She was gone too soon. What a gifted voice. He was a great musician. I'm 61 and still enjoy listening to Karen sing. Karen Carpenter and Patsy Cline are my all time favorite female singers
Oh dear dear Richard. Thank you. Thank you for your bravery. And your genius. How you've managed; that you can still speak of your sister - your willingness to even do so - amazing. What a troubadour you are. You have probably heard every accolade, but people really mean it when they say you changed their lives. Your amazing magical legacy is that ALL of it, your entire portfolio of work, has been FOR GOOD. Here we are in 2022, and look at what we've become as a nation - so troubling, so many people hurting, so much violence and confusion. But always in my heart pocket is you and Karen. Great big fluffy clouds of honesty, sweetness, beauty, purety, and soulful harmonies to float on. More than ever, your music is the message we need to hear. I've loved you and Karen since I was 10. I'm 62 and I'll always respect you and never stop listening - how lucky I am to have lived to enjoy all of your tapestries. May God bless and keep you.
There never has been, nor will there ever be, anyone that can compete with the Carpenters. Richard and Karen were one of a kind. They were so good together. And Karen's voice is like a song from a beautiful bird...the one that your ear singles out of all the other birds. It draws you to it, softly, yet with a beauty you cannot describe. I’m a 72 year old buzzard bedridden laying here with tears in my eyes. I was a working musician for 30+ years playing pop covers in clubs when young. We never did a Carpenter song because none of us could sing them. There was always something out of reach. She was a gift from God.
I was in weekend Rock/Pop bands for many years and would do solos from time to time - piano/vocal - and would do that Leon Russell song "A Song for You" a lot. Even though most of my Musical friends weren't fans - harder Rock was their cup of tea - but I was. I understood the Magic of her voice! She & Richard were definitely gifts from God! Music is our connection to the Divine. Take care.
So sorry she died so young. I watched a movie about her life. Such talent. She sang beautifully always smiling.but now we know she was mentally distressed I believe and anoxeria killed her. God please understand.
It always hurts so much when we loose such beautiful performers before in their prime. So sad. But regardless the happiness and love they gave us, always stays with us. GOD BLESS them all.

My 15 Favorite Carpenters Songs: In That Order 1)For All We Know 2) I Need To Be In Love 3)Yesterday Once More 4)Hurting Each Other 5)Now 6)Rainy Days And Mondays 7)One Love 8)We've Only Just Begun 9)Merry Christmas, Darling 10)Top Of The World 11)This Masquerade 12)Superstar 13)I Won't Last A Day Without You 14)Maybe It's You 15)Bless The Beasts And Children
Superstar is one of the greatest vocals ever laid down. It's one of a handful of songs that no one else should try because Karen's version is the definitive one.
I think perhaps more than any other of their many classics, 'Superstar' will be remembered and listened to the longest. It's one of the greatest ballads ever recorded. Although not played as much as that song, 'Solitaire' could probably have been entitled 'Superstar, part II' due to both its subject matter and haunting quality.
@@DerekWitt A lot of that is studio manipulation. If you can find the video where she sings for Nixon at the White House, she didn't sound good without the effects.
Without second guessing and miss interpreting her feelings and her illness I can tell you she had a great talent that was shared with her brothers talent. She was very beautiful and she was truly loved by her fan’s. No one really knows what another persons world is like unless they spend time in their shoes. May she always be remembered fondly.
A teenager in Karachi, Pakistan I was in love with Carpenters. Made it so much easier to traverse the new big scary world. And now when I listen to it's only just begun, it still resonates and takes me back when it really did begin for me and then it's yesterday once more and there's a kind of hush when I am lost in that magical world. Thank you for your ever lasting musical legacy.
Her voice was a love song. Very beautiful. She sang with all her feelings into it. Notice when she sings she closes her eyes and moves her body. She loved her music.
I really enjoyed their music. Richard was the mastermind! He is amazing! I was in my teens and it was easy to sing to. I was shocked Karen died so young. I still enjoy listening today at 65.
The Carpenters were two of the greatest musicians that ever lived. Their talent was incredible and they complimented each other so we'll. They dominated the first half of the 70s with such awesome iconic songs. One after another. It made you get excited what would come next. Don't forget their great Christmas album as well.
