- In this instalment of Carp Life we join Mark Pitchers on the bank as he shows us what he got up to in August. Mark's tutorial sessions continue to throw up more fish for his lucky customers. There's a first over at his Wainstones Pool, and a family holiday sees Mark and his children head off to Disney Land Paris.
Carp Life - Each month Mark will give you a no-holds-barred look at what it's like to work and live in the fishing industry. From his roles at carp fishing tackle giants Fox International and leading carp bait company CC Moore, to the work involved in running a successful carp fishery. As well as holding angling tutorials, shooting magazine features for top names such as Carpology and Total Carp,, filming and DVD projects, Mark always finds time to spend with his family. Interesting tactics on controlling the "small fish/fry" problem.
Allowing predators such as gooseander and cormorants is refreshing. Normally its, Bang a few moggies in there!
The introduction of perch seems an intelligent solution also.
All the best on the fisheries regeneration and me and my son hope to fish it when its ready....as long as it takes.....;)

Awesome fishing dude. And for what it's worth i think your fry are more stunning than any 20's. Also, I won a match with an Eel as a kid. 7lb 12oz and it scared the shit out of me. Landed in a keepnet. I didn't touch it. I thought i had caught an alien.

Try bread in your trap mark. Plus try emptying it next day . Sometimes the longer u leave them the less u get

gwl78 I'll be putting perch in there for sure but not pike. I put 3 pike in before and they bred like mad and I ended up with loads of them. In the end people were getting bit off quite regularly, at least once or twice a week! They'd just swim through the lines and get it caught in their teeth and bite people off!!
#chalkenge Mark if I give you a tutorial and you catch the biggest fish in any lake you choose because of my work you have to give me a job at your lake full time (good money) lol
