Thank you! I bought the cold smoker when I bought my masterbuilt specifically to do cheese(almost 2 years ago), and there it sits. Now I know what to do & I need to do it!
I've seen some people do this but have not tried it personally since I have the cold smoker attachment. My thought would be you do not get enough airflow in an electric smoker to keep the pellets lit like you do on other types of smokers.
@@madbackyard Thank you! When I get the smoker tube and try it, I’ll let you know how it goes. Another question: I don’t have a vacuum sealer, so should I use plastic wrap for the cheese after it has rested in parchment paper?
I have the same MB smoker and attachment , did you use that hook to secure the cold smoker to the main body , I tried but it never worked . I put casters on my MB to move it around but had to replace the feet on the attachment with long bolts so the hole would line up. Cheers , great video .
Yes, i used the hook to secure it to the inside. It's kind of a pain but once it's on you can tighten and it stays put pretty well. Not sure why they didn't just make it the same height as smoker with the legs on! I also switched out my back legs for casters so I can move it around the deck easier. More things I wish just came included standard. Thanks for watching!
Still watching, but why not use wood chips in the tube? Or maybe a mixture of pellets and chips. I bought the tube to use on my my pellet grill to get a bit more smoke than I'm getting from pellets. If you answer this in the video, I'll delete my comment.
Because of the amount of airflow in a pellet tube, wood chips tend to just ignite rather than smoke and smolder like pellets do. You can mix them together, I have done this before. Stick with about 25% wood chips interspersed evenly with 75% pellets. Try pellets alone first and see what you think though. You will get more smoke flavor from pellets burning in the tube than you do from the exact same pellets smoking in the grill itself. Just a function of a lower burning temperature creating more smoke and different flavors.
@@madbackyard Thanks. That makes sense. The pellet grill needs the pellets for both heat and smoke, but in cold smoking, the heat isn't necessary. I'll give it a shot.

Right on! Have fun!
This is a damn good idea! Thank you
Thanks for watching!
I copied your clump wood smoker using a metal bread pan charcoal and wood chunks worked great. Thank you grate idea 🤓🤓🤟🤟
Glad it helped! 👍
How long does cold smoked cheese last vacuum pack in the refrigerator
Thank you for this video! Could you put the pellet tube smoker in a Masterbuilt electric smoker?

Yes, you can just wrap tightly in plastic wrap, that should work well!
