    This was given to a student to help them with going up and down scales.
    This drill, or exercise, goes up and down several scale shapes in the key of Am/C. Only the bottom four strings are used, and there's always a quarter note on the fourth beat.
    Doing bursts like this can allow more speed to be developed instead of constantly playing.
    To really get the most out of something like this, working up each individual piece as fast as you can before sticking everything together can really help.
    You won't be able to play everything as fast as you can with one or two bars, but trying to play the entire thing 10 or 20 bpm slower than your max speed for one or two bars is a fantastic way of pushing your endurance, and maintaining the speed you've built.
