Your taking his words out of context. The Quranic verse DOES say that, oh Prophet PBUH if you do not deliver this message than all your teachings have been wasted.. As the Muslims were already praying fasting, performing hajj this particular last message was so great and of utmost great importance that if it was not delivered than everything will be wasted including previous teachings of fasting, praying, Hajj.. What was that utmost important message?? It was the message of Wilaya thus Incident of Ghadeer which has been scribed in history and within numerous books including Sahi Bukhari.. Prophet Mohammed PBUH announced a leader after him. Prophet Mohammed PBUH raised Imam Ali As hand so high that the white clothe of the armpit side was showing and he announced that Imam ALI As will be Khalifa after him
