Thanks for the video. Nice deck, just bought one and plan on doing a ground up restoration. The problems I see with your machine look like adjustments.
pretty much just adjustments but I'll do what is needed, definitely replace any hidden belts. If you come across any weird problems a note here would be appreciated. Good luck.
@@MoggysHiFiAntics No problem, I'll probably post a restore on Tapeheads or Reel to Reel. I think the X-10R is a sleeper, you can still get them for a good price used and if you don't need DBX, which I don't then they're pretty much as good as the 1000R and 2000R's.
@@mosfet500 I paid A$1200 for my X-10R and yes the later ones are too expensive. I'd love the time display as in the 2000R but it's not the end of the world. I was lucky getting a X-2000M for A$700 (it needed a lot of repair but now plays back well, still to fix the record function) I don't follow tapeheads or R2R , perhaps I should. 🙂
@@MoggysHiFiAntics Thanks. I have mixed feelings about this. I got the X-10R relatively cheap and it has all the options I want, two way record, etc. Personally at 78 I don't think my ears are good enough to warrant spending big bucks especially when I can mod this machine up to LED readout and wireless remote control. If I'm not mistaken it runs just about the same heads as the later machines and probably sounds just as good. I'm new to all this, I was restoring an RT-909 Pioneer I bought in the mid 80's and found these things are lots of fun, that's what it's about for me. I get to fix it up and build it out. If I get bored with it I'll just sell it, for a few hundred bucks it's more than worth it. I just joined tapeheads, they're a little fanatical but if it makes them happy that's all that counts. You can get some good info there too.
