Great interview. Also loved that second episode of fresh ice. That war room was intense. I'm really happy they kept Bill Armstrong because he seems like the right guy for the job.

Frank is great. He was out in front of the relo story when the one az beat writer kept telling everyone it was garbage.
Craig Morgan has always been a team shill and stayed that way till the very end. Issue is most of the fanbase didn’t realize and still think he’s a real reporter.
He was saying the Tempe vote would pass and the Relo story was nonsense. 0-2. Team shill w a press pass is the best way to sum it up.

The Raiders have more lives than a cat. Their fans, whether they be from Oakland or Los Angeles, have forever stayed loyal. That team just has a different mystique that allows it to retain fans no matter where it finds itself.

Yeah have to agree, didn't think that was the best example but still understood what Frank was getting at.

Any new owners willing to support a team in the desert? Arizona does not deserve a team again.

@@anishsingh7597 nothing solid but a lot of rumors about the suns owner and former NFL players but that’s about it nothing for sure but Ishbia is our best chance and remodel footprint to host both teams (suns and yotes)

Frank "Phoenix will work because the people from Quebec City will fly to Arizona for hockey games."
How to say you're a shill for the NHL without actually saying it...😂
    Couple things to note...
Winnipeg waited 15 years for a new team (1996-2011)
I get that Phoenix is one of the top ten largest cities in America (10th - 4,845,832 population)
BUT I also realize that Houston (5th - 7,149,642 population) and Atlanta (6th - 6,104,803 population) are larger than Phoenix...

And they also don't have NHL teams - therefore those are the cities in the South that Phoenix is competing with to get an expansion team.
I personally feel a 2029 date is impossible as of today.
    Phoenix has no arena.
And when is the bid for land again? Where is the arena going to be located again????
As of October 2024...they STILL HAVE NO PLOT OF LAND...
There is that plot of land that was SUPPOSED to be bought by Muerelo (that parcel of land for auction North of Loop 101 on border of Scottsdale Road)
But a few more thigns to note that plot of land was STARTING BIDS at $68.5 million...
And furthermore that undeveloped plot of land has:
    - no existing infrastructure
    - no water rights
    - no sewage system built
    - no road access
The renderings proposed were for an area, practice facility, hotels, restaurants, a casino etc.
    - the price tag for the arena was approximately $500 million
    - the price tag for the entire district was approximately $3 billion
BUT with no existing infrastructure at this plot of land the total cost to build will ACTUALLY be higher than $3 billion - you still need to build sewage systems, roads, and acquire water rights...those were not included in the $3 billion proposal (neither was the $68.5 million for the land...)
Between 2012 and 2021 the Arizona Coyotes lost -$141,600,000 (141.6 million USD)...so you will NEVER recoup your losses in Arizona...not in Scottsdale, not in Glendale, not in Phoenix, not in Tempe...(Not in Atlanta, not in Houston, not in Miami...)
Ottawa Senators were sold for....$950 million in 2023...
Utah Hockey Team cost....$1.2 billion in 2024 (this is not the value of the Coyotes...)
SO it is safe to assume the next NHL team will be approximately $1 billion USD
$3 billion district (casino hotels restaurants etc)
    $1 billion team
    $500 billion arena
$68.5 million plot of land is the STARTING BID....
    - no infrastructure still...no roads...no water rights...no sewage...so the cost will be MUCH higher...
    TOTAL = 4,568,500,000
4 billion 568 million dollars...as a low estimate from the PLANS ARIZONA LAID OUT AS OF 2024....
    Now...my point is this...
How is a team that lost $141.6 million dollars ever going to recoup 4.568 billion dollars in losses?
The Arizona Coyotes were overall a net loss team for 28 years - what a terrible investment another team would be....realistically how many years would it take to recoup the losses?
    fun fact:
Florida Panthers ACTUALLY lost more money for the NHL over that span than Arizona did...
    -$152,900,000 = Florida Panthers (Miami - 6,183,199 population)
