I have all the radios except the Paladin. I think personally for the money you spend on a radio with all the features this one offer, I think it is a great system with the open TX. Growing pains are common in any new radio system and the company does address them . I am an old dog that started out with the JR system in the early 70's. They had their problems at that time also. My one radio kept dropping tuning at 72mHZ. That radio was returned a number of times before the company finally sent me a new one. At the time Circus Hobbies was the dealer handling the situation. My point is that the new radios do have growing pains but are well worth what you pay for them. At the moment my daily driver is the Jumper T16 and the Radiomaster TS16S. Both have been excellent radios with no problems to date. Come back in 5 years and do this commenting about the radios again.

Yeah, love my PL18 too. Have it for a year now and it didn’t give a single glitch. Binds in a second and the range is insane. “Reliable” is the word that comes to mind.

Interesting talk on choosing a radio. You have gone through some of the thoughts circling in my head. My radio journey is similar to yours. I also started with Flysky i6 two years back. Then I thought to get something a bit more advanced and got the Jumper T8SG V2. The T8SG is good and had lot features and protocols too, with the built-in multi protocol module. After a while again I found out OpenTX and got a Jumper T16 Pro. And like you again, I have upgraded the T16 with the USB-C board and the folding handle. I am also very tempted to buy the Radiomaster TS16 but still thinking whether to switch or not. My Jumper fortunately has not given me any problems (yet) except the hassle of USB port not charging from standard chargers. I still like to stay with OpenTX so the Paladin is not in my horizon so far. But the Paladin is certainly a very well built and reliable radio as many people are reporting.

Great video. The Open TX and Radiomaster fan boys will have the tar and feathers waiting for you. I've switched from Open TX to Graupner for similar reasons.

I have had mine now for about a month and can agree it has a very nice quality feel to it. But I am having some issues with it, I cannot assign 3 levels of exponential to my preferred switch, I cannot start the total flight timer with the throttle stick, just won't work for me, and finally, I like to add a second or two delay for the spoileroons on my multiplex solius when switching them on, just won't work on this function but works with other functions. This is an upgrade for my old jr xg8, but I might be going back to it? Might be something I am doing wrong? But it is very frustrating. Also, the supplied voice is awful, hopefully changeable in the future. And finally, some of the main function trim switches are in the wrong place.

Yes you will be able to fly drones no problem. But you need an AFHDS 3 compatible receiver and I’m not sure many drones will come with that. They will probably have AFHDS 2, which won’t work, although I think you can get an external module for the Paladin. Thanks for watching 👍

Just subscribed👍thanks for this video. Find myself midst this dilemma. Selling my Futaba 18sz😨 I want to fly FPV fixed wing with more range required than what the 18sz is capable of. TBS not fittable to it (don’t want to patch on etc etc)
My choice seems to be between Radiomaster (bit scared if the Open TX system, steep learning curve??)
and the Fly Sky Paladin which I had in my hands and it felt fantastic. Solid, fantastic gimbals, overall quality and possible JR module bay for TBS, long range possible with Gly Sky modules. I like it a lot, the operating system much simpler than Open TX but a bit worried about
    Voice prompts on switches??
Touch screen not the best in sunlight??
Any ideas or suggestions would be highly appreciated
    Regards from South Africa

      Fly Sky modules🧐

Thanks for subscribing! Don’t forget the new AFHDS 3 protocol does 3km range anyway and also flysky have a new 2.4ghz long range module out too. Saying that the radiomaster tx16s is also a great bit of kit. I’m a big fan of opentx, it’s pretty easy once you get going and there are loads of tutorials on it. Radiomaster do a master fire combo which comes with a TBS module. I think I would seriously consider that if I were you. 👍

I still am mad at FlySky about this radio. Ridiculously good hardware kneecapped by asinine software, no voice customization and garbage support. If they wanted to sell out of these instantly they'd team up with the EdgeTX devs and release V2 with a SD card slot and optional EdgeTX support.
