Oooo, great tip! I didn't even think of that, but I'm sure I would have been frustrated the first time it happened to me! I'll have to remember this in my little brain for future projects! Thank you! ---Becky
If you’re somewhat tech savvy & like to tinker then look into a Chinese laser. You can get a huge machine for less than s glowforge! I bought a laser for less than $400 and you’re not stuck with the limitations that glowforge have. Search for k40 laser. There are a lot of groups and info about Chinese lasers!
Hey Emily! They are definitely an investment, but one worth saving for. There are alternatives out there, but like Brandon said, you have to have a little more knowledge and patience to get it up and running vs. the plug and play that these "desktop" lasers offer. Thanks for stopping by! ---Becky
Thanks Shana! I love it even more than I thought I would. I consider it a very worthy investment and it's (so far) been very easy to use. Thanks for stopping by and let me know if you decide to take the plunge! ---Becky
The exhaust IS the hardest part 😂 I got an inline fan too and didn’t realize until I was setting it up that the inline fan hole was 4” and the ducting was 6” so I ended up also needing an adapter (from 4” to 6”) definitely wasn’t cutting within 30 minutes with my trip to Home Depot 😂
OMG! That’s fantastic but there is no way I would pay $6,000 for a “toy” such as this! However, my husband has a CarveWright that I bought for him a few years ago and he’s never used. I might have to move that to my craft room. Do you think he’d notice?
Lucky for me, the Basic model is much cheaper than the Pro. But if you already have another toy, I'm sure you can find a way to sneak it out under his nose LOL. Thanks for stopping by! ---Becky
The text not going into the glowforge program… the text is editable and needs to be edited in a design program and then text should be turned into outline in the design program so it becomes part of the design vs edited text 😊
I'd love a GlowForge to start a business with. I'm broke and on disability. Ya need money to make money. To be able to live above the poverty line would be great. I can do sublimation but, no money for substrates to sell.
I feel you Dianna! Just a few ideas, you can consider partnering with another crafter, you do the sublimation printing and they buy the substrates, or consider just selling prints. There are lots of options for a more passive income. Hope this helps and thanks for stopping by! ---Becky
Hey Leila, I have the Glowforge Basic model, and from what I understand it will do everything except it does not have the pass through slot. So I would recommend researching that feature to see if it is worth the additional price. Hope this helps! ---Becky
I want one but i am working on getting into sublimation I think my husband will kill me if i got into something else at this point. maybe the price will go down a little by then lol
He Trevor! This was Proof-grade material so it was masked on both sides. Masking is very helpful in preventing scorching and then I also sand sometimes if the masking isn't enough. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hey Krissy! The basic will accommodate 12" x 20" sheets, but it doesn't cut quite that large, I would say 11.5" x 19" would be more accurate on actually cutting area in one pass. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hey Lottie, the passthrough slot can accommodate materials up to 1/4" thick, and you can feed a larger material into the slot for cutting, scoring, engraving, etc. For example, if I had a piece of wood that was larger than my 12" x 20" Glowforge area, I could feed it in through the passthrough, as long as it's thinner than 1/4". Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hey Raven, when I ordered a few months ago, shipping took right at one month. I had hoped the backorder was exaggerated, so that made for a long month of waiting, but it was fairly accurate! Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hi there! My apologies, could you clarify your question? I just want to make sure I'm answering it correctly. If it's something that is holding up a project, we have a live chat option available through our homepage: www.designbundles.net - Dawn 🙂
If your machine is having problems, you can never get any customer support. No matter what you try. Email leaving messages or even on social media. They just do not respond no matter if you need support for your machine or an order. They just do not respond.
Save your money and buy a different brand. 800 dollars in shipping alone and 7 weeks to ship and ours doesn’t work. And the masking tape is supposed to go on the upside not down 🤦♂️

Excellent Unboxing, Setup and First Cut tutorial! VERY thorough! Much Appreciated! Thank You!
So fun seeing your excitement! On my dream list!
I always engrave first then cut to avoid any possible movement of the material. Great video. New sub today.
Oooo, great tip! I didn't even think of that, but I'm sure I would have been frustrated the first time it happened to me! I'll have to remember this in my little brain for future projects! Thank you! ---Becky
I had no idea this existed at this price, albeit a chunk of $$. This will go on my dream list!

@@DesignBundles I don't think I've been THAT good! 😄
This is so cool

Especially since he isn’t using it. But note: as soon as u use it he’s going to want to use it
Thank you for being so detailed!
Happy to help! 😊

How long did it take for it to fully engrave and cut that ornament
I'd love a GlowForge to start a business with. I'm broke and on disability. Ya need money to make money. To be able to live above the poverty line would be great. I can do sublimation but, no money for substrates to sell.

Maybe your library has one you can use for free. Mine does. Even offers free classes on using it.
My Hubble surprised me with one it arrived yesterday. I hope you make more videos using designs bundles with GF
You can count on that Teresa! I'm too addicted to stop now LOL. Congrats on having such an awesome hubby! ---Becky
Thank u for this
Happy to help! 😊
Great Video
Thank you
You're welcome!
I would love this but not something I can get into now it would have to pay for itself. I love the gnome
Hi Becky! Can you use your Silhouette Cameo with the Glowforge? Or do you use a different app for designs?
Is it food safe ? I know the pro is but I actually want this one
Really want one of these for my business currently own a cameo and cricut and i sell epoxy tumblers anyway this is extremely expensive
I have been wanting one for about a year now maybe someday lol
So you can print/engrave on food?
I would love one but out of my budget.
Do you have to have Wi-Fi to operate your forge
Which model do you have? I am wanting one, but also want to be sure I get one that does everything I want!
Hey Leila, I have the Glowforge Basic model, and from what I understand it will do everything except it does not have the pass through slot. So I would recommend researching that feature to see if it is worth the additional price. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hi: Do you need water chiller for GF basic like other co2 laser engraver?
Do u have any regrets that u should have got faster one?
So how about 1 year?
I would love one but no money, maybe in the future.
They're definitely cool machines but quite the investment! It's on my wish list too! :)
I want one but i am working on getting into sublimation I think my husband will kill me if i got into something else at this point. maybe the price will go down a little by then lol
Isn't the masking tape there to discourage burn marks on the front of the piece being cut? Was your material placed in the unit upside down?
He Trevor! This was Proof-grade material so it was masked on both sides. Masking is very helpful in preventing scorching and then I also sand sometimes if the masking isn't enough. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hey Becky,
What’s the largest cut (hXw) this machine is capable of doing?
Hey Krissy! The basic will accommodate 12" x 20" sheets, but it doesn't cut quite that large, I would say 11.5" x 19" would be more accurate on actually cutting area in one pass. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Can I ask, what does the pass through slot actually do! I don’t know which one to buy :(
Hey Lottie, the passthrough slot can accommodate materials up to 1/4" thick, and you can feed a larger material into the slot for cutting, scoring, engraving, etc. For example, if I had a piece of wood that was larger than my 12" x 20" Glowforge area, I could feed it in through the passthrough, as long as it's thinner than 1/4". Hope this helps! ---Becky
How big of material can you use in the basic?
Hey Taina, I purchase sheets that are 12" x 20". Hope this helps! ---Becky
How much does the slabe of wood run?
Hey Donna, I've been purchasing wood sheets from the Home Depot and I believe the box comes out to around $4 per sheet. Hope this helps! ---Becky
How long did shipping take?
Hey Raven, when I ordered a few months ago, shipping took right at one month. I had hoped the backorder was exaggerated, so that made for a long month of waiting, but it was fairly accurate! Hope this helps! ---Becky
