I wonder whether you can upgrade 9.5 out of 10 figure. Can you make it? Hat off! You have nailed it. In the before and after comparison, your super fixing can definitely improve Joker to become a 9.9 out of 10 figure. The 0. 1 is that Joker still needs to improve his ability to stand.
A reason why you struggle standing the figures is the way you keep the knees fully extended. McFarlane often molds the figures so that an unbent knee is way too angled and not “straight” like Marvel Legends or other companies.
I only wanted one of each character like one joker, one Batman etc, but they killed it with the TDK trilogy figured I had to at least get Batman, joker and bane. The Batman is straight up one of their best and with some added custom accessories they really pop out. I might try painting the joker to make it look more natural because yours came out fantastic
Had to laugh at your frustration with the articulation and balance. 😅 Literally my experience every time I take one out of package and try to make it stand.
Great job on improving this figure. One note, the inside of the long coat was orange in the movie, just a small detail, but worth noting if do another one 😊
idk if this has been answered but why don’t you take the figures apart before painting them? i understand why on marvel legends bc they make it insane to take apart but McFarlane is a godsend to me as a customizer
That’s a good question! 🤔 I think it’s because I prefer seeing the figures as a whole and adjust the colours accordingly. For Joker, I noticed that the coat and pants were starting to blend together so I shifted the tones on the pants slightly. (I’m also a bit scared of breaking the figures haha)
There was only "pink" pigments in the jacket in that one reference photo because of the orange street lamp lighting, in every other reference photo you showed you could see his jacket was clearly purple, this was especially apparent in the behind the scenes photos where all the lighting was neutral. also in the same behind the scenes photos you could see his pants and jacket were basically the exact same colour. You also were blaming the figure for not being able to stand properly even though you didn't adjust the legs at all, it was very clear his knees were slightly too straight which caused his feet to be too far forward which caused him to keep falling backwards. Instead of complaining about a "problem" you very easily could've resolved, you should've put ur time and effort into painting the collar of his undershirt, as it was very noticeably the wrong colour, because it was the same as his tie, when in reference photos you can easily see it is supposed to be a whitish colour. Also, you mention enjoying how the DC mcfarlane figures tend to hide the hip joints as it looks better, yet you complain about the legs having little articulation.

He looks so nice, I thought the upgrades to this one would be on the subtle side but he feels so much more realistic and alive. It’s great.

I feel like McFarlane figures look good but all they need other than that is pretty much just better articulation
Mcfarlane uses those soft rachets on the ankles and that is the think keeping them from standing properly. Its a pain
