    Thank you so much for this easy-to-understand and step-by-step video! I'm a single lady who purchased the generator from a friend who said the oil needed to be changed. I was completely in the dark about this, but with this video, I could get the job done with no problems. Thank you again!

    Thanks for the presentation; very informative. Hey, your spoken english is much better than most english/anglo speaking people. Your instructions came across very clear and to the point; remember, sometimes less is more.
    Dont apologize for your spoken english; you speak at least two languages; many others can only speak one.

    Great video. Thanks for the help. I needed a refresher before I dove in again. The paper towel tricks were a great idea. And using two cups to measure made refilling a snap. There were so many good tips. I can see this wasn't your first oil change.

    Thanks for the video. Great instruction and your English is better than most here in the U.S. Isn't there a 'non-breather' gas cap we can buy, then use when changing oil?

    • @somethinguseful2935
      @somethinguseful2935  Рік тому

      Are you talking about cap to make it easier to tilt the generator with a full tank? Maybe. But it's very difficult to find spare parts for Ryobi. I change the oil when I've completely burned out the fuel.

    How many running hours before the next change?

    • @somethinguseful2935
      @somethinguseful2935  2 роки тому +1

      I change oil after 100-120 hours. Generator works with 200W battery charger during the night, periodically with 1500W microwave, 30-50% of working time - idling.

  • @Arochax1

    Another fan from 🇵🇷🇵🇷Why the plastic hose in the fuel cap??

    • @somethinguseful2935
      @somethinguseful2935  Рік тому

      I put it into 1 gal bottle of gas overnight. This generator does not have fuel pump. So that this bottle is 5-10in upper than ryobi gas tank. Generator sucks gas from bottle into tank then uses gas from tank. Easy solution how to use it much longer ))

    • @Arochax1
      @Arochax1 Рік тому

      @@somethinguseful2935 Thanks for reply my friend. Let me see if i understand. You connect this plastic hose to an additional reseivor of gas to increase the running time?

    never put oil in styrofoam cup,., if gas got mixed in oil due to sticking carb float, gas will eat the cup and make big mess..

    • @somethinguseful2935
      @somethinguseful2935  2 місяці тому

      Yes, you're right. But this is also an easy way to find out if there is a problem with mixing oil and gasoline in the generator :-)

  • @ToafaoneToa

    Great video!. I was wondering about the house in the fuel cap…do you have an extra larger tank that gravity feeds the smaller tank for more fuel consumption? . I’d like to know your set up so I could do the same

    What type of oil??????

    • @somethinguseful2935
      @somethinguseful2935  Місяць тому

      I use Mobil full synthetic 15W30. But now in the summer time I bought Castrol conventional 20w50 because generator works often in hot states (tx, la, fl etc)

  • @Antiliblife187
    @Antiliblife187 Рік тому +1

    Get a hand pump and siphon the old oil out makes less of a mess and you can do it with a full gas tank. Takes roughly 12oz of oil I use 5w40 rotella t6 I wouldn't recommend using the oil he uses because it is for vehicle engines and has detergents witch are not ideal for this type of engine.

    What a horrible design, Ryobi is rubbish. Just had a generator die after less than 50 hours

    • @0852657luis
      @0852657luis Рік тому +1

      Ikr, these carburetors are very picky about ethanol even though it was designed for it in mind. I just gave it a sonic bath and drill slightly bigger openings in the intake and outtake of the carburetor so it doesn't clog again.
      I can only run one tool at a time but i got it free so its worth whatever i can get out of it.

    • @somethinguseful2935
      @somethinguseful2935  Рік тому

      The manual says that you need gasoline with ethanol less than 10%. Therefore, almost any gasoline at all gas stations can be used. I always buy the most expensive gas, the generator now runs several nights a week at idle power or 1100-1500 watts (portable air conditioner is connected to it). Soon 2000 hours of work - nothing clogged, starts instantly.
      What do you mean by saying that the carburetor is very picky about ethanol? Does increasing ethanol lead to carburetor fouling? Is that why you modified it?

    • @0852657luis
      @0852657luis Рік тому +1

      @@somethinguseful2935 i only did it because the pivot head kept getting stuck and I was tired of opening it up to free it.
      This generator is really nice when you have no way of getting electricity and you don't need many devices plugged in.
      Maybe because you buy the expensive stuff is why you don't have problems but i can't afford to run it on premium.
