I just got me an x type and have a few jobs to do on it... your videos have been invaluable for giving me confidence to do the jobs many thanks and keep them coming!!
joys of motoring these vids will come in handy as I just got an 06 x type diesel, had the lower radiator support bar rotten to the point it snapped in half, and even a main jaguar dealership could not get hold of one for me, plenty of them on eBay but all for the petrol models, the diesel bar bends round on the end a little differently, as i found out when i bought one, that one will go back on ebay ha ha. Just starting getting a squeak from the rear suspension.
johnnysevengun how long did it take you to replace handbrake cable, my MOT states too "Parking brake Lever has excessive movement indicating incorrect adjustment" (1.1.6 c)
It took about 2 hours per side. But remember you can adjust the cable with the turnbuckle and also check that the levers on the rear calipers are not sticking. ua-cam.com/video/Y9G1_gS3ue4/v-deo.html
@@johnnysevengunThank you, I will check the caliper levers tomorrow morning regards sticking per your video posted. i am a bit afraid of getting under the car with jack stands on the rear to tweak the turnbuckle as shown on your video. Once again Thanks for your videos they really help.
Thank you for posting these videos they are really help full , have you done a video of replacing the front handbrake?? As I’d like to change that now I have replaced the 2 rears Many thanks Joe
Sorry I have wrote it wrong , I mean the cable that connects to the handbrake then feeds down to the part where the 2 rear cables connect to , I changed the 2 that go to both rear callipers but I also bought the cable that connects to the handbrake leaver
@@joepymm8329 I didn't get what you meant at first. I haven't changed this cable. Looking at the Jag Service Manual you might get away with just pulling up the handbrake gaiter to release the cable end. Otherwise you might have to lift the centre console. denez.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/X-Type-Workshop-Manual-2001-2009-A.pdf
Hey mate! I have seen your videos and they are very hapeful for Jaguar X-Type. I have X-Type 2003 2.5 SE manual, too much work I have to do on it. My question is about the handbrake cable, are they the same for model from 2001 to 2003? and if you ever changed brake fluid on your Jag? if Yes how to do that? Thanks
As far as I can see the replacement cables fit any X Type. I bought mine from EuroCarParts where you can put your number plate in and they match the part. I haven't changed the brake fluid on my car but I have bled the brakes. You can do it with a friend to push the brake pedal down just using a spanner, a tube and bottle. For a better job and doing all four at once buy a pressurizing kit. The one I had worked of the air in the tires.
Igor- speaking for myself. I just extracted the old fluid out and replaced with new- time with brake bleeding and the extra help that goes along with that could cause problems.👍🏻
Thank you for the answer, I would like to change and bleed a brake fluid, but I have no one to help me. Can I do this by myself? What are the tips and from which wheel I'll should be start? Cheers!
You can do it on you own but you have to be a bit athletic. Jack up the front of the car and take off both wheels. Connect a clear plastic tube to the drivers side brake put the other end in a clear bottle with some clean brake fluid in it so the air can't get in. Open the bleed nipple gentlyr with a ring spanner. Hanging out of the door and looking under the car push the brake pedal down so bubbles come out of the pipe. Keep pressing until the old fluid starts coming out. Put more clean fluid in the reservoir under the bonnet and keep pressing until clean fluid comes out of the tube. Don't let air into the reservoir. Do up the nipple. Repeat for all the other wheels. Much easier if you can get someone else to push the pedal down.
Thanks again!!! I will rent a car ramp (Pit-start sefl service garage), will be more easy and better condition, because I dont have Jack and then I have moreeeee things to do on this car..135000 mileage

Sounds like a rear sway bar bushing.. they tend to go bad since they’re rubber and dry rot due to excessive heat.
(thank, you for you're helpful video and all of the explaning of this video.)👍
Great video, very helpful and informative. Cheers
this video saved me a few quid and got my car through the NCT (your mot) Cheers

@@edy-str You only need to jack it up on one side at the front to reach the turnbuckle.

Xj8 1999 Jaguar, rear handbrake cable removal, how?
I don't have this car. The repair manual can be found here - docs.google.com/document/d/1GZ2_Q06aUV7DYscLexemL-hfJSFU1UwnFmnDwIos2WQ/edit

Good idea.
Start at the osr then nsr then osf then nsf.
Start with the ferthest away from the resevoir.
In our jag dealership We had a long jag socket.
Worse jag ever the x-typte. So many recurring faults, from front to back.
Such is life my friend.. anything now a days will give you trouble-
Just have to be patient with the process. Some call it a labor of love. 👍🏻
