Thanks for watching!
I'm always grateful for the content that I find on UA-cam. Great video and a method I will start using. One thing I've noticed about hitting balls is the size of the bucket. Many of us get the large (100 balls) bucket and we don't have hours to practice, maybe an hour to and hour and a half and we still have to chip and putt. So we rush ourselves and become range pros. Then we play a round and its a totally different story. Getting a small or medium bucket will benefit us far more, it will slow us down because there's less balls and putting this method into play will only benefit us too.
I watched Jack practice putting at Scioto CC in the mid 50s,I was a caddy there in those days. His father watched him like a hawk and as I recall those sessions went on for hours,I played some with him at Scarlet and several district amateurs if anything I would say he was a fairly fast and deliberate player.
thanks for sharing this great story
Fast AND Deliberate? The two things are in opposition, correct? Did you mean fast and “intentional”, or “decisive?” Not trying to be a smart a**, but I’m genuinely curious about the way Jack approached a round.
My comment was in reference to how Jack approached a shot.I have no idea what was in his head ,he did not talk much as I recall during a round, but he had fantastic recall.
Brilliant stuff Mike! I might add, never hit at the same target two times in a row...still stretch and warm up then start your practice session. Thanks for doing this Malaska series Brendon.
Mike Malaska's stuff is top notch!
Brill upload, did this at the range today. I wasn't perfect but hit a lot of good shots with the method of taking time between shots. I got much more out of my session today 👍
When I was young the head pro at pur course was Geoff Huggett who's brother played several Ryder Cups in the 50s for Europe. Geoff always said never practise alone. If you have someone to talk to your not thinking golf constantly and therefore simulating playing conditions.
Yup, and never fly domestic, always charter your own aircraft and only stay at a 5-star hotel.
EVERYONE before my comment, you missed these tips that will change your game.
2 hours for 32 balls....
1. Time Between Shots
2. How to train to make adjustments mid round
3. Biomechanics is not about one swing....its about adjusting the one you have to produce shots rather than try to duplicate perfectly.
4. Jack practiced about as long as it takes to play 9.
5. Learn patterns that you have....stop trying to reinvent your patterns.
@e james who cares?
@e james Show up early clown.
How can you not like this?!?!? (to the two persons making thumbs down). This might be the best video on how to practice ever!
Great vid! Coincidentally Mark Crossfield talked about the same subject in his daily vlog yesterday. Great concept for a practice seesion on the range: hit every shot in the sequence they normaly occur on your course starting with the first teeshot. Keep up the good work!
I wish I knew all this man knows about golf. I could listen forever....
You’ll like this. Shot this with MM on Friday
MALASKA: Tiger Woods and Phil Blackmar, GIANTS of the MENTAL GAME of golf! Learn from them ua-cam.com/video/nhAL4Ehhr0A/v-deo.html
If you can groove a swing and repeat it every time. All thats left is 100 yards and in chipping pitching and putting. If you can get up and down 70% of the time you'll shoot even or under par
When I run the Malaska Move in reverse, it is the back swing. The driver of the MM is gravity, otherwise there will never by any consistency.
Check out the hurling grip at 9:49, looks like it is opposite to a conventional golf grip, it is similar to what another one of Mike’s videos with the long drive guy talks about.
Excellent, thanks for the valuable background.
Another great video Brendon
Country club...lmao so true Bran. Love Malaska's teachings. Thanks B!
Stuff about explaining the biomechanics vs actually swinging the club reminds me of Timothy Gallwey and the inner game. He'd be an interesting guy to have on the channel.
0cajor I emailed his people but he lost his voice mostly and doesn't really do media
Oh that's a shame. Always good listening to Mike Malaska though. Keep up the good work.
awesome video,,,,,i really just care now where i want to go, i doing it,,,less thinking more results
I needed this video. Was talking about these thoughts just today. Great info.
This guy is amazing ! I love him
Dang... That was some good knowledge.
Really solid stuff!
I’ve been a golf instructor for last 30 years!..... this is a “ truth “ that everyone should know!
Being into putting is hard for me. I agree with Hogan in that, there should be a funnel in the middle of the green, to reward the great ballstrikers. I would love to see a game that focused on ball striking. Long narrow fairways!
Get the app "train your game" it is putting drill, makes it fun. Let me know what you think
Dont call it golf then.
danielgermano3505:
Bingo!
