Really nice project. An alternative I would like to add for hanging mirrors or picture frames is the often forgotten French cleat. It can be made in the shop for cheap and it allows the project to sit perfectly flush on the wall. Your videos are at the top of my must watch list. Your explanations are clear and you speed up the video through the “paint drying” portions. Very well done. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and time.
So cool! Finally learned how this is done as a DIY with your video; have had a Pinterest picture of a Live Edge Mirror (didn’t even know this is what is was called- just loved the wood on the mirror look) for years and said “One day!” 🙏🏼
Great video 👍 would you ever try holding the mirror in tight with some sort of hardware in case someone breaks it? Seems like gluing it in means you are screwed, but if its removable it could be replaced. thanks for the video
I am jealous of your large tools! Jointer, band saw....what was the process of acquiring these awesome tools? Also, how did your get your significant other to sign off? Any suggestions for convincing arguments? Jedi mind tricks?
I've watched nearly all of these videos and love them all but I don't see one on a floating shelf. I'm looking at installing a couple of floating shelves in my house but I'm not too keen on drilling out some big holes into the shelf so I might just mount some brackets on the bottom.
I have a big olive slab which im going to cut in half put a big mirror in between. i wanted to ask what's the best and safest way to install it, since the risk of the mirror shattering is big. Should i reinforce it with big bars on the back?
Nicely done!! one question- what could one use if they do not have dado's available? i cant seem to figure out how i would use a router to accomplish the same. would anyone have a jig they recommend?
Hey Cam, huge fan of your stuff and really love these mirrors. I’m currently in the process of building one which is a bit bigger, 83”x36” with a slab of spalted magnolia. I was curious if you’ve made any of these mirrors that are larger like that and what you might do differently for a larger piece. The slab is currently about 1.5” thick, which is much thicker than what you used and I don’t have a bandsaw that could do the resaw work. Any help is greatly appreciated, Happy New Year!
Just to check an guessing u made bunch passes on the table saw to get it to all fit snug? Thank u for this video it is exactly what a was looking for not sure if the algorithm has picked it up but thank u and btw it's beautiful! 🏴👍
I have a couple of questions about building a mirror like this. I noticed the rabbits you cut on the back side of each live edge was rather large. Is there a recommended width for this? Also, I found a mirror adhesive online (Amazon) specifically for mirrors, Loctite PL 520 Mirror Adhesive. Could I use this to attach the mirror to the live edge or should I use clear silicone? Thanks for your help.
He said that dark silicone is not ideal, because You can see the reflection of dark through the mirror. Mirrors are transparent to some point that you do not notice it on daily basis
This is such a cool idea. I love this idea. Didn’t even know this was possible. One question though? Are the Dado rips necessary? And if they are, how can you get them with the tool you used?
do you think you will ever be interested in giving online classes for learning how to build and play with wood? i cant stand college and the amount of money they take as well as how much unnecessary time is taken out of days, months, even years, to just play and learn as you go...i would be one of the firsts to learn from you and your team!
Cam, (sp?)- DUDE- you're the best source of info for me... 25 yrs in Cabinet Refinishing and jumping into Live Edge work...EPIC! THANK YOU!👊👊👊
Nicely done Cam. Remember when live edge lumber was destined for the burner
This video is highly under viewed. End product is gorgeous, great work!
Oh thanks! Feel free to put the video on loop for a few weeks.

That’s a good call!
I love that bandsaw. Seems like a very well used tool in your shop.
Huge fan of your work! I appreciate you sharing the process of what you do and how you do it! 💪
First time seeing a mirror like that, really creative
I love the talking explaining with your videos. Can you please consider posting a tutorial build on. Live edge resin cabinet doors.....
Those mirrors are gorgeous
Thanks!
Great info! I’ve been asked to build a 4-foot diameter round one, with live edge across the top and bottom. This helps a ton. Thanks much 🍻
Ya man!
Very cool build. I'll need to try this when I finally get a table saw. Thanks for the tutorial :)
Deathtollscorner of course. Let me know if you want any opinions on the saw or blades 👍🏼
Assisto todos os seus vídeos Amo os seus trabalhos ❤
Cam- Per usual, yet another really nice build. Good detail- nice video. Well done!!

