I have it. I'm not able to wear it comfortable on my back though.. my neck and shoulders starts to hurt as if the weight at the bottom and in the action pack are pulling me backwards. Also, with the velcro it feels kinda loose. Quite amazed how yours seems to be so solid and stable. I do like the zippers, the space, the whole thing in itself but in the end Inneed to be able to walk with it. I have my Frontline in a sidepack, my 3x3 tarp in the other sidepack. It fits exactly which is great. My sleeping bag is in the big compartiment.
I have been looking at a lot of reviews for this pack, but your review has been the one that has sold it to me! Luckily I only live 20 miles from the DD hammocks headquarters and place of manufacture in Edinburgh Scotland. I reckon I'll pop by at the weekend and pick one up! Thanks for your excellent review!
Here I am again... when the Action Pack is fulltime and heavy and I add some extra's to my backpack I can't find a way to carry it in a comfortable way. Trying to see whether I'm the only one struggling with it..
So it has proper MOLLE all over it, but where the included external pouches connect it's just a few basic connection points. And the external pouches are only held by Velcro? This just will not do.
What a load of utter nonsense- the pouches stick like glue to the pack (they have a double strap threading through two webbing loops, the velcro itself being very strong, with a close fit) Honestly mate- do you actually own one of these or are you having a laugh???
I have two of them one a replacement because the first fell apart. The replacement is just as bad.Don't tend to make things up.I have the emails from DD, photos and Sumo Survival covered this in their podcast. I'm more tha happy to link you to any of these. The Bergen is garbage and I'm not the only one to say so apart from the DD fanboys.
@Shuck Dog- It's a shame you seem so hellbent on persuading people to not buy this product. I have had my DD Bergen for a few months, and I feel I have I have put it through it's paces (heavy backpacking, winter summit camps, general camping, day trips) and I love this bag. It's versatility, build quality and robustness are nothing short of remarkable considering how affordable it is. I have no complaints so far- it's one of my favourite pieces of kit. Seriously, don't listen to this man's negativity- lest you will miss out on an exceptional product.
P.S Thanks Black Raven Survival for posting a thorough review, I love watching videos about kit that I own or intend to own! Glad you like the bag as much as I do :)
Edit; I do in fact have one or two very minor complaints, the first being the strap and buckle for the ice-axe loop- it isn't long enough to twist and flip lock the axe upwards without the axe digging into the bag material at the base. This wouldn't be a problem if the small buckle which is designed to hold the bottom shaft of the axe against the mid-section of the bag, wasn't so loose- which itself wouldn't be a problem if the strap for threading through the buckle was a bit longer- it's tiny! Therefore it just isn't reliable for holding the axe confidently. My other suggestion is to have walking pole loops on the main body of the bergen itself, and it just on the action pack (@Black Raven Survival- those cylindrical bits of material at either outer end of the large centre pouch of the Action Pack which you were uncertain of are, I believe for walking poles. I also threaded two loops of elasticed cord through them with toggles for strapping down foam seating pads, my hatchet or anything else that will fit there) Phew, sorry for waffing on there! But yeah, only one very minor complaint and a greedy suggestion :p
Don't buy this! These reviews are not good. They are not only biased but the product not tested properly. I have had two of these one a replacement because the first fell apart after a few weeks. The second has come apart in the same places. The inside crumbles, the stitching falls apart including zippers! Sumo Survival covered this in their podcast as well. There are known issues which DD not only have admitted but they are looking at to fix. IT IS NOT DURABLE!
Cracking review, made my decision for me, just ordered one. Music did my head in though.
England? No way, Edinburgh, Scotland. DD are an awesome company, fabulous to deal with. Anyhoo, great revue!

This was a great review Thank you. Just wondering if you have any long term quality issues, stitching coming loose or anything else? Cheers

Marc Holness Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching!
Dont do it mate, take it from me who has had two of these, they fall apart! Will be a waste of your money. I've spoken to DD about the issues.
Just a wee correction: Edinburgh (where DD are based) is NOT in England!
Well ... you said NO in your independence vote so ....
lostinspace013 what that got to do with it? Muppet.
I Fart In Your General Direction !
Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries .. now go away or I shall taunt you a second time !
lostinspace013
🤣 FFS you need a brain first to taunt individuals! What a knob.
The only down fall is the waist strap it's way too thin and will dig in when fully loaded. Nice video! Thanks for sharing ;)
there a lot of gear just come out of the main pocket, i have ordered one. awaiting delivery

hey thanks for the review. The detachable pockets look a little flimsy. Don't they wobble when walking?
Nope! No wobble whatsoever.
They are flimsy, they catch on a branch and they get pulled off. I've got two. One as a replacement. They are rubbish.
Thank you for your honesty! All the DD fans only talk about how great it is. Im glad i ordered karrimor. I should be g etting it today.

Nice review, i am going to buy one and mod it a little bit, fun to see that you have the same tanto knife i do :)
i realise that was 9 years ago but that girl locks super punk rock? is she from an american band.
Great video and review :-) I am seriously considering getting this bergen and some extra pockets as well, great channel :-)
Hmmm pouches with velcro. Why on earth you'd not s3cure with a presstud as well. Or even go PLCE pouches. Which is why I bought a Karrimore 45
Great review but why is the camera shaking and moving so much? Using a tripod would be much better.
Great vid. What is the total weight of all 4 pieces? Thanks.
hd250driver It's right at 3.3lbs.

Shuck Dog We never experienced anything you described. Maybe we got lucky or maybe you bought yours when they had a bad batch.
Damnit Christine, you're beautiful! And yes, that pack is awesome too :)
