Very cool. I have a '78 F250 which is an F26 that originally came with a Dana 44 front. Original owner got Ford to upgrade to a Dana 60 due to warranty claims but my truck is not a Sno-Fighter. Check the top rail of the passenger side of the frame around starter area. You might find the VIN stamped in it like on all the trucks I have ever had.

Ya talked me into it subing with you. 74 now so drove and owned these rigs, as they were the predominate rigs in our valley where I was raised up at. If you like a certain rig as in .... be it a Ford, A chevy or a Chrysler product.... find our what dealerships sold the most rigs in a area. Ours was Ford or International trucks for the most part and of course some of the really big over the road, Pete's K.W.'s or other now no longer made like the Reo or FWD, and some others that haven't hit my memory cells yet. As for real reliability, the LS engines are making some real headway today. I was a big block guy and so the FE engines were my first choice and usually best power in torque. I like to just push my way kind of like my three hundred pound body does yet today. Size sixteen shoes make it hard to drive a standard as my feet hit both pedals all the time. Now days with a Mig or Tig, and the plasma cutters make fixing these up so very very easy. I am guilty of using the ford truck cabs on stuff as well using them on newer or wrecked rigs cause of that FORD TUFF bodies that held up better in our valley in washington state. Also the place I now live and have for the last forty years Wasilla Alaska.
My friends uncle had a 79 f150 with the same paint job. One day some dude came up to the house and asked him if he would sell it and he said no so when they were sleeping the dude came back and torched it it. Was hold off and late 2023 because the city wouldn’t let him keep it in his yard because the fire department got to it before it burned completely down but the whole cab was pretty much gone so I’m gonna show this video cause it’ll probably mean a lot to him
..... i understand that your very proud of your truck and thats how we all feel about are classic cars and trucks.. But you mentioned the vin several times and made a piont that it is a very rare truck... But if you changed over 75% of the sheet metal then it is no longer the original truck then the vin means nothing ... when you are done you will have a very nice truck that was built from many other trucks. And nothing about that is rare. enjoy the build

I bought a f250 single cab ranger ,blue metallic 4x4 , 4 speed Dana 60 front and rear off the lot in 79 $13,500 no options my boss bought the same truck as this one but single cab, his was $18,500 remember it like yesterday . I regretted selling that truck from day one.

If ya gonna change some stuff around, Ya ought to delete the 400 anchor and put a 460, hopefully you havent given L&L header money yet so you can get 460 ones . Going that far for a personal keeper you will get buried in, go with vintage air and hell might as well spring for serpentine belt too and I saw its has teh Trump friendly drill bably drill 4:11 gears so gear vender will round itall ou. I have some sentsides never left Az. I`m 74 and aint gotmuch longer left and need to find agood home formy collectiion. Quick list 72 hi boy 78 super 250 4x4 70 camper special 79 swb super lariot 460 tilt cruize and on and on, 76 150 super new 390 76 camper spl 460 8 foot Alasakan cab over, 6 long beds turned into trailers, and enough parts to fill up 4 40 foot cargo containers. Also have all teh running gear froma quadravan I kept to put under teh Lariot(would that be cool? 8 lug 4x4 short X cab. YEA! Like I said , I dont have long left, and nobody has any money or ambitionhere in payson Arizona, Give me a call 480 215 1115 I`m in the forest so cell receptions suckjs, keep trying I go by doctorick, all or part.you need all this stuff, and I need to leave my daughter somecash, she wont take the trucks

Unfortunately there was not, and the reason for that is Ford would have had to make Lariat rear door inserts, headliner, and color keyed rear seatbelts. In addition, crew cabs were not available with cruise control. So Lariat, Cruise, and Dana 60 all not available on 78-79 Crew Cabs. Hi Tim, the chassis changed in 77.5 to what is referred to as the "Lowboy". They have updated steering components, frame width, and are regarded as the superior setup. Many people convert highboy chassis' to lowboy steering.
@@DentsideDepot Im In Australia and we dont have any of the after 77.5 dent side f250 or 350 4wds. unless privately imported and then they are Left hand drive, I have a late 76 Australian highboy which is a Canadian truck, steel dash and only came with front disc brakes here form 76.5 to 77.5 came with a 300 six(Dog) which i an in the process of converting to a Barra 6T local motor (300KW) I have had to modify the steering RHS to Power steer using a Toyota PSbox these Hiboys are rare as here. Love your truck and channel..

Dentside refers to the crease pressed into the bodyside all along the length of the front fenders, doors, cab and bed/tub. Its nothing to do with the rear body, which in this case is a fleetside bed.
Hey Gents, that is correct, 73-79 is considered "dentside", while the model before is "bumpside" and 1980 is often called bullnose or OBS etc. But yes, this is a fleetside truck and I do not do stepside trucks ever, they just dont have a good look if you ask me? Thanks for checking out the channel!

You should do two tone medium blue metallic, and Solar gold metallic 2 tone, Freewheelin' package, and a chrome Luverne grill guard.

Were you able to save the door Vin plate in some way? Not sure how that’s done when drivers door is swapped.
I have a new one from Kevin Marti along with the cab sticker. The frame is correctly stamped.

Yes, it is a dentside, and no, it is not a fleetside. It is a styleside, which is the Ford version of the fleetside term used by Chevy