There ya go!
I think I’d prefer thinner pieces of wood surrounding the mirror to make it more functional. It would also save a bit of good wood for other projects
Love your style of videos. Also, love the live edge mirror, too.
Fine Woodworking of South Carolina oh thanks! Still working on the style

Really, really nice! Will have to try this one too!
Wooden appreciate that!
Go beavs! Im a young wood worker in albany going to start making a few of these soon!
Wyatt Walls nice, I’m from Albany!
Also, Go Beavs!
Really enjoy your videos you are a true artist. 👍
Thanks Rebecca!
Those would be sweet sliding closet doors.
Sure would!
What would be a “specific mirror adhesive” that would work better than silicone?
Two down. Loving it..

Ya, router and straight edge
You could also use a regular table saw blade, making multiple passes about 1/16" apart.
Loving your channel Cam! If you didn’t have a table saw and the dado blades, how would you have taken the bulk of the waste out?

The silicone is gonna breathe really well. Not sure how much flexibility the mastic has. The wood is gonna move seasonally.
Hey cam, what do you price your mirrors at?
Have you ever tried like a #7 hand plane or just huge long hand plane an try for the smooth finish instead of sanding
I haven’t 😊
Great video. Wondering about a standing floor mirror with an easel back- size either 60" or 72" tall. Your thoughts?
Why not?
Cam,
How are those flip flops performing when cutting and planning?
Nothing better
As a Canadian I can’t find odie oil. Is there anything as good that I can find here???
I need one of these
Hi Cam, In the video you mention that silicon is not ideal for mirror backs. Is there a specific mirror adhesive that I should use instead?
He said that dark silicone is not ideal, because You can see the reflection of dark through the mirror. Mirrors are transparent to some point that you do not notice it on daily basis
Looks cool.. 😍😍😍😎😎
Thanks!
Cam, how would you do this without those saw blades?
Thank you
As always very cool.
How do you ship an item like this or do you only do local sales?
Perfect
Just recently found you channel and really enjoying your work and the style of your videos. Great work sir. 😎
OneVeryOrdinaryMan happy to hear it! I’m still pretty new to it. So figuring out what I can as I go
This is such a cool idea. I love this idea. Didn’t even know this was possible. One question though? Are the Dado rips necessary? And if they are, how can you get them with the tool you used?
They are just for looks
Thank you
Hey Cam I would like to know what is the green thing that you use on your ban saw to hold on the wood ?😃
Bow pro featherboard something
@@BlacktailStudio Thanks
Yep, seeing that you only upload once a week, I have resorted to rewatching your old videos.
Digging deep!
How long does odies last? Like before you run out of it? It’s close to $50 for a tiny ass jar...is it worth it?
James Nelson goes a long long ways. Only need a tiny bit. Lasts way longer than a bigger can of poly.
How in the world do you ship this? :o
I wonder, why bother rebating the live edge if you’re planning on having it stand off the wall on batons anyway?
Great vid by the way.
Keep it as slim as possible was my goal
@@BlacktailStudio How would you attach the mirror without the rabbet? Just glue?
Can you make one for me a full length tall mirror ? I have been searching everywhere :(
I can make anything 😊
I wish I lived closed I live in Massachusetts! 😩
Thanks for posting this tutorial, the idea is great and the product is beautiful. Great idea on using silicone for bonding; I never thought of that!
Be Tve thanks for saying so! Glad you like it.
How much for this produkt?
Depends on the size
try a product called LEVEL SILICONE IT'S CRYSTAL CLEAR, EXCELLENT PRODUCT, YOU WILL LOVE IT around $9.00 a tube but worth it. At Lowe's or Home depot
Oh nice!
Why not try faux live edge furniture? Its pretty cool as its cheap and everyone can afford it unlike the actual live edge slabs.
Doesn’t look natural unfortunately

Cam, your footwear is just so wrong and dangerous.
But that finished mirror is just so stately.
