It's easy and often done in other pvp games with ladder-rankings. If you did not participate in the game mode for a certain time frame, you lose points. For example: You did not do any offensive Arena matches for 2 weeks, you lose 5 points per day or sth. Same thing with Honor duel. People with those rankings should at least be forced to play the mode if they want to keep their rankings. Supreme Arena isn't that much of an issue, imo, since you have to replace your defense every week. That's why, if you don't play it you will lose matches since often your dps will be auto placed in front line.
I've recommended this before and I'll say it again. There needs to be some sort of rating decay in Arena. 2 weeks seems fair and it should be around 10 points per day. If you are a whale and come back you can easily make this back up. We have a sit like this on our server where a top 3 guy with P3/P4 God comp quit and it's a pain trying to knock him out. Once these types fall out of Champion ranking then feel free to purge or exclude them from being seen. This will only get worse if/when they merge low pop servers.

With the inclusion of a new calibration that let's returning players get back to where they originally were easily. Dream Realm and Arcane Labyrinth are fine due to daily/weekly rankings anyway. Or take them out of the ranking completely after 28/30 days of login in at all. With said calibration option to let them come back easily. I don't even need those players to play the respective game modes, but if they quit the game completely, they just take up important space in the rankings! Supreme Arena seems more difficult. Your rank therefore doesn't reflect your overall performance at all, but more how (un)lucky you have been. =/ A similar rank decay to the regular Arena could be introduced to Supreme Arena if they'd use a more traditional ranking system in there as well.
The traditional ranking system punishes player who have obviously strong defensive teams. Why attack the player in 20th when i could just beat the player in 50th and steal 20th place. The ability to attempt to take positions near reset time is more lower spender friendly as even if your defensive team isnt that good if you can make a good attack just before calcualtions (particuarly if your on the less popular of the 2 calculation times) your able to net a higher rank than you normally would be able too.

I wish they just removed the 3 strike and your out and calculate points based on total wins over 9 games. This might make more artifacts good at various stages of the run and not just the ones that are good all around and early.
Do it like LoL and TFT do it. You progressively lose rank if you have not played a game in 7 days, which increases by a day for every game played up to 7 again. Instead of games make it either arena fights or daily logins.
Theres is a way easier way than kicking inactive accounts... what afk arena does it it has resets of arena ladder every 2 weeks or months, that would resolve any inactive accounts and keep ppl to climb ladder again

Losing players is always a factor in these games. It's expected. If they implement a decay feature, and you don't want to be purged, play the game, if you don't like the game, then it doesn't matter.
Instead of a purge there should be a kind of “shadow ban” system. Once your account hits 7ds inactive-you get removed from all current ranks temporarily until you log back in

If then the inactive player comes back he can easily climb the rank again For arena i think it only matters on campion rank where there can only be 200 players max and maybe legendary III for the top 100 that have the fight to climb up to champion, lower tiers doesn't really matter. So they could do a reduction of x points for all in champion and legendary III weekly and if you get to 0 points you automatically get kicked out of champion tier. This way the inactive players will eventually get out of champion and will let other people reach it, but if they comeback they can easily climb back up to champion
Honor duel is the place where some form of rating decay is needed, the reasoning for this is that inactive players in honor duel don't lose any points ever since players are not dirrectly attacked in honor duel. Regular arena its not as relavent they should gradually get pushed down the rankings as people beat them down, the caveat is that due to arena leveling being capped for so long its dificult to use a level advantage to push them down. Finally there supreme arena which as far as i can tell would be completly uneccesary to have a purge (also it would be hard to do as their no rating points just positions). Its not nessecary for a few reasons. 1. If they have quit they cant set their weekly defenses so should be easily able to be beaten. 2.Unlikely regualr arena there arent level capped so you can over level them to beat them. 3. They will naturally get pushed down the rankings as they will gradually get beaten an unlikel normal arena then winning defense doesnt improve there rank. In Short Honor duel definently needs a system in place to decay inactive players, arena likely doesn't but it might help expedite there progress of being demoted. Super arena certainly doesnt as theirs already systems in place to push inactive players down the leader boards, also seasonal reset will boot them out of their rank completely.
I would recommend that if a player is over 2 weeks to a month inactive, remove them from the leaderboard without taking the points. If they come back within 2-3 months, they will get back on the leaderboards with the points they already have. After 2-3 Months, they will be reset back to their default starting points.
Imo I feel it should reset weekly. For example the top 50 or so will all be reset at 1400pts. And re work their way up every week so everyone has a chance.
This is a seasonal game. Each season, purge the inactives. If they participated in the season, then that's their rank for the season. For non-seasonal content, just use the same cadance.
I fully understand the reasons not to purge inactives who have had to take a break due to rl. However, I feel the players who have just quit the game at high rankings with strong rosters are the bigger issue here. Just my 2 cents.
We now get same supremacy points for being top 1 or top 100 in Arcane lab and HD. I guess now only the rankings of Arena and SA counts. Maybe make it so they start slowly losing points after 7d, and after sometime removed from rankings while holding the reduced points, so even if they login back in future they can compete not far from where they left off.
My honor duel rankings are filled with people who have quit the game a long time ago, they are just hogging rewards away from people who are still playing the game. They should just remove them after 1 week of no login and when they log back in just give them their rankings back.
I mean they remove guild master who is inactive for a week, why not do the same to spenders who hasn't played for more than 7 days regardless if they are big spenders or not.
In regards to PvP yeah, inactive players should be purged. On my server the top 20 consists of people where half already quit...but have Paragons for Scarlita, etc in their defense. So until the meta shifts these players block spots and can't be driven out. I don't really care that much, but for fairness sake inactive people should lose their rank after 30 days latest imo.
For me it's straightforward: if you don't play the game, you shouldn't be rewarded for not playing it. So, eg I would suggest that everyone who hasn't played a single offensive match in Arena for the current period (one week) they should be pushed out of the Champion rank.
Yea, just kick them back out into the placement tier. If they become active again, they can climb back. Right now, they are sucking up resources from active players which hurts the game much more.
Just get rid of the level cap nonsense. then everyone will just pass inactives. It would also prevent the pointless stage of the season we are in now, where there is not really any benefit to playing the game. you just log in, collect everything and close the game.
I say to just leave it alone. The fix is most likely gonna be something that will be worse than anyone can imagine. I don't see arena as a problem. Eventually the meta will change or others will outlevel, star, paragon, whatever and beat the inactive players down. Someone that was top 20 last week was just knocked down to like rank 70. I can tell they quit/went inactive. Supreme Arena is seasonal content and will eventually go away. An inactive player will get out-leveled in time. I don't care about Honor Duels cuz it's the most rng nonsense. Are your first 3 artifacts bad? You lost! Did you get a great starting artifact but you keep getting heroes that can't take advantage of it at all? You lost lol! The only reason to care about it is the weekly rewards and now Guild Supremacy.

In my server the arena spots 8 - 6 are inactive players as well as number 2, but since they have divine comps with +20 stuff no1 can kill them 😂

Inactive players for 2-3 weeks should not be in ranking, in both arena and honor duel, bcz in the end guild ranking depends on them too

I feel 2 weeks is a good time of inactivity to start losing points or just dropping out of rankings to give the active players better rewards.

I did not realize there isn't a rank decay... that's insane.

No that's not the case. It's cascade. Top 1 gets 5x100 and 400 gets 1x100

In my server 5 top 10 players in arena have quit and because of their paragon cele/hypos its impossible to beat them

I disagree purging them. Since they put in real money and that’s what they deserve. Plus, no one can ensure they never come back.
