In the beginning, I too thought mark making as no big deal .... until I tried to do it. It's hard. Thank you for this video!

Yes! Thank you. I actually find I can express how I feel in an abstract composition much more easily than in a realistic or even impressionistic composition.

For me the abstract painting or any media is my creating with abandon. No judgment. Subconsciously creating , lol , from within me that is completely unplanned and unstructured.
Lots of colors and shapes ..... here we go !!! #boop !!!

I've been using swatches and explorations in color for my backgrounds. I collage for my junk journals and my favorite quotes. 😍 look at how many ways you can create in abstract mode.

I going to look on my desk to see what shapes I doodle when bored or anxious. Im always with a pen in hand. If you get all anxious at the thought of making a stroke, maybe you can do the same.

I have gone from traditional to abstract because that is just where I am at for however long I am here. I actually find it more difficult. It is getting me over being frozen and too critical. The magic happens just as I am about to give up on it. It all seems to come together just about then. I gave myself permission to just play without judgement. It works for me.

What I'd say to people complaining that they could do something, like abstract art: "You're absolutely right! Would you like to?" Because for something to be art, it doesn't have to be difficult. It's fine to just do art because it's fun, or relaxing, or exciting. Everybody can do it. Not everybody can do it in a certain way, and that's fine. If we all do it in our own way, we get many more interesting pieces of art.

@@KristyRice 😊 Thank you. And thank you for your lovely and inspiring videos! I really appreciate their primary focus on fun and enjoyment. It's exactly what all of us need so badly these days. It's like so many people have forgotten that life is supposed to be enjoyed, not endured. Videos like yours will hopefully remedy that. ☘️

I have always felt that abstract art is expressive and meaningful for the artist. Personally, I tend to paint realistically. I’m also not comfortable with composition. I tend to draw and paint what I see or look at. I like your approach and I’m going to try it. I certainly have a lot of old, ugly artwork piled up in my spaces😂 I want to find out how you approach composition!!! Thank you❤️

Fun while joyful is what we all strive for. Somthimes people who don’t create say it’s easy, or we’ll I took an art class in college a few years ago. My first question is always, did you keep doing the art after that class?
I do love Picasso. But he was often misunderstood.
Being part of the Dada Movement, he really rejected the logic, and reason, of art and war and painted what he felt was his best art with his cubism and abstract art. Picasso was at a Paris market when an admirer approached and asked if he could do a quick sketch on a paper napkin for her.
Picasso politely agreed, promptly created a drawing, and handed back the napkin - but not before asking for a million Francs.
The lady was shocked: “How can you ask for so much? It took you five minutes to draw this!”
“No”, Picasso replied, “It took me 40 years to draw this in five minutes.”
There really should be an artist appreciation day

Ugh... people saying "OMG, even *I* could have done *that* !" are the worst, along with the people who say , "If someone traced the outline, they didn't even do the work."

I’ve always had a strong desire to create but no skill or talent so I decided to do abstract art and you have no idea how many times I’ve been told my art isn’t real Art. Number one just because they dont like it why do they feel the need to tell me they don’t like it? Just keep it moving you know? Number two I never claimed to be an artist, I made this for me not you! I just dont understand why people think their opinion is the only opinion in the world you know? Let us be in peace lol
