    Goodmorning, should we input only forces acting on direction/plane we want to calculate or forces acting out of plane too?

      Hello matteo,
      The rotational stiffness is also affected by the existence of other simultaneous forces in particular the axial compression. Accordingly you may consider only other DOMINANT forces along with the subject moment.

      @@puttattjayarajan1199 so It should be better to do not take into account out-plane forces like bending moment or shear.

    what loads shall we input when checking the stiffness, factored or service?

      The moment - rotation curves depend upon on the member sizes and the connection details and the loads do not play any role in determining the initial stiffness.

    sir can u explain why bolt failed if pedestal size is less . if increase pedestal size bolt will be pass?

    • @puttattjayarajan1199
      @puttattjayarajan1199  2 роки тому

      The bolt capacity is governed by various factors of which the important one is the pull out capacity calculated from shear capacity of concrete. Larger the pedestal size , more the area of concrete contributing to resistance and thereby enhance the capacity of bolts. Ensure that proper edge distance of bolts from concrete pedestal edge as per the standards is maintained

      @@puttattjayarajan1199 as u said is correct sir if we provide less size anchor will fail in anchor breakout strength. as per u r tutorial 16 we have provide 300mm offset concrete pedestal. practically we will not provide that much of offset. as per code pedestal edge to bolt centre is 6 times diameter of bolt. But in ideastatic we will provide actual size anchor bolt failed in concrete breakout strength.

    sir why do not you make videos using IS 800 code

      Hello rajendra ,
      Thanks for ur comments. It is only a matter of changing the code from EC3 to IS800.
      However, IS 800 do not provide the behavior of different components of base plate to arrive at moment -rotation curves and based on my experience is a poorly written document compared to EC3 and AISC codes.
      It is also important that we verify our program outputs using well written code guidelines. This hand-verification for base plate is not possible in case of IS 800 codes.
      Hope this will answer your query.
