I grew up playing a Juno-106, which was a lovely machine. I can remember going from just making wind storm sounds with the noise and filters, to making dopey tunes with a 4-track, to discovering the joy of midi and sequencing.
I use Juno-60 plugins excessively on most of my tracks and even got myself a Soundforce SFC-6 controller to play them, but the original is still something else. Too bad they got so expensive over the last few years.
Great compilation of songs there. Fantastic synth from Roland and one of the finest synths made in my eyes. Synths was so much back then and Juno’s was the cheaper options to the Jupiter. So many big hits was made of this wonderful machine and still sound’s fresh today, by the way nice to see a bit of Emulator in there lol. As always great video and thanks for sharing the beautiful Juno with us.
@@retrosound72 Okay. Thanks for your detailed answer. To be honest I was a little bit surprised that you with your knowledge picked this Cure song. Also gives me an answer with which synth gear this awesome synth sound was done. Did you use a special factory preset on the Juno?
The sound is different. But not good or bad. Different. The Juno60 sounds more 70s like. Perfekt for string pads and vibraphone sounds. The 106 sounds more 80s. A more bassy JX8P. Great for deep bass sounds. And typical 80s pads. I like both.
I always felt the later Roland analogs had kind of more sluggish envelopes and a less punchy sound. Like you could make exactly the same patch on the Juno 60, 106 and Alpha Juno and each newer generation got less punchy.
you were told nonsense. ;D I only use the chorus on some sounds. It has to fit because the chorus colors the sound a lot. I never use it for bassy sounds.
Obviously these aren't all original Juno Sounds. The Cure a forest was recorded in 1979 before the Juno existed and Save a Prayer was the Jupiter 8. I'm Pretty sure none of the Eurythmics song was a Juno also. Is your video just supposed to be similar sounds the Juno can create?
@@KlaraKopf Ja sehr gut sogar. Der Juno war auch mein erster Analoger. Mir würde es ebenfalls sehr weh tun. Zumal es heute nicht so einfach ist, so ein Schmuckstück wieder zu beschaffen.

agree with you!
I have the Roland Cloud which includes access to all their legendary range of VSTs, but I find myself going back to the Juno-60 again and again.
🎹🥰
I had a 106 in the 90s. They have an excellent user friendly interface. I learned a lot from it.
Agree with you
Nice, from a time when Roland wasn't featured twice a month on Bad Gear. 😋👍
haha yes agree ;)

Excellent !! 😂😂
Absolutely loved this Retro.
Thank you! :)))
The 60 got something special on its sound. Nice demo!
Agree with you Jose. 👍
My favorites are the Eurythmics and Real Life examples. I don't particularly know much about Roland keyboards but they sound terrific!
Agree with you 🎹🙌
Wow...captain of her heart!

The sound you used on A Forest, i always thought that was Robert’s guitar. Still sounds cool
Either way!

The first record was done with the Maxikorg. Later with the Juno

Hi Juno enthusiasts!
What, according to you, is the biggest difference between the Juno 60 and the Juno 106, _SONICALLY._
Happy to hear you opinions.
