Thank you! I also have a Milwaukee and just pulled it all the way out accidentally. Those little screws are really easy to strip with a hand screwdriver, so I switched to a nice sharp bit in the drill and a lot of down pressure with my drill after failing with the screwdriver. Came out and went in super cleanly and I was back up in a couple minutes. Thanks again!

Thank you! This worked perfectly on my Craftsman 25' tape measure! The first tip didn't work for mine, but after I unscrewed it, it easily wound itself back up. If I'd realized it was this easy, I would have done it a month ago when it broke.

Thank you so much for helping me and my little brother out! We found a tape measure and we wanted to see how long it would stretch out to and then realized it was 7ft, we started stressing out when it wouldn’t go back in so I searched a video up so I won’t get in trouble and this one came up and it helped! Thank you! I then realized that it said how long the tape measure was on the front. 🤦♂️

Good advice. I was lucky. I removed the screws, was trying to separate the parts, but having no success. But then the tape started to go back in. So, all I had to do was remove the screws, let the tape go back in, and then reinstall the screws. Thanks!

Oh dear goodness thank you. I bought a brand new Milwaukee tape measure for the house as I had been using some weird gas station toy tape measure for the longest time and got tired of struggling with longer measurements. First time measuring my new patio to buy some curtains, I extended the tape beyond the 16ft it was designed for, my patio cover was 22 ft wide at its longest lol. I thought I ruined it permanently and almost threw it away. Left it all stretched out in my backyard for 2 days as I was too annoyed to go out and look at what I screwed up lol. Then at 11pm at night tonight, I decide to just google to see if I can fix it. Sure enough, find this video, immediately go outside and make an ungodly amount of noise bringing the outstretched tape into the house and into my office to watch this video at the same time I try to fix it lol. Boom! Fixed! Thank you!

Sadly, my tape won't go back in and there's no screws to open it up to fix it that way either. I've done this to few a cheap tape measures and it's annoying. Guess this one is going in the bin! Great video though! Lesson learnt is don't buy cheap tape measures! I'll make sure the new one can be taken apart when I buy my replacement.

Boom! Fixed! Thank you!