What an incredible duo! Karen had the most wonderful voice and made everything she sang memorable. To me “We’ve Only Just Begun” has to be their #1 of all time.

So good to see the UK still has an affection for Karen and Richard. They will always be my favorites. I truly miss Karen. She was one of the greatest singers ever, and never knew just how good she was. A star in Heaven.
Thank you for this beautiful playback. I'm 74 now and my heart still breaks when I think of Karen and her beautiful voice taken from us so soon. Bless you Richard for all your wonderful talents and entertainment for many years.
Thank you for all the clips of live recordings. They sound as good as they did in studio recordings, which is a revelation and only emphasizes their incredible talents. I have been enthralled with them and Karen’s pure, crystalline, expressive voice since the first time I heard them at age 4. I will never forget that voice and those harmonies jumping out of the speakers directly into my psyche and heart. I immediately made my mother chase around the county trying to find their recordings that had sold out everywhere. Love them both to this very day.
It’s a beautiful story of love between a brother and sister who became famous together and were 2 parts of a whole that was greater than the sum of their individual efforts, just beautiful.
That was SO good!! Thank you so much for posting. Karen was only 5 years older than I am....but her music had a big impact on my youth and I still get joy at stretching 70! There has been no one that can ever replace the Carpenters.
I got married in Sept. 1987 and 'We've Only Just Begun' was our wedding song and 1st dance as newlyweds. So THANK YOU PAUL WILLIAMS, RICHARD CARPENTER & the angelic legend KAREN CARPENTER for being a special moment in my life! ♥️
Wholesome and fabulous! Grew up with The Carpenters and yes, your music meant so much and is timeless. Amazing how Richard could take a song from a commercial and create we've only just begun which i would pick as number one. Amazing duo, God bless you!
Paul Williams is 100% correct when he said Karen was an angel. So sad she died so young. I was born in 68 and was lucky to grow up in the seventies enjoying Carpenters music. Karen will always be an angel to me. Beautiful in every way.
I may not 60's or 70's baby, but yes I am 90's who lived on a remote area somewhere in Mindanao Philippines ,where most of the people who live there has no telivision to watch for such an entertainment but we only have a radio to rely on specially when it comes music and yes I could hear lot of songs included her ,but at that time I didnt know her yet even I heard her songs for how many times, and there is one song of her that I heard and sing along with it and its "YESTERDAY ONCE MORE" . When I get on adult age and have the chance to work in the city at the same time exploring life in the city with embracing the modern technology world, I did research all of the songs Ive heard during my childhood and I found out that most of them is hers, Im like wooowww really??? Since then I could say that Carpenters is my favorite until now. And all of my previous work whenever they heard old love and sad songs, specially carpenters songs they said a person that comes first in their mind is me,because they 'll knew my genre of music even Im 28 years now. I still keep on singing her songs on karaoke, and whenever I want to go sleep I listen to hear songs first.🥰🥰 Such a great honor to know her in this documentary😊 I know she will reincarnate but in a different character with a hope that she still brought her wonderful voice.😊 They said, the best song ,is the songs that conveys sad lyrics🥲
I love the Carpenters music. I was stationed at Zaragoza AB, Spain and was performing in a talent competition in the USAF called Tops In Blue. I was getting ready to go to the competition when the Armed Forces Radio station announced the passing of Karen. I was absolutely heartbroken and had difficulty performing that evening. Such a tragic loss of life at a young age. I miss the music that I know was still inside you, yet continue to treasure the songs that cause tears of loss and love that you shared with your ever growing family of fans.
We’ve only Just Begun was sung at my wedding and is still my favorite, most touching Carpenters song, but I could have had so many of their songs sung as they all spoke my heart. To this day, 44 years later, they still walk my life path. I’m not quite sure how you did it but Richard, your writing, and in your singing Karen; you’ve made my path for my life. Thank you both.

wow man so smooth. The 70s were so awesome , especially when compared to whats unfolding all around us now. dont you agree some of best music and best times ???
Everything was much easier and simpler back then. People had real relationships, and weren't obsessed with their online personas and etherial online "relationships." The music was real and pure. And then came the power ballads -- how can you not like the power ballads! A simpler time -- before schools needed metal detectors and a police presence on campus. Karen's voice fitted the time period.

Take care.
She was truly sent by God. I hear her and my problems fade and I am calm.
