I think in this moment a huge part of Jax died too ... The other part died when he found out what his mother did. It was an important death, this one. Opie was a huge impact for Teller, and both of them "got this". It's sad, but also genius you know. In a way, Opie had to die because he was so lost since Donna, and after that his dad and now his baby with Lyla... Hard life. Anyway, something tells me, he met with Jax and now are sharing a beer with John and Piney ,Bobby, Half Sack, Kozik , Otto, Phil, and The chinesse guy from the club, Clay and Juice. Well... Clay and Juice are at another table.
Chinese guy was named V-Lin. I think Juice would be in heaven. He had good intentions but got screwed by everyone. No matter what he did he was fucked.
SPOILER ALET FOR ALL SEASONS! - For those leaving comments saying how it was a huge mistake to kill of Opie, I think you're missing the wider ramifications for the entire arch, which is the corruption and eventual death of both SAMCRO and Jax Teller... From the very get-go we have watched Jax Struggle against his true good nature and the violent necessities he needs in order to fulfill his role in the SoA MC.. As the series have dragged on JT jr has become progressively more violent and more volatile (And a worse man by far than Clay ever was) in order to achieve his ends. After losing Opie one half of his moral compass, Jax was sent on a true spiral of bloodshed becoming a ruthless thug, blindly following his own path with no regard for its effects on other people; (look at the damage he has done to Tara, Gemma, Clay, Juice, Tig, Opie himself and Nero to name a few) much like Clay did but, this time, under the delusion that he is doing it for the right reasons for the club, and not himself. Following season 6's finale and the death of Tara, his seondary moral compass, Tax stands untethered, full of rage, nobody to pull him back from the brink, which will inevitably eventually lead to his downfall, probably taking the club with him. It's the story that sometimes, in order to defeat the evil you're replacing, you become worse than that you sought to destroy... Opie's death makes huge sense in the grand scheme of things. If you think SoA will end well, you haven't been paying attention.

I'm only caught up to season 3, but I love Opie's character (and the actor that plays him) He seems like he has the most heart out of all of them, he's strong, silent, and observant but speaks up when necessary. Plus he's loyal af, and has more of a sweetness and a conscience than any of the others IMO.

My hubby and are watching SOA for the umpteenth time 😒😲🤓 And we just got through watching the Opie's prison demise YES I CRIED LIKE A BABY!!! It hurts EVERYTIME! IMO ALL the actors and actresses made a DEEP IMPRESSION .... BUT his death since it was SO BRUTAL AND REALLY UNDESERVING like Donna's STILL CUTS LIKE A KNIFE!!!!!! I think that, that's probably the reason why I CRY LIKE A 9 MONTH OLD before, during and after the scene.
The show was enjoyable and something new, but in order for it to become grand they would have needed to cut out all the fake cool action montages where they fought ,did shootings or drive-by's to rock music so many times completely without consequences. These sequences happened in every other episode for the sake of action but it broke my emergence and the dark realism in a show about killers and trafficers of drugs and weapons. It was glamorizing and sometimes cheesy as hell.
I think they made a mistake killing Opie off, at least so soon! It didn't have to happen, yes the decision was made so they could change Jax's character ark and what happens to his psyche when he loses his best friend but Ryan Hurst was my favorite character and I was extremely pissed and sad that they took him out!! Especially since Ryan didn't wanna leave the show, he was heartbroken that he had to leave and that makes it that much harder. They could've at least let him finish the season or something...

Actually, I think Opie's death was to show that this kind of life is not without its victims. Plus, SOA is based on Hamlet. So it's possible almost everyone will be dead by the end of it.
Serve The Servants I agree, Jax just became President and was trying to steer the club into a new direction, but at the same time cleaning up Clay's mess while trying his hardest not to have more club blood shed. Opies death was a symbol that no matter what you do the President has to make sacrifices, and sometimes it's ones you can't avoid, no matter how hard you try. You can also interpret Opie's death as Jax's first failure as President. He was following in Clay's footsteps, keeping secrets from the club and going behind every ones back, in the end it cost him his best friend/brother and right hand.
Every death that happens on the show, is to progress the storyline and the character progression of Jax and the other guys. So no, killing Opie wasn't stupid at all.
They really touched on the way humans really think and do act w out the law. If only the govt law acted like this this world be so much realer and better
