Thanks again. Enjoyed that. My grandfather James Augustine O'Sullivan born 1896 in Cambridge Mass, came back to Cork with his family when he was a baby. He was a telegram runner in the city before the 1st world war (he joined the Royal Irish Rifles in Dublin in 1914 before war was declared, he was 17 yo) wonder where he was based, assume the central Post Office, but not sure.
There is mural above farleys pharmacy roughly10 mins in, the mural shows a man with a violin, a woman and children, just wondering what this is about and who are the people in the mural ??
This mural is new in the city Not even one month since finished I believe. This mural is in memory of Tomás MacCurtain and the people behind are his family. The artists mentioned that they wanted to bring attention to the people that supported him through his life.
@@HumanityArchives_AmbienceWalks thanks for that, I didn't have a clue who it was. From memory Tomas was the Cork mayor who went on hunger strike over political prisoner status and sadly died, is this correct ? Also I've always wondered what part of Cork city was burnt out by the Brits during the troubles?
