“Followed” James, I have been using golf as a “get away” from the extreme stress of work for many years. As a 20 + year career first responder and flight paramedic golf has always been my oasis. Since the start of C-19 and the sheer volume of incredibly sick patients needing help, I have had no time to even consider making it to the golf course. If I am not physically working, I am on the computer or phone planning/preparing how to keep my team safe. Thank you for posting your videos every day and providing me with 10-15 minutes of joy! I truly mean that from the bottom of my heart.
"Followed" I have no idea how you have done this, but literally yesterday I have been searching for the garmin approach g80 reviews and all I was dreaming that night was to somehow beg my parents to get it.
Found your channel a few months back and subscribed. I have a more robust version of your washing line using 2 old sleeping bags zipped together. Doesn't need the pegs to take the weight. Just started using Zepp2 for 3D swing analysis - it is *really* good. Loads of data and graphical analysis - including video. But it only measures club head speed - not ball speed. Fantastic aid - love it. Fingers crossed - I could be one of several thousands of commentators that gets randomly selected. Better chance than the lottery. . .
Played 2 rounds after using these TPpix and they literally are scuffed on the skin off one wedge. Mid you I still use the Y cut on the tp wedges, but my goodness. Love thm around the green.
Love to have one of these for my yard and to teach my little boy and girl golf with it.. hard to bring them to a course, don’t want to waste other people’s time with them waiting for us.. love your channel..
Followed.....actually been following for a while as you always put up interesting content, whether on course, in office and recently your garden!! Congrats on passing 100k subscribers recently....
So sorry that I didn't know about your channel in April 2020. So cool that you gave one away. I love people who share the wealth. Love what you are doing with your channel. I have been looking for a monitor that will help with my practice sessions. I just have a hitting net and hitting mat in my garage. Getting ready to install a TV mounted on the wall by the hitting net. Can you project this information to a TV. Thanks again James for all the information.
Love your videos and the Garmin. I have set up a hole in my back garden (only about 10 yards!!) but with zero technology apart from the fact that I have started doing videos for my golf club. I am taking contributions from the members to make a whole video. Some have built amazing setups in their own gardens. Happy days from The Burley Golf Club.
Hi, do you still use the G80 or still have it, if so what is it like for swing training? Was looking to get one to use at home but only have a small garden so can’t use a R10 or something along those lines (also only have a low budget) so thought of the G80 is the swing tempo without a ball any good? Also on the virtual round does it pick up a slice or hook or does the ball only got straight? Any help will be appreciated as I know it’s an old video.
Followed Made a driving range in my garage using some old OR sheets but I don't trust it yet to use anything other than soft golf balls. So I laughed watching you use a comforter. Well done. Stay safe.
you inspired me to start teaching my neighborhood to play golf lol i’ve taught 11 people so far in the last 2 months and they’ve all loved it so much they keep asking for more and telling their neighbors and friends. So thanks !
Followed. Entertaining video James - I’ve been thinking about a launch monitor to get me through the lockdown and beyond! I also like the fact you can virtually play real courses. Maybe I could play my old home course of Selby, North Yorkshire.
Followed I also built a golf course in my garden it’s only 12 years long but I have a driving range net and then a chip and a putting hole, loved your idea so thought I would try it myself 👍👍👍
Do you know if using limited flight range balls over normal balls would make a difference in the readings with the G80? If not would it be possible for a video on it thanks👍🏼
Followed - Unfortunately I don't have a garden here as I am staying in an apartment. Just I am going to set up a same simulator in one of my bedroom. Your idea was excellent James.
"Followed", snowed here again today in isolation.....cant wait to get out....was looking at getting that exact model, would be awesome! Thanks again for all the content!
I already have a mat and net so I can practice strike quality, but I have no distance or other launch data (only contact quality and visual.feedback). This would be great. I saw a Rapsodo R-2 for sale, but there was no software available so that didn't happen. A cheap net frame can be made from PVC pipes and cheap netting - or any heavy fabric like you used..Fake grass can be put on the ground rather than buying a way more expensive driving range mat.
Very good, But You need some scaffold bars 2-3 14ft ones, 2 elbow key clamp 90 bends to make the net frame, should be tidy to hold a catch net. less than £200.. Plyboard for that window with a velcro as back up plan for that window. 6mm ply cutting should be fine.
"Followed" just got a screen and mat so would love an actual monitor. Thank you for doing what you do and keeping us entertained while we #stayhome and #stayinside to #staysafe. Thanks James!
Not gonna lie... I skipped a few build minutes. Quick question and forgive me if this was answered in the vid. How do the numbers stack up against other monitors, mevo, mevo+, trackman etc?
Followed This brought back some childhood memories, as I used to do this as a kid with my mums bed covers hung over the garden hedge, with the neighbour’s nervously watching out the kitchen window lol Cheer’s James...
Great stuff James loved it!! built the same at home with safety netting from a trampoline and 2 by 3 timbers no launch monitor yet.Working on a covid unit come home after 12 hr shift and hit 30 balls with driver love it keep up the good work Richie.
Have two questions: 1. Does thequality of the ball change the readings? and 2. even if range balls are crap, is it not still informative to have a launch monitor that reads it as if you had a better ball? The 2nd question relates to using a launch monitor on the range. If the quality and characteristcis of a range ball compared to a decent ball has no impact on launch monitors, then in theory, the launch monitor gives the real world experience and ignores the crappy flight of a range ball. (I'm presuming that most monitors are really only looking at the first 16 feet of the ball flight in order to get a read). Therefore, is a bad ball or good ball different within 16 feet? If not, then one could just somewhat ignore the range
"Followed" Just getting back into golf and been using a local top tracer equipped driving range to range my clubs, however I could do with something more accurate 😊 Top tracer gives me an extra 15 yards on each club.
Here in Michigan, USA, we are still facing stay at home orders and the golf courses are not considerate essentials, so back yard golf is the only way to go.
"Followed" I've been working on trying to get more shaft lean at impact so I'm going to need this garmin to see the difference in my yardages on my irons
“Followed” hi James hope your doing well ! This would be a great addition to my bag as I’m going on to college golf this September and have a few junior opens if there not cancelled 🤞and believe that this would be great for numbers before a round. Hope to be back on the course soon ! 🤘
“Followed” just found your videos. Great job!! I am fairly new into golf and have a bet and a little turf in my backyard. A launch monitor will make it complete.
4 weeks into the lockdown and its killing me...…..really missing playing golf. Would love one of these to dial in my game. Can't wait to get back playing!!!

Thanks James.
What an amazing piece of kit. Thanks for making your reviews fun and easy to follow!
awesome video! I was in the market for a launch monitor that's minimalist and looks like you have the one I've been looking for.
Great idea how close does it have to be
to be
will it tell you if you slice or hook the ball?
Followed - something the regimental golf team would ideally need during this time to keep up with practice great seeing you videos

Great content, only discovered you since this isolation lockdown hit but binging through it all now!!
I noticed the distances show carry + roll, was this intentional or is your 7 iron 165 total distance?
My some has just started to play golf and needs to understand yardage and see how the technology works.
Followed. I’m currently hitting a golf ball on a string in the garden, could do with an upgrade. Great vid
