0:38 there it is, her triple jump 0:41 she gets good oki out of AT and she also does a good job at breaking shield with her overhead. She also gets good reward of said overhead if she has setup an orb. 0:45 so nearly all of her knockdowns lead to good oki? At least in the corner 0:50 that's lightning fast and covers the whole bottom part of the screen. That + orbs makes her a neutral powerhouse I assume. Great screen control with a lot of disjointed hitboxes covering the stage. 0:52 that just really messed up Shiki's approach. Afraid to keep moving in the air, lands and still gets hit by it. 0:54 she's also going to be hard to anti-air or air-to-air because of the disjointed beam. It looks pretty safe. 0:58 another good neutral tool? that covers a lot of range, low crushes and gives a combo. That second hit that made the combo possible doesn't seem to be safe tho. 1:02 *huge* anti-air So she might be hard to anti-air but she does a good job at it? 1:07 oh so that just covers the whole damn stage. So that's the whole thing, make it so it's hard to move around because there's so many hitboxes everywhere, but sadly shield exists. 1:10 and there's her double air dash 1:19 this seems like a good position to be in? There's a orb right above you, so they can't land on you, but still can hit it, but you can counter their button with 3C or rising j.A? She didn't do anything tho. 1:26 she has one of those very low air dashes, so overshoot ain't a problem. 1:32 *hair movement* 1:46 there it is, her great air movement that gets her out of that scramble situation. 1:50 risk reward, if you hit the orb there's one less hitbox on the screen to worry about (and Aoko might be hit by your button if she messes up her positioning), the risk being if you mess up the timing she combos you. 1:54 she gets to do quite the damage using both jumps and she gets to use the extra air dash to set up oki. Like this a lot. 1:58 that overhead can be jump canceled to be safe? Is it the same from 0:58? So can she hit confirm it to a combo or jump to be safe on block? 2:00 she gets good whiff punishes and confirms with the lasers, good after a reverse beat reset on pressure. 2:04 just shield messing up her oki. 2:07 this is what I'm afraid of what's going to happen online... you just can't set things up without getting shielded and then there's the rps. But she seems good at baiting shield in those situations I guess, so there's definitely mixups there. 2:11 this seems like her main air combo ender, with great oki afterwards. I assume the orb is far enough so they can't shield it and instead they gotta first block her high-low 2:15 *neutral* 2:26 what a damned mix 2:32 she has a metered invincible reversal, nice. And she gets a good knockdown after. 2:36 how many orb variants there are? This one just squeezes you between two of them, so there's no escape by backdashing, and they're too far to wakeup shield it too, so you just gotta hold it. But they disappear after just a little bit. 2:40 so if she blocks they don't disappear, you gotta hit them, and that brings that risk reward thing from earlier I guess. 2:58 if she charges she's farther away so it's even harder to catch her, and there's also that hitbox in between you and her. 3:01 they be scrambling and shit 3:06 another great anti-air? 3:11 that orb is plus? 3:23 the double air dash is going to be so great to catch backdashes and all. 3:29 *defensive mechanics* 3:36 so you can run away and setup the orb in case that they might chase you. 3:42 again, good whiff punishes and good confirms (The song is so godlike in like this part) 3:50 those orbs are just fake outs to bait shield? That's amazing tho. 3:51 That freakin moon drive to punish the heat was crazy what the hell? 3:58 this song is SO GOOD She looks like such a cool character that might have a good time at dealing with shield with her oki, and that's insanely good. Plus the air movement is awesome.
These anti airs used to have a ton of recovery and multi hits so it's hard to catch an air counterhit I'd love to see her old combos in lumina like ones with charged 5C, EX orb hard knockdown etc

I think some people are overreacting a lil about the shield. It's annoying, but it's not THAT oppressive as an oki stopper. I'd love to see it toned down like everyone else though. IMHO, moon drive skills are the real problem when it comes to oki. Moon Drive replenishes so fast, and the cost for the skills feels so minute, that it just doesn't feel like you're risk anything using them. It's still a fun game and I keep coming back to it, but I definitely understand why so many people are turned off by the system mechanics. I just hope the devs have a change of heart sooner or later, for the health of the game.
Right? There is no issue with shield imo. I agree with you about the moon drive guage replenishing a little too fast tho. I play Dead or Alive so RPS systems being "upfront and in your face to try and guess right to advance your turn" is something I'm used to and rather enjoy. All fighting games have a form of RPS but certain ones have a mechanic brought to the front that do this and it's this that most people dislike for some reason. They feel like they're getting their combos interrupted and such but all you need to do is guess correctly. It teaches you to literally read your opponent better as a fighting game player; choose the better decision in the heat of the moment. Bottom line is shield is fine in my eyes. People think RPS is bad here? Play Soul Calibur 6 that has like 8 or more ways to win neutral back lol.

