The live performance of this song is a spiritual experience, jin is the only idol who got a standing ovation and applause after his solo performance in japan which is considered the biggest honour and respect
Let me blow your mind 😏:
- Jin learned to play the piano solely because he didn't want to fake it on stage during this song. (He also plays the guitar.)
- He did in fact not write the melody for Epiphany as we know it. He worked really hard on producing his own version only for Bang PD to replace it a few days before deadline with a melody that he felt would fit better in the over-all album concept. *However* Jin's own version is on their new album and I'm dying to hear it! 😱 (Drops June 10th, with a free online concert "with a special guest" on their debut date June 13th.)
- Jin has hit a G5# live, full-on belting, without even going into breathy falsetto, in his famous triple high note in Crystal Snow.
- Epiphany has *litterally* saved the lives of so many people, mine included. I've seen grown men and women cry when they first heard it. It's message has pulled people out of some very dark thoughts and situations and/or inspired them to change their circumstances.
- Epiphany is also very important to the guys themselves and Suga even named it as his favorite BTS song once.

Jin is such a kind and thoughtful person. In January when the group was on a break he posted pictures on Instagram of himself at his uncle’s strawberry farm. Then he personally delivered boxes of fresh strawberries to some of the members, his brother and his famous chef friend. He is a big gamer and plays League of Legends with several idol friends from other Kpop groups. He has several actor friends too.

This song epitomises Jin’s view on life. It’s why he calls himself, Worldwide Handsome. I love the line, ‘Not so perfect, but so beautiful’. Jin is a real tryer. He puts his heart and soul into his performances. I can’t imagine how long he practised to learn that piano piece and singing while playing is not easy. He asked for an unusual piano and they came up trumps with that futuristic instrument. Thanks for your insightful reaction. BTW only Yoongi could play piano before joining BTS. His piano is very important to him. V learned saxophone but he’s really out of practice now. Jimin, JK, Yoongi and Jin play guitar for their own enjoyment. Jin has played guitar on stage. JK has played drums on stage.

This song is nuts live! hundreds of thousands of people screaming they should love themselves at the top of their lungs. It makes me tear up every time. This song means so much to me. It came out in a time when I REALLY needed a reminder that I'm worth loving. I can't explain it without getting all emotional.

Jin is such a beautiful soul. This song, the lyrics and his amazing voice brought me to tears. It speaks to one of the hardest lessons in life, to love ourselves for who we are. As women, we tend to remake ourselves over and over to please others, to be more, do more instead of just being enough. We hear all our lives that you’re not thin enough, smart enough, pretty enough and on and on. Thank you Jin for letting us know that we should love ourselves in this world.

Okay, I'm thrilled you picked this song of Jin's. This is the performance that turned Jin into my favorite solo singer, not only in BTS, but overall. His voice is emotional and powerful. There is a reason he is my wrecker and is coming to try n replace Hobi as my #1. Lol
For someone who was approached for his looks….even more incredible to me…..abyss is my personal favorite of Jin…a very personal song to him when he was feeling kind of like he didn’t deserve all the love and attention💜💜💜💜
Jin can play guitar and piano.... But guitar is his jam and he also played guitar in one of their earlier concerts.... His voice and this song is always gives me goosebumps 😭😭😭😭😭 He considered as "The Silver Vocalist" according to the Grammy panel.....
It's hard to compare a video of a live performance vs your own experience at a live performance, but I will say the concert I went to where Jin performed Epiphany it was already dark outside and magical. Imagine an entire stadium of ARMY loudly singing "I'm the only one I should love". It was very moving and I had tears streaming down my face. One of my favorite concert moments ever.
This is one of my favorites from Jin! Others for him that I would suggest are his other solo works, Awake, Moon, Yours, and also the song, even if I die its you (with V).
Jin is so amazing! He had a fantastic pitch. When you listen to songs like Dionysus and Airplane pt 2 for example, you can hear his amazing range.

This song, and Jin's voice, have such a powerfull emotional impact ! Sometimes I need to listen to it again, in order to remind me I should love myself (but it's an endless battle in life, isn't it ? ) One of my favorite Jin solo (with Awake, for the lyrics, and his OST Yours, because his voice is so suave, sad and moving)
Just little facts : The song was used for the comeback trailer for the last album of the Love Yourself trilogy : “Love Yourself: Answer“.
An epiphany is defined as a “moment of sudden or powerful realization”. The title is significant as it represents the defining, formative theme of the album-and the entirety of the Love Yourself series. Jin’s epiphany is that he is capable of unconditional self-love, a conclusion each album in the series has powerfully, slowly built up to.
All the songs of the 3 albums are connected, as usual with BTS. And the order of the songs in the album matter, because BTS are story teller. Namjoon said that 2 songs talk about the beginning (Trivia: Just dance and Euphoria ) , 2 about the developpment ( DNA and Her ) and 2 about the meaning turn (Fake Love and Tear) , but Epiphany "is the only and precious song for the conclusion part" .
Notice that the song was not written by RM, Suga or J Hope, the main songwriters of BTS, but by Hitman Bang himself (Bang PD, the CEO of Big Hit, the man who created BTS) and specially for Jin. Some spéculates it's because Jin being the eldest, he was the first member to have this epiphany on self love and acceptance -he said in Bon Voyage 3 that the turning point for him was a Fire performance, in 2016, and the reaction of Army at his silly flying kiss, when he realised that if people love him the way he is, he should also love and accept himself. The other members need more time to have their own epiphany.
Jin has a special place in my heart. I love his Moon, and his latest OST Yours to a k-drama Jirisan. He is so emotive, you feel everything. And after he released Yours, he went and released Super Tuna for fun, a super silly song about his love of fishing on his birthday last December, and of course Super Tuna is as much Jin as Yours, and it became viral. You should listen to it! Jin created a monster earworm 😂😂😂💜💜💜

