it. your advice of disconnecting the battery was most important. may this universe bless you with abundance and bliss.
Man I'm. Glad I saw this video I'm needing to do this job and was one step away from trying to pry the price the key gos in off thank you for showing me the right way
That over drive button is a easy fix,,,the wire that runs down through it gets rubbed to make a bare spot ,,just fix the wire and your back to working,,,,,Also that multi switch can be taken apart and cleaned is all it needs,,will work again.....,,Good video
Thx for this video, thankfully the steering column in the 1990s thunderbirds are very similar without column shifter. Helped me change my multi function switch on my 95 tbird lx.
I have a 2013 F250 and the wipers tend not to shut off after being deployed. After seeing this,...I may just live with it. Amazing what has to be done just to get to the stupid wiper/turn signal assembly. I'll just live with it.
Thank you for the video. I have a quick question, why not remove the bottom plastic cover then use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the key cylinder?
Just pop off the plastic lock cylinder cover where you put the key in and it snap right back on, no need to remove the lock cylinder for this job.... As for the rest follow the video and be patience...
Whenever one is working around the steering, assume the airbag is working and WILL GO OFF with the slightest f around. Always disconnect the battery. VERY IMPORTANT.
My 1999 F 150 I was having issues with left turn signal and hazards . I checked my fuses, purchased a flasher still nothing I removed my steering cover and wires were coming loose every time my tilt would go up and down I just made cables longer solved my problem
Same on my 2001 F150 Supercrew. Replaced flasher relay no help and it was the plastic electrical clip on the multi-function switch had deteriorated and came loose.
If your flashers are not working the first thing to try is wiggle the hazard switch push it in and out a couple times they will get stuck half way and make nothing work
every time I hit my brakes my right signal comes on I'm thinking it's the switch I got all the screws out of the plastic but can not get the lil lever for the tilt out even using vise grips still will not turn
Reviews and How-to I did that changed it with a junk yard special lol well worked great for about 6 months now I have no low or fogs or 4way brights. I've checked everything. Bulbs relays put new headlamp switch in so I've ordered a brand new turn signal multifunctional switch ill have it this week. I've done it once should be able to do in 15 minutes now. I'll lyk if it fixes my light issue

I m facing another issue, the inside cabin lights are not working in my 96 F-150 Econoline Conversion Van. Do u know where is the fust for the same ?
It may not be a simple job, however it's nice that one doesn't have to pull the steering off to complete it.

It may be easier / harder on a 2013. This was a 1997.
Thank you for the video.

Mark Sipos hahah I was thinking the same other guys in the other videos they took the cover first! :)

Lol title says F-250. Its an F-150. Not a bad video! Nice job😃
Could be a light duty f250
When you click on the drop down under the title, it says that it works on 150, 250, and 350 😍
Hi I never did see if this fixed the problem at the end because the video finished before it showed it actually working. I have the same problem.
Awesome. Great video. Thank you!

Helpful, thanks
How can you tell if the problem is the turn signal switch or the flasher relay? Thanks
Replace the flasher relay with the turn signal relay. If you have the same issue, and all fuses are good this is most likely your issue.

Thanks a million!
my turn signal works but the windshield whipers dont work would it be the whole switch or the wires for the windshield
That would require testing with a VOM.
cool prob will be doing this to mine just my signals stop working everything else still works an btw nice front brush guard
It should fix it. Here's hoping!!!
A new turn signal switch with washer is $24 at Amazon. But you went to the salvage yard and bought one..Hahahahahaha
Sure did. $5 bucks and still working. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
the shitty part is the hazards, turn tights, brake lights are all on this one damn switch.
I agree.
Those are definitely not the same switch. Are you having issues with it?
every time I hit my brakes my right signal comes on I'm thinking it's the switch I got all the screws out of the plastic but can not get the lil lever for the tilt out even using vise grips still will not turn
Wow!!! Hit it with PB or WD first?

Why did you not test it first
Probably should rename the video the F250 and F350 are completely different in 1997
I broke mine. Grrrrrrrr
I didn't have to remove my ignition thingy
