  • Tonight begins the 9th of Av - the day we commemorate the destruction of the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem and the final moments of the most glorious periods in Jewish history.
In the City of David, the place where Jerusalem began, the evidence of those periods and their tragic end are being revealed, bringing to light all that was lost and the incredible endeavors to reveal and rebuild our beloved and eternal capital.

The history of a nation, Isreal from the depth of antiquity until today, a line unbroken. The one true God has had His hand on Israel, to keep and protect her. What an awesome God we serve.

Wonderful video, thank you. Our challenge is to find a language that can reach deeper into the soul to apply spiritual truths to contemporary life. Sharing this historical information with us today, I think, helps us to find that language. Shalom.

Fantastic video! I remember the passage about the horses dedicated to the sun & their removal. Amazing to think that perhaps it is near that very ruin where they once stood. I believe you are all doing God's work, & I really mean that. There's not many people I can say that about. I can't wait to see updated artist impressions of the newest data. Keep up the great work.

Things like this are thrilling yet happen all over Israel. When I've walked in the Western Wall Tunnels I can't help but think that Melech Shlomo may have stepped on the same stones that I'm walking on. When I've been in the Emek HaElah I can't help but wonder if that stone over there is the one that killed Galyat.
    Such an amazing Homeland.

Thank you very much. It was so interesting to watch the longer version of the original without English captions, then the shorter version in English to know that the site was the 1st temple destruction archaeological site.
In one video you showed a book that details the site and the various archaeological finds. I'm never going to be able to visit due to chronic illness, but wanted to ask the title, and where I can find it to purchased online?
    Thanks again for the video.

Tisha b Av or 9th ofAb commemorate the fall of Jerusalem, the destruction First Temple in circa 500 BCE, 2nd Temple 70 CE it happened on same date and the expulsion of Sephardi Jew in 1492 in Spanish peninsula...date July 31st.

The focus on the destruction from a historical perspective has always been about conquest and suppression; but from a biblical perspective, it has to do with Jewish faithfulness in their relationship and recognition of their God. Because we can see much of the archaeological remnants it makes me wonder how many people view these two tragic events with both perspectives, the more painful one is surely that related to one's faith.

Exactly where is this site located? Near Ir Dovid? Is it open for tourists -- at least at a distance? I would like to visit on my next trip to Israel -- probably in 2022, the way things are right now.

Keep on digging carefully. The City of David has more to find that could change the understanding where the Temple actually stood.
