Have fun.
Your video was very helpful on my recent trip to MX city.
Thanks
The airport in Mexico City is a very good place to exchange money.
This airport definitely has a ton of places to choose from to exchange your money. Do you travel through the Mexico City Airport quite often?
EXPLORE MEXICO with Mike Vondruska actually I do. I fly to Mexico City 2 to 3 times per year. I’m always in Terminal 1 because that’s where American Airlines is but I have been in Terminal 2 once. Most people say the airport is very bad and old but I quite like it.
@@idaviation I agree. I like it too. I am usually passing through this airport 3-5 times per year.
@@idaviation Old? I see it clean, nice and new.
@@lupitacajero7185 same. I've been there twice and overall it was a good airport. No feeling of it being old.
Wish I saw this ! Wonderful video sir :)
Good information to know,
I'm glad you found this video helpful. Thanks for your comment. Do you have plans in the near future to go exploring in Mexico? If so, what region of Mexico were you thinking about going to?
Thanks for sharing that information
I notice that those guys were racing in the background 0:53
Thanks for the tour and info of change rates. You live in Veracruz Veracruz (Heroica) where is the best place to exchange there? Thanks for the video
Can I exchange peso to dollars before I leave?
The best deal will be had at an ATM. I use a Charles Schwab debit card. You will get the official exchange rate for that day or very close which is much higher than the casa de cambios will give. They have no foreign transaction fees and reimburse the ATM fees. In other words, I can access my money at no cost. That said, I do like to keep some dollars on hand as a backup.
Hey, thanks for the heads-up on this tip with Charles Schwab. People who travel quite often or live full or part time in Mexico may want to check out this option.
Just curious ... if traveling in Mexico, where do you usually go? Or if you live their, in what region?
@@mexicotravelexperiences I've been north to south and east to west in Mexico but find most often it seems Mexico city. The Schwab card I have found is the best. You have to open a brokerage account to be able to open a checking account for the debit card but you don't actually have to put any money in the brokerage account. Just open it and leave it empty then deposit money into your checking as needed to withdrawal from an ATM. This is best for Mexico however some places such as Honduras the street changers sometimes give a better rate than the ATM but that comes with some precautions.
md561 Now you've got me interested. I am going to look into possibly opening a Charles Schwab account. Thanks for the advice!
@@mexicotravelexperiences Just like casa de cambios, the banks will have different rates also. All will give a better rate than the Casas but Santander is pretty consistently among the better rates for their atm.
Hi, once I find the best place money exchange at the airport, can I use my debit card or they only take cash/dollars 💵 . Thank you!
Very helpful video. Is there any room for a couple of extra pennies if you bring crisp USD $100s?
February 3rd 2019 the official exchange rate was USD $1 = MXN $19.08.
The highest I saw on the video was $18.15 (Terminal 1), which is 4.87% less... not bad.
You need to compare the rate you get at the ATM with your no-fee debit card. Which is better?
Hi did you get the answer to your question? Thanks for sharing.
What is the difference between the airport and banks downtown?
Hi Bill,
Somehow I missed seeing your question.
Unless you have an account at a Mexican bank, they may not exchange your money. Also, throughout the day, there are usually long lines of customers at the banks.
There are exchange houses (Casas de Cambios). Just ask at where you will be staying for the closest one.
Exchanging your money at the airport is easier, faster, and the rates are more or less not bad rates.
If you are staying at a hotel, you may be able to exchange small of amounts of cash at hotel desk. However, it will probably be a worse exchange rate than at the airport.
Hello! We are landing at Terminal 1, it seems to be the best place to exchange dollars into pesos, right?
Hi Alexandra, Not sure if you have already "landed" but you are right. Terminal 1 seems to have the best exchange rates as compared to Terminal 2 at the Mexico City Airport.
Buen Viaje!
Terminal 2 rates are terrible! Always buy at terminal 1, the difference is huge.
Yep. I agree. If possible, head over to Terminal 1.
Thanks sir
You're welcome.
Thank you for the tip to go to Terminal 1! This is a silly question, but when I go to exchange my USD to MX pesos, do I need to bring a wad of cash or do I use my ATM card?
Hi Christina,
At the Exchange places in the airport you would exchange your currency (cash) for Mexican pesos.
If you want to use your ATM card, then you can find an ATM machine at the airport to get pesos. There will most likely be a service fee to do that. Check with your bank to see what that might be.
The other option is to exchange you currency for Mexican pesos at your home bank before you leave. You would have to order the pesos in advance at your bank. Check to see if your bank charges you a fee for this service. Some do. Some don't.
Hope this helps.
Enjoy Mexico!
@@mexicotravelexperiences thank you so much!
GOOD INFORMATION TO KNOW,❤️🖤💚🤎 FAMILY DAPHNE COTTON ALWAYS 💜 AWESOME BELLO MEXICO GUADALAJARA JALISCO DRDR ✨
I know the terminal like old terminal and the new one for me when arrive to mexico along time ago that was for me a big stress because I arrive in the new one and people that they were wating for me they were in the old terminal the terminal its too big.
do you know The way
I guess the size of the airport is determined by the size of the city. And México City, as you know, is HUGE! Fortunately, there are many information places in the airport to help answer people's questions.
Very naive question: at these exchanges can I exchange Pesos for USD? Or just USD to Pesos?
Yes, you can exchange your MX pesos for dollars at these airport exchange places. The rate would be different. You will see their rates on their display boards so you can make the decision as to which place to use with a good rate.
@@mexicotravelexperiences Thanks for the quick response Mike! I'll be visiting Mexico City for the first time. Any tips for a first timer that come to mind you'd like to share?