Hope you are doing well. Wow 30 years of playing music, sounds like you've had an amazing life. 🕊️
So sorry she died so young. I watched a movie about her life. Such talent. She sang beautifully always smiling.but now we know she was mentally distressed I believe and anoxeria killed her. God please understand.
Hugs
It always hurts so much when we loose such beautiful performers before in their prime. So sad. But regardless the happiness and love they gave us, always stays with us. GOD BLESS them all.
Than you for the hours of joyful listening you have given so many fans. You sing forever in our hearts. ❤️🇨🇦
So sad, she didn’t see her own beauty n beautiful voice.
I know !! I do remember clearly when the news came ! I cried & mom asked me why I was crying !! I was real upset that she was so concerned about her looks while every female singer wished to have her voice ,she was a singer ,not a model ,but she let that( fear of overweight ,she wasn't even !! ) kill her !!! I was mad !!! I said she was stupid !! I was really upset !! What a loss !!! 💔💔
@@spark_6710 It's actually a disease.
It's called anorexia.
It has more to do with control.
She must've felt she wasn't in control of her life and food and weight was the 1 thing she could control.
Well, as in most with Anorexia or bulimia, in their mind they are in control.
They sadly don't realize the disease controls them. 😔
@@cidquakenbush302 Hi.Thank you for your reply ! I know !! Anorexia. Indeed ! I know some were like that in my life including my own sis. I have also seen American teens throwing up in toilets at restaurants !!! It's really bad ! It's really mental ,someone in their lives has to step in & help them !!! They need to know it's a serious disease !!! That they can die !
Thank you for your reply ! 💜💜💜💜🥁🐉🎵🎤🎶💕💞
Yes..🥰⌚🎶🎵🎵🎶🌹... 1969 SF born raised. Today still singing Janice JOPLIN. 10/2021
@@cidquakenbush302 That’s exactly right. When you can’t control the craziness going on around you, you can control what you put in your mouth.
That's the thing with the brightest stars they last only a short time, her voice still brings chills to my spine 💖
I was a 12year old when these 2 people touched my life forever and now as a 67 year old her voice is always on my mind, many thanks to Richard and Karen
Christmas songs sang by THE CARPENTERS ARE one of the best songs i look forward to at Christmas i love their songs so beautiful....... love listening to their songs
Karen had an angelical, tear-jerkingly-beautiful voice. 🏆
Loved watching this video, shed many tears. She was loved dearly by my daughter who passed away in May of 1983 at the age of 18. Both Karen and my sweet daughter had just begun... God Bless
That was fantastic...I grew up listening to the Carpenters...they were special...
As a Carpenter fan, I expected to watch the first 5 minutes of this video. I watched the whole thing. Loved/still love their music.
Her voice is so pure and so smooth, the tears just roll down my face as I listen. I can't stop them, nor do I want to....

She had an AMAZING voice and they reign as being the best sister and brother act.
An Angelic voice and what a talented group! So enjoyed this. Takes me down memory lane for sure.
Superstar is one of the greatest vocals ever laid down. It's one of a handful of songs that no one else should try because Karen's version is the definitive one.
Luther Van Dross' version was ok. And a big hit.
Try Bonnie Bramletts version. She wrote it with a few other superstars.
I ran across Superstar just a few years ago on a CD. I immediately fell in love with this song.
Karen Carpenter’s voice is as smooth as velvet. :)
Hey Catherine how are you doing over there ?
Karen and Richard a great brother sister combination with so much talent. His musical genius and Karen's voice or just perfect.
Refreshingly good music for a change. Love, Love, Love them. So glad they came along in my day. Richard, what a genius in arranging.
Brings back good memories. ❤️❤️❤️
In the history of the world, there will only ever be one Karen Carpenter.
Yes, and we're so lucky to have heard her amazing voice growing up.
Yes
Richard is grand karen is singing with the hevenly host
No one compares. She had the voice of an angel. Rest In Peace Karen🙏💖
I don't know about that. Check out a national phone book.
She put her heart and soul into her singing! .
I really enjoyed their music. Richard was the mastermind! He is amazing! I was in my teens and it was easy to sing to. I was shocked Karen died so young. I still enjoy listening today at 65.
Hi dear Nancy how are you doing over there ?
