@krystalpolansky3572 Exactly what I was thinking or maybe even old school Test Tube cleaning brushes, they have nice long, bendable wire "handles". Because it needs to wrap around the metal ice molds.
Good video. Couple of suggestions. First, I used my WaterPik with a vinegar solution to "sand blast" the inside. I was able to reach into areas that were otherwise hard to get at. Wear glasses when doing this because it splashes back. Also, at least on my machine, the top comes off easily with just two screws. Again, it makes it easier to get to areas you could not normally reach.
Yes press and hold POWER for 5 seconds and it will enter self clean mode. Takes about 20 minutes and yess you might need to rub on some tuff spots but it really washes out the internal parts good.
I have tried this on my machine multiple times. Never worked :( . But, even if it does that, still use vinegar! Pushing water through does not destroy the mold. Add vinegar and run that, scrub as I did in this video. Basically do the same thing I did in this video, but also run the cleaning cycle if your machine will go into it.
Vonhaus aka VonChef 220 volt Ice Maker 2000016, cleaned up very well my friend. I could never work out how to clean it well but your method is excellent.
If the machine is running round the clock, it will stay cold enough to prevent mold from starting. I've had an identical one for almost 2 years and it's used and refilled every day. I clean it every 3 or 4 months and have never seen any discoloration in it. The only reason I can surmise for that is that I use only filtered water. What we're seeing in this video looks like water sediments from less than pure water.
Thank You, Thank You! I knew there had to be away to clean it without expensive cleaners. I love vinegar for cleaning and dis-infecting. Yet, there are a few things you should never use vinegar on, but they are few. Now, I need to go clean my ice-maker...

I have a Frigidaire that is about 1.5 yrs old. It has started to stop after half a basket of ice. The red light comes on, saying I need to add water. It has water, I've cleaned the fins of dust, blew the hose & both locations where the hose connects. Cleaned with vinegar/water... I watched the water travel through hose into tray... so I know it isn't plugged. Might it be I need a new pump!?
I saw a video on here just tonight where they took the bottom and the side off of the machine and there is a sensor In there and they said to clean that if it stops making the full amount of ice. I don’t believe it was a Frigidaire brand but it’s worth a shot to try to find the video.
@@michellealms3238 Sounds like thats the ticket. It acts just the same as my washing machine that stopped filling up without any apparent reason. that switch/ sensor ( like yours) was keeping it from filling.
I know you needed this info a year ago, but here goes. Unfortunately, that particular light burned out, so I just have to keep an eye on the water level. The old "did you try turning it off and on?" actually was the key .

I found out after making this video, you can easily get back there better by simply removing 2 small screws. You will see the screws on either side under the lid. Lift the lid and look for the 2 screws. You should be able to then lift up the lid to get a better opening for cleaning.
After you empty the vinegar water you mention you run water through it 3 times. Do you run it through the ice maker part three times and drain or just fill up with water, drain … repeat
I used vinegar on my GE opal and something happened and it threw a bearing and the motor blew up and shot black oil into the water and ice. They make dedicated ice machine cleaner and descaler you mix with water. I think the vinegar reacted with the chrome or nickel metal in the machine
This happened because you hadn't cleaned it for a really long time. The vinegar broke down thick calcium deposits that eventually broke into fragments that got stuck under some moving mechanism. The mechanism probably got caught on the fragments and eventually tried to force itself past the fragment, causing something internal to rupture. Sort of like forcing a door shut on a water balloon.