I mean, isn't that kind of the tradeoff and risk/reward game you're playing at that point? Your opponent is using 4 bars to go into blood heat, so when you're spending so much in terms of resources you should have some sort of payoff. So really, that tradeoff for the opponent spending so much meter is that you are more afraid to throw anything out at the risk of being last arc'd. This lets your opponent do a couple of things while blood heat is active: they can just sit back and try to recover any recoverable health, or they can try to go more aggressive since they know you're going to be more cautious, or they can just try to make a shield read. You have to adjust your play to this mechanic, so maybe throwing a shield happy opponent is a good idea, or just trying to avoid them and reset to neutral is your best option. It's a high cost resource that can only be accessed if you've lost a round, so (imo) it makes sense that you get some high return if you decide to use blood heat :)

Hope you change the shield mechanics increasing the risk of it, since now it kinda makes the game a rock paper scissors that's not fun to play with. (Mixups are fine, the problem is when the mixup is too easy to get, like shield does) I suggest increasing the moon gauge consumption of it, keeping the shield on should deplete it faster the longer you have it pressed. In exchange increase the shield regen based on how close you blocked the attack with it. (perfect frame activation should give the highest and reduced regen the later the attack hits after the shield activation) Also increase the recovery time for missed shield. (using it and nobody hitting it)

I will say this again. Please fix your game's servers. Would love to play without getting disconnected or it saying that connection can't be connected.
Man, all they have to do is tune the system a bit and this game would stay relevant. You should not have access to moon drive and shield simultaneously. Make shield use moon drive meter. And make shielding unavailable in moon drive. Make these things feel like real defensive decisions rather than catch-alls. Even unists problematic shield/vorpal system made you actually make real decisions when shielding or using vorpal burst(i can't remember the exact name but uk what i mean lol). I just don't feel like being mixed after scoring a knockdown is very fun. I should be rewarded for winning neutral and getting oki, but instead i get put into a 4 way mix all whilst the opponent gets rewarded for making an RPS defensive decision without much thought. I'm aware of all the OS options and yada yada, but you shouldn't have to run an OS every single time you score a knockdown, I'm sorry but that's boring lol make those systems feel rewarding for making a SMART defensive decision, and i genuinely think you have a great game.
This isn't how the game is played....XD. Where's are the spam moondrive, moonskill shielding? Literally nobody used moondrive in second round. Unrealistic scripted gameplay matches. I don't know why they make their game look like this when it can ACTUALLY be this
The good match everyone hopes for are what you play the game for, so it's probably good to know they exist at all. Most games have annoying playstyles as long as people exist.
MBAACC is my favorite fighting game of all time, but the system mechanics in MBTL are just bad. I wish they hadnt simplified the game so much, and added silly mechanics like shield followups, and moon skills having armor, and also being so easy to execute. The new patch notes make me sad. No system mechanic changes at all. RIP MBTL. Maybe devs will realize one day that simplifying a game to this degree does nothing but reduce the lifespan of the game, and make it far less entertaining for everyone rather fast.
Nothing wrong with shield follow ups it’s just how easy it is to abuse shield. Moon skills have armor than just grab them lol who cares if the inputs are easy for moon skill that’s also not the problem. Low shielding being too good and moon drive on wake up are the only issues that might need changing. The rest you can easily adapt to

You can throw someone out of any moonskill during moon drive. Moves with armor frames are lose to grabs

Man, all they have to do is tune the system a bit and this game would stay relevant. You should not have access to moon drive and shield simultaneously. Make shield use moon drive meter. And make shielding unavailable in moon drive. Make these things feel like real defensive decisions rather than catch-alls. Even unists problematic shield/vorpal system made you actually make real decisions when shielding or using vorpal burst(i can't remember the exact name but uk what i mean lol). I just don't feel like being mixed after scoring a knockdown is very fun. I should be rewarded for winning neutral and getting oki, but instead i get put into a 4 way mix all whilst the opponent gets rewarded for making an RPS defensive decision without much thought. I'm aware of all the OS options and yada yada, but you shouldn't have to run an OS every single time you score a knockdown, I'm sorry but that's boring lol make those systems feel rewarding for making a SMART defensive decision, and i genuinely think you have a great game.

Just grab them overhead them that's makes them predictable on wake up people just don't want to think in this game i see

This isn't how the game is played....XD. Where's are the spam moondrive, moonskill shielding? Literally nobody used moondrive in second round. Unrealistic scripted gameplay matches. I don't know why they make their game look like this when it can ACTUALLY be this
The good match everyone hopes for are what you play the game for, so it's probably good to know they exist at all. Most games have annoying playstyles as long as people exist.
MBAACC is my favorite fighting game of all time, but the system mechanics in MBTL are just bad. I wish they hadnt simplified the game so much, and added silly mechanics like shield followups, and moon skills having armor, and also being so easy to execute. The new patch notes make me sad. No system mechanic changes at all.
RIP MBTL. Maybe devs will realize one day that simplifying a game to this degree does nothing but reduce the lifespan of the game, and make it far less entertaining for everyone rather fast.
Nothing wrong with shield follow ups it’s just how easy it is to abuse shield. Moon skills have armor than just grab them lol who cares if the inputs are easy for moon skill that’s also not the problem. Low shielding being too good and moon drive on wake up are the only issues that might need changing. The rest you can easily adapt to