indeed this is like a warm-up song for him since after Epiphany, JK, Jimin and V join him to perform The Truth Untold (TTU) which is another very beautiful song. Jin had some high notes again in this song. You may want to watch and react on TTU.
Jin can hit even higher notes with clear voice. Jin shows more in many of their Japanese songs since their Japanese songs are registered high in general.

I have another favorite but its a cover, it's called "Autumn Outside the Post Office". It has a beautiful harmonica instrumental. Jin's voice is so delicate and melancholic in this song.

Jin’s vocals and personality are also what really drew me into BTS. Honestly his vocals are so amazing considered when he stated singing. He has grown so much and worked so hard to improve his vocals. I couldn’t be more proud.
I loved are someone commented that this song represents how Jin lives is life. It is very true. Believe it or not but Jin is an introvert and gets embarrassed easily (no joke. When he in the center of attention his ears turn red). He also use to very shy but has grown to more confident.
I have never been to a live concert in a stadium but it is such a beautiful song and so powerful when you hear a whole stadium sing “I’m the one I should love”!

Jin learned to play piano particularly for this performance. He had been learning to play in his own time, but may have stopped since he doesn't talk about it much anymore. A lot of the members start & stop learning different instruments, but I think that's normal especially with their busy schedules.
"Awake" is a special song of Jin. You will love it!💜
My favorite live performance of this was his very last performance of it. Not only was the sound quality better but the emotions he put into it knowing this was the last time he would probably ever sing this on stage to ARMY again was slim to none so he sang it with everything he had
The song was actually written by Bang Si-Hyuk (BigHit & BTS founder) and 2 others, Adora & Slow Rabbit who have written many of the songs from the start .....
The rain coming down & then going back up is part of the original official MV which is part of the "Love Yourself" Answer. The mv is part of the BANGTAN Universe (BU) storyline...... and who can mss his "Jin Walk" that is iconic.... (see MV for Film Out).

Thank you so much for your appreciation of Jin's talent. I love all of Jin's solo songs but this one gets watched regularly - the live performance just has so much more ooomph because of those ending high notes (they are also in the lyric video but in the background). In an interview Jin said that he submitted several versions of Epiphany and the producer chose six from which they chose the one that became the final version after lots of work. His English version is included in the "Proof" album and was only available on the cd but fans promptly copied and shared it. It comes across gentler but is also so beautiful and another showcase for Jin's voice.
This song is my favorite of Jins songs. The message is so important but also it shows how well he can sing and the range he actually has vocally. Im glad you did both the lyric and the live because this song needs to be heard live . Looking forward to the intro on Jin.
Jin is my favorite vocalist and one of my bias. all of his songs are so incredible and his live vocals are perfection. my favorite song is probably Moon, it has such a sweet meaning and Jin is always trying to make the members and army smile. a regret i have in life is never getting to see him perform Epiphany live, but i still have hope to see him perform Moon live!! here's hoping for a tour announcement sometime soon, maybe june 13th :P

He didn't write the song. His boss, Mr. Bang, did....along with 2 others, Adora and Slow Rabbit. But he taught himself how to play piano. Not kidding. You can find videos where he is in the beginning stages of learning piano. Please check out the #4 song on Billboard. It's been there for months. It's Jin's OST, "Yours". It's his best vocal work to date. #5 is his song too. It's a short silly song dedicated to the fact he likes to fish. He wrote while fishing on a charter while out in L.A. for the BTS concerts. Army made it go viral especially because of the cute silly choreography that goes with it. Fans started have dance competitions...to Jin's embarrassment... recreating the choreography. The funniest video was actual Tuna fisherman on a Tuna boat dancing with real Tuna. Check out "Super Tuna". Jin really is a good fisherman. It's one of his favorite hobbies. Jin is my fav singer. He stole my heart when I heard him sing with the vocal line, "House of Cards". His few lines of "No way, No way" belted out with full emotion captured my heart and soul. With his acting skills and his amazing velvet voice...he could take over Broadway. But he is so humble. He has no idea how talented he is. You do know he had never sung or danced before BTS? If you react to "Yours" I will tell you the background story of his learning how to sing and dance.
