The other tradition is to make a wish but you can't say it out loud and then you hold your breath the whole way through the tunnel and your wish will come true. So instead of wishing on a star, wish upon a tunnel!
The “small horse” at the mountain farm museum, was actually a mule (the result of breeding a horse & donkey).. You don’t see them that often anymore. Mules were desirable livestock because they take on the favorable characteristics of both the horse & donkey. But an interesting fact is that a mule is sterile, so they cannot reproduce. And I believe the people lined up on the side of the road were looking at the elk. My family and I used to visit the Smokies a lot, and we would see the elk along the way 🤗. Love your vlogs! You and Sam are so fun to watch and learn from. Thank you! 😃
Hi Jackie and Sam. Epic Wow. You seen pigs, a horse, elk, but no John Deere Tractors. Love the Scenic Road Trip with the Lovely Side Trips. Keep having Fun and on to the next Adventure.
I've been going to Gatlinburg TN every since I was little. As an adult, we have started taking our kids on yearly trips there. As for the honking the horn in the mountain tunnels, it's tradition. Alot of people do it, including us. They've been doing it for years. Love your road trip videos! ❤
Too bad you couldn't go tubing!! Gosh I haven't gone thru that park of the parkway in a long time. It's an awesome drive though and great stops!! ~Dawn
Road trips are the best! This video brought back memories of road trips I used to do with my grandparents. We would stop and put our feet in the cold creek water too! 🥰
I think it's a tradition to honk in tunnels. 4-wheelers will do it if there is a 1-lane tunnel. This is the most amazing vlog! I am living vicariously through you as I don't plan on visiting any part of the country that has humidity in the near future. Please come to the national parks in Colorado! You both would love them. Rocky Mountain National Park will blow your mind.
That train has a polar express trip they do in winter for Christmas. It’s awesome! You can wear your snuggly pajamas and they serve hot chocolate and cookie as they tell the story and then Santa come on the train and gives everyone a special bell. ❤️ they do an Easter theme trip as well. Y’all should take one of the fall foliage trips though. It’s so beautiful!!
My maternal Grandfather grew up in the shadow of the Smokies. Whittier,N.C. Visited the National Park when I was 7 yrs old & more interested in reading comic books!! Judging by Ur video I really missed out. Thanx for sharing the old home territory!!
Enjoyed your video!! We couldn't help but notice how clean and free from litter all the hiways were! Sure puts our Ca. Hiways to shame, trash everywhere, and an occasional mattress or appliance. Keep up the good work!
I live in Pigeon Forge. It’s a thing for some reason to hold your breath through the tunnels, honk and make a wish when you get to the other side. 🤷🏼♀️
Fantastic road trip playlist - love it! Love the viewpoints from that overlook, even if the wind was wild. My parents and I did a road trip through the Smoky Mountains when I was in middle school, so this is bringing back great memories!
Smoky Mountains are a site to see. Tennessee people have a tradition to honk the car horn in tunnels. It started out as a warning for other cars when the tunnels were only able to fit one car at a time, but now we honk to ward off evil spirits and remember those who have died in them. Glad y'all got to experience it all. Hope y'all continue having good journey. Be Safe Take Care ♥ 🙏
Just recently, my daughter and her boyfriend went to Mont Tremblant near Montreal. After watching this video, I sent her the link. Your video reminded so much me of her videos. She also travelled with her boyfriend and has issues with heights. I have been sending my children many of your videos and a few of PMM's. These videos from TN and GA are fantastic. Keep them coming. Take care!!!
Love to see videos of the Smoky Mountains. It’s my Absolute favorite place in the world! I’m a little bummed Clingmans dome was cloudy the views on a clear day are insane! Hopefully you can make it back !! That’s the hardest half mile I’ve ever hiked!!
I started following you years ago for the Disney content you shared. I enjoy your honesty and positivity. You and Sam seem to be such lovely people and make great travel companions. I've also watched as your editing abilities have grown and your mix of music and video make each vlog even better. The road trip videos have become my favorite. I live in the NC mountains near Asheville and travel to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg a few times a year. Thank you for being so complementary and respectful to this beautiful part of our country.
Those were Elk you saw near Cherokee and people honk in tunnels here in the south. Sometimes they play the old tune “Shave and a Hair Cut” then you answer back “Two Bits” but all with your car horn.
What a fab, fun, interesting day on your road trip. The views were so beautiful and you made feel like I was right there with you, both. From your No. 1 fans down-under 🇦🇺
While in that area you should check out the Cherokee village. The Oconaluftee (Oh-kona-luf-tee) River and park are amazing! (Edit: that would be the park you passed at 4:38) As well as the village you can tour. Drama Inn is named for the play that is preformed at the top of the hill there.
