This is what we plan on doing with our layers the deep litter method. First year with the chickens here.
It makes for a very low maintenance setup in the winter. Good ventilation will help keep the moisture from their poop down.

We lived in Manitoba for a couple of years. Wasn’t our thing though, so moved to northern Ontario which is much more in line with our goals and livelihoods. Good luck with the move!

A couple of my Chanteclers have started laying!!! 10 hens for the winter (5 Chanteclers, 5 Ameraucanas), am just putting the finishing details on their winter coop and enclosed run (both in a large repurposed shed).

Try to make a space in the rabbitery for chickens but we keep getting more rabbits! haha! We'll find a solution soon I hope
