I'm always grateful for the content that I find on UA-cam. Great video and a method I will start using. One thing I've noticed about hitting balls is the size of the bucket. Many of us get the large (100 balls) bucket and we don't have hours to practice, maybe an hour to and hour and a half and we still have to chip and putt. So we rush ourselves and become range pros. Then we play a round and its a totally different story. Getting a small or medium bucket will benefit us far more, it will slow us down because there's less balls and putting this method into play will only benefit us too.

I watched Jack practice putting at Scioto CC in the mid 50s,I was a caddy there in those days. His father watched him like a hawk and as I recall those sessions went on for hours,I played some with him at Scarlet and several district amateurs if anything I would say he was a fairly fast and deliberate player.

Fast AND Deliberate? The two things are in opposition, correct? Did you mean fast and “intentional”, or “decisive?” Not trying to be a smart a**, but I’m genuinely curious about the way Jack approached a round.

My comment was in reference to how Jack approached a shot.I have no idea what was in his head ,he did not talk much as I recall during a round, but he had fantastic recall.

Brilliant stuff Mike! I might add, never hit at the same target two times in a row...still stretch and warm up then start your practice session. Thanks for doing this Malaska series Brendon.

Brill upload, did this at the range today. I wasn't perfect but hit a lot of good shots with the method of taking time between shots. I got much more out of my session today 👍

When I was young the head pro at pur course was Geoff Huggett who's brother played several Ryder Cups in the 50s for Europe. Geoff always said never practise alone. If you have someone to talk to your not thinking golf constantly and therefore simulating playing conditions.

EVERYONE before my comment, you missed these tips that will change your game.
    2 hours for 32 balls....
    1. Time Between Shots
    2. How to train to make adjustments mid round
    3. Biomechanics is not about one swing....its about adjusting the one you have to produce shots rather than try to duplicate perfectly.
    4. Jack practiced about as long as it takes to play 9.
    5. Learn patterns that you have....stop trying to reinvent your patterns.

Great vid! Coincidentally Mark Crossfield talked about the same subject in his daily vlog yesterday. Great concept for a practice seesion on the range: hit every shot in the sequence they normaly occur on your course starting with the first teeshot. Keep up the good work!

If you can groove a swing and repeat it every time. All thats left is 100 yards and in chipping pitching and putting. If you can get up and down 70% of the time you'll shoot even or under par

When I run the Malaska Move in reverse, it is the back swing. The driver of the MM is gravity, otherwise there will never by any consistency.

Being into putting is hard for me. I agree with Hogan in that, there should be a funnel in the middle of the green, to reward the great ballstrikers. I would love to see a game that focused on ball striking. Long narrow fairways!

      danielgermano3505:
      Bingo!
Hogan liked to practice automatic two putt rounds and despite talk about his poor putting, Byron said that he never saw Ben miss a three footer.
Hogan took John Schlee under his wing but never endorsed John’s book. John’s incredible putting when practicing together simply outshined pinpoint ball striking.
Runyon’s short game with 220 yard drives frustrated Snead who could drive 280+.
Really two games in one. At 70, 240 carry is my Sunday best and I can’t reach 5’s in two anymore but 50 in, I’m down in two and I can reach any putt the 300 guys can.
      What a game.
      Fairways and Greens!

Mike explained it in one of his videos before. Its because when you are working on something in your swing teeing it up helps with making sure the ball is perfect everytime. Its one less thing to worry about and helps you focus on making those changes quicker.

Mike in every video: I was on a pro trajectory until my college coach forced me to change my awesome swing. I’m pissed. I know Nicklaus. Don’t twist the club. Don’t rotate, move your hip. Trust me. Did I mention I talk to Nicklaus? Where were we? Malaska move...

Maybe one golfer in 10,000, perhaps 100,000, could understand and use this. Perhaps he intended it for pros. For amateurs, just stick with proper grip, stance, posture, ball position