The Carpenters were two of the greatest musicians that ever lived. Their talent was incredible and they complimented each other so we'll. They dominated the first half of the 70s with such awesome iconic songs. One after another. It made you get excited what would come next. Don't forget their great Christmas album as well.
I LOVE that Christmas album!
It's the best.... Remembering seeing it in the fall of 1978 at Caldors
Bought it on the spot
Richard is still alive...
What an incredible duo! Karen had the most wonderful voice and made everything she sang memorable. To me “We’ve Only Just Begun” has to be their #1 of all time.
Danny Whittington// Our wedding song.
Made me want to open up a BofA account.
Thank you for posting this. It's literally the only way many people outside the UK would get to see this. Probably the best Carpenters documentary ever. So good to see the UK still has an affection for Karen and Richard. They will always be my favorites. I truly miss Karen. She was one of the greatest singers ever, and never knew just how good she was.
A star in Heaven.
Hi
Agree on all
I agree 👍👍👍💯😊😊😊
We treat them as if they were English - hope you don't mind! I think their Dad actually was English?
Taken too soon
I love Touch Me When We're Dancin' too...soooooo underrated.
Angelic voice unmatched.
Thank you for this beautiful playback. I'm 74 now and my heart still breaks when I think of Karen and her beautiful voice taken from us so soon. Bless you Richard for all your wonderful talents and entertainment for many years.
This is a wonderful video! Thank you!
My idols! Still brings a smile and calmness to my life as it did as a child ❤️
"We've Only Just Begun"
The beautiful harmonies are simply amazing!!
All her songs I must admit, all of them are my favorites until now.
Hey dear Joyce how are you doing over there ?
She was brilliant on the drums as well as her exquisite voice. Gone too soon...
76 now…remember the first time I heard this voice on the radio…I was memorized immediately. An angel’s voice! 😊🎼
Most beautiful voice in history!
Love them both to this very day.
it means so much to hear a superstar like petula clark praising the carpenters. great musicians are frequently in awe of each other.
What a great show, glad that I found it. It melted my heart and brought a few tears.
Love this woman! A sound of Angel. My son passed this year 35 years old. He liked that I was listening to the Carpenters ❤
I am so sorry for your loss.
Close to you is a perfect testament of the magic & power that Karen's voice had.
It’s a beautiful story of love between a brother and sister who became famous together and were 2 parts of a whole that was greater than the sum of their individual efforts, just beautiful.
HER voice is an angel. love listening all her songs
I remember this so clearly on the radio when I was younger. Perfection
Rainy days and Mondays is another Carpenters masterpiece. so sad Karen left us too young. 🙏🤍
Thank you Richard . Karen will always be young beautiful and the other half of the Carpenters
The Voice of an Angel , she is missed .
Thank you for this Wonderful Video from an Icon Carpenters..❤❤❤They Touches Every Human Being who loves Music as its Best🙏🏻✊🙌🏻😇
My sister's favorite band. Shared to her, stayed and listened for me.
Merry Christmas darling by Karen Carpenter is truly an epic on Christmas holidays !!!
The song that will bring back remembering beautiful memories...
Arguably the best female vocalist of her generation.
I still keep on singing her songs on karaoke, and whenever I want to go sleep I listen to hear songs first.🥰🥰
Such a great honor to know her in this documentary😊 I know she will reincarnate but in a different character with a hope that she still brought her wonderful voice.😊
They said, the best song ,is the songs that conveys sad lyrics🥲
Amazing songs, amazing talent so sad she died so young and didn't know how loved and wonderfully talented so was. The Carpteners bought such joy to people.
Great film and style so eloquently showcasing their genius.I still tear up every time i hear Superstar and the rarely mentioned Solitaire....no one else could sing that song as Karen so hauntingly did.Beautiful.
Who could not love Karen. She moved my heart with her perfection in music.
Love Karen and Richard! I flew on the same Airplane with them to Australia in 1972. Went to see them perform, it was amazing. RIP Karen, Much Love Richard❤️🥰
Who are the two people who gave this video a thumbs-down?
In my opinion Karen Carpenter is the greatest female voice of all time ever
Guess they have hearts of wood but Karen will eventually win them over because she was a good Carpenter
@@edmundpower1250 Hearts of wood and ears of tin?
I think about my Daddy, who I lost when I was 9, we listened to the Carpenters on our drive to the ski lodge. ❤
wow man so smooth.