Honking is just a mountain thing. My dad always did it on our trips and I have followed in this tradition, it is fun. Since we live about three hours from the mountains is has always been our vacation go to place. Last time I was at Clingmans Dome I was little and a skunk was in the parking lot. Everyone wanted to see it because it was so cute and all I remember is my parents scream "Vicki don't get close to it" again and again. There is so much to see and do in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge so glad you have made it back. When you leave you should go back through Cherokee and see the bears, Indians and Casino. I so loving these road trips. Thank you!!!
I love love love the rolling clouds that come in like that! They remind me of the fog that rolls in on the roads surrounding San Francisco and the Golden Gate. Absolutely beautiful. Thanks for taking us on your road trip! I look forward to the days ahead. ❤️
Wow! I’ve always heard that the Smokey Mountains are beautiful but seeing your video truly proves that fact! So beautiful and green! Really cool that you’re stopping along the way to check out interesting things like the train and little towns and stuff. I definitely agree, that lookout and the long ramp up to it was scary! Not a fan of heights either. Definitely a great start to your Road Trip Adventure! You’re also correct that the Journey is the best part, taking time to stop and see interesting sights and not just rushing to a destination. Another great video, Jackie! As always, safe travels to you both! Can’t wait to see where else you go. 😊
We fell in love with Gatlinburg and pigeon Forge in 2020. Dollywood and the dreammore Resort were beautiful and very Disney like. We love going there whenever we can
Rebecca S, hello I want to say that you make everything you do fun, I love watching you and Sam going to universal studios but also absolutely love when you go on road trips, keep them coming, thank you for all that you do take care.
Hi. Beautiful video..!! Congrats..!!When You return to Fl, don,t forget Helen (a Bavarian village in Georgia), it's worth a visiting. Greetings from Venezuela.
I am so naive … till today I thought smoky mountains got their name from actual smoke … those images of the mountains were unforgettable, how fun to actually edit this vid … can’t wait to go someday … thanks for sharing
Oconaluftee visitor center is one of my favorite places to stop when I head to Tennessee! Love your videos ❤ I remember seeing you vlog a year or two ago near epcot and decided to look you up and have been hooked since!
I remember going through this area many times a a kid and as an adult as my Wife's parents lived in Murphy, North Carolina surrounded by the national park.
Jackie, I wish ya'll could have had a clearer day at Clingmans Dome and coming across the mountain. The people beside the road after the visitors center were lookng at elk. The stone platform at Newfound Gap(the NC/TN line) was where President Roosevelt opened the park in September of 1940. Hope ya'll have a wonderful trip.
The honking in the tunnel is a tradition! Growing up every time we went in one we'd blow the horn from the time we went in to the time we came out.. You're supposed to honk in the tunnel 🤣🤣❤️ so honk away!
Hello Jackie! Thanks to you, we went to Clingman's Dome today. Beautiful ride and view. Thanks for letting us discover unknown paths from us French Canadian. LUV to Sam and you🤩
Need to ride the train, beautiful scenery, it never gets old, live in Fletcher, not far from Asheville & need to go to Unto The Hills drama., fyi going through the tunnel, it s just given that you honk your horn & your resort you staying @, it s used to be a outdoor venue for concerts. Miss having the outdoor concerts.
Such beautiful views, love how you caught the "smoke" come in and cover your view. We went over that mountain one year around 10pm at night in total darkness, it was so scary I was just thankful I was in the passenger seat and could close my eyes, lol. Have a great trip Jackie and Sam
When I'm not tour guiding in Alaska I live in Tennessee, very close to the Smoky Mountains. It's a great area to live in.. I'm glad that y'all enjoyed it.. 💙💙
It’s kind of tradition to honk your horn through the tunnels in the Smoky Mountains. My family usually lays down the horn through the entire tunnel 😆
We have to do that next time then!!
The other tradition is to make a wish but you can't say it out loud and then you hold your breath the whole way through the tunnel and your wish will come true. So instead of wishing on a star, wish upon a tunnel!
@@demouthindesouth and my mom used to tell me I had to hold my feet up as well for the wish to come true 😆 So many requirements for these wishes 😂
We do that too😃
@@jessicatipton2079 haha yes so many rules!!
The 80s songs... omg Awesome
One of the best parts of a road trip are the road tunes, am I right?

Ah thank you for that info, Angie! It was definitely an elk, the Smokies are so special I already can’t wait to go back.
If you ever go through Cherokee again, stop at Pauls diner. We stay in Sevierville when we go down and always drive over to Cherokee for Pauls.
Another 30 min video at my lunch time, What could be better.

That's so sweet, I love it!
This is so beautiful
Also air is thinner that high up, cooler because of it too

So true, I noticed how clean and well taken care of this whole area is. It’s really nice, feels like TN takes pride in the Smokys.
