Ive never seen star trek just know about its general plotline from friends and the internet but really appreciate this perspective. In avatar not only does jake sully become better than the na'vi at na'vi culture but the liberation of the na'vi is also done by 'converted/good' coloniser, as if the natives were incapable of liberating themselves. Jake sully is not a good representation of an ally he is just a feel good self insert for the white saviour complex. Looking forward to more media analysis type vids.
yes, same sorts of technology can produce different cultures. take ferengis as example, they had warp drive and all sort of advanced techs, but still they dont recognize women as the member of their species. It seems like ethics and tech both needed for progession.