Hogan liked to practice automatic two putt rounds and despite talk about his poor putting, Byron said that he never saw Ben miss a three footer.
Hogan took John Schlee under his wing but never endorsed John’s book. John’s incredible putting when practicing together simply outshined pinpoint ball striking.
Runyon’s short game with 220 yard drives frustrated Snead who could drive 280+.
Really two games in one. At 70, 240 carry is my Sunday best and I can’t reach 5’s in two anymore but 50 in, I’m down in two and I can reach any putt the 300 guys can.
What a game.
Fairways and Greens!
PenguinGolf
Pretty good reason why he won 18 majors 5:10
I’m a simple man. I see hurling, I click on the video. 😂
Me too!
Around here, player B is called "Bubba" - that practice shot you hit so well after flubbing the prior shot.
Bubba always hits good shots, but Bubba is always late. ;)
Love this!
Maurice Horton thanks M!
Bobby joned said the game is played in the space between your ears.
At the top level totally true
Great info and interesting observations on Jack's routine. Even though I've known how to practice smarter by "playing the course" one still belts out a bucket in 10 minutes...how smart is that?! 😳🔫
what is the brand of launch monitor on the ground there?
Scott Hacker Ernest sports I think
Thanks!
Gotta adjust and try new things and let go
Aww man... he was just about to explain why he tees it up during practice......
my guess: he doesn't want to move all his sticks around
Mike explained it in one of his videos before. Its because when you are working on something in your swing teeing it up helps with making sure the ball is perfect everytime. Its one less thing to worry about and helps you focus on making those changes quicker.
Right its the definition of insanity, if you keep doing the same thing over and over expecting the same results your not gunna get any better
(Actually, that's not the definition of insanity.)
Mike in every video: I was on a pro trajectory until my college coach forced me to change my awesome swing. I’m pissed. I know Nicklaus. Don’t twist the club. Don’t rotate, move your hip. Trust me. Did I mention I talk to Nicklaus? Where were we? Malaska move...
By the way, I like Mike. :)
He’s consistent, which is a good thing in a teacher
Went direct to the source - found a series of Nicklaus lessons; will never be 10% of him but he is a very easy person to watch and listen - and just sit back and admire
Brendan needs to learn how to be quiet. He’s ruining Mike’s flow.
Kid definitely needs to be more present in the moment. He's just over talking the message.
But another great nugget from Mike Malaska
Y'all are hyper-critical of this man. It's ridiculous. He let Mike talk plenty, but the point of content like this is for the "average Joe" to pick Malaska's brain.
Couldn’t agree more… It’s also disrespectful to keep walking off and doing something off screen and leaving Mike talking to himself
@@201074016738 this dude gives y’all hours of great content from some of the best golf instructors in the world. A couple of the Malaska videos have close to 1MM views. And you’re upset because he walked off screen for a few seconds (likely to check something with the cameras so that you get all this great content with good audio and good views).
Quit bitchin.
Another great vid B. Loving this series with MM - mechanics vs playing the game. Yeah we all want that perfect, repeatable swing but you also need a plan B to get you round a course when the wheels fall off.
Just a couple of right arm vids that may be of interest;

ua-cam.com/video/Lt6znXdcseg/v-deo.html
Making fun of Jack’s voice
Hogan said if you can sleep on it, and still do it the next day ... you got it..
But Mike, did I detect a big head of hair in that pic?
First. boom
Matthew Hunter you did it!
When I played a lot, I didn't hit balls.
Fine video, but why scare everyone? Pre-shot routine to include practice swings with correct intention. JN hit 32 balls w/in a hundred mindful rehearsals. Good grief.
I never shot a million.
Power accumulators...omg no!! lol
Can you please set up your cameras in the position you want them so you don't have to keep interfering with what this man has to say. You have the attention span of a five year old.
This guy talks more than he listens LET MIKE TALK LIKE WHY IS HE TEEING UP!
Mike is the Cliff Claven of golf instruction. A know it all that loves to hear himself talk. Why would a tour player listen to him? He was a total failure on tour. Now he just bloviates about the golf swing like he's some type of guru instead of a washed up driving range pro.
You sound like a nice person...
Coming from a asshole obviously!
Maybe one golfer in 10,000, perhaps 100,000, could understand and use this. Perhaps he intended it for pros. For amateurs, just stick with proper grip, stance, posture, ball position
