The text interspersing the Ave Maria never fails to astound me: Mary’s yes- “Behold, I am the handmaiden of the Lord. Let it be done unto me according to your will.” It’s such a beautiful moment of surrender to God’s goodness. And the music in this piece reflects that beauty, peace, and joy.

I've been fortunate to hear this sung live by Chanticleer several times. The first time, I just sat in the audiotirum with tears running down my face, it was so beautiful. It still can make me cry, in fact. It's just perfection.

The balance here is exquisite. I’ve heard and performed this song countless times and this is possibly the best rendition I’ve ever heard. Gorgeous. 🥰

The best performance of this song I have ever heard even by Chanticleer themselves. I don't know where the difference lies, probably the balance of the voices, and a good amount of bass, which is not at all overbearing. Simply the best!

Give your compliments to the sound mixing and mastering technician and the recording engineers then! This is an album version which means a lot of the balance is in the editing

Got this album as a gift from a Business School friend with whom we would attend Sunday service sometime. Christmas is not the same without listening to Chanticleer!

It was such an honor to sing the Bass II part of this at St. Luke the Physician Episcopal Church in Monrovia during a Men's Evensong. Now I get to go hear Chanticleer sing in in Walt Disney Concert Hall in L.A. on December 19, 2018. I only hope I can keep from singing along.

This is the Angelus in song -A Catholic prayer said at 6am,12 noon and 6pm "The Angel of the Lord Declared unto Mary and she conceived of the Holy Ghost" followed by the Hail Mary then "Mary said""Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it done unto me according to Thy will" ..Hail Mary..then "and the Word(Jesus Christ)was made flesh and dwelt amongst us" followed by a final Hail Mary. Astoundingly beautiful made perfect because of its subject matter! Ave Maria!

So beautiful - the performance always brings tears to my eyes - The balance, the independent lines weaving in and out and the key of D flat! To die for!

Too beautiful for words. When I get stressed and anxious, listening to Renaissance polyphony soothes the soul. Could there ever be a more beautiful rendition of this piece? These guys are fantastic...a true gift to the world.

Yes, it brings us back to that place within us where we breathe easily again and renew our connection to aspects of our humanity that are just below the angels. I saw your "Renaissance polyphony" and that triggered my comment.
