- Prepare to be WOWED by Joe Wilson’s spectacular 1958 home beautifully furnished with vintage furniture, art, appliances, electronics, TVs, décor and more galore … in Glenbrook Springs, an relatively undiscovered underrated
oasis of custom built mid-century homes in Houston, Texas!
Thank goodness there are people like this guy, who are keepers of the things past, each house like this, is a little museum.
Yes and for me that was the best era of time 1955 till early 1960s
When items actually lasted more than 5 years. Love it! Like living in a museum. ❤
There’s only 1 word for this home: swell. It’s absolutely, positively, gloriously, totally & perfectly swell - an absolute gem. And so is the owner.
PS- an uncle had a 1960s console RCA color TV w/ a similar remote & in those days, it was magic.
Awesome to see an MCM that some amateur decorator didn't ruin by tearing everything out. This is the best I've seen so far! Great job!
One of the coolest homes I have ever seen, what a fantastic job he's done, superb. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing this with us.
I have died and gone to heaven. What a gorgeous, stunning mid century home. Things were built to last back then. I was born in 1967 and I love mid century decor and design. I have incorporated many original mid century pieces in my home. Sadly my home was built in 1992!! What I'd give to live in a mid century home. This is fabulous and sooo fantastic of the homeowner to preserve all of this.
Loves the sound effects with the opening of the frost free fridge and freezer. Classic
The detail on the handle of that 1958 Frigidaire refrigerator is exactly like the detail on the dashboard of my 1958 Cadillac! I guess so that you would be comforted by the continuity of design as you glided from the kitchen into your car...cause that's what you did in 1958.
What a great host! Thx Joe
Behold the Glory! I wasn’t aware of that connection ha.
I just came across your video in my feed today. I loved seeing this! I was born in 1959 and truly appreciate (and miss) the decor from the 50's and 60's. This made my day!
Charles, I've watched this many times. I think this is by far the best 50s home Ive seen. It looks like someone just walked out yesterday. Emily Twirls is a close second, but her home even though spectacular, looks a little more like a super collection. Thank you for posting all these. So fun.
What a great house, brings back so many memories.
Charles, love the old tv’s, radios and appliances. Anyone with these in the 50’s were basically upper class, they weren’t cheap! Still remember the epic moment my dad brought home our first colour tv in 1970, 26” Electrohome, made in Kitchener Ontario!
Checks out!
What’s amazing is that most everything works. It feels like a home, not a museum. What a joy to see. (And that remote control is the very definition of a “clicker”!)
FAN FREAKING TASTIC! Thanks, Charles and Joe!
the wall oven, the step on freezer, the dishwasher faucet.....better than the appliances i see today. i could move in. im a 27 yr old old soul.
my 1st apt had a '60s wall oven that worked perfectly still & i hosted my 1st thanksgiving dinner using it to cook a perfect turkey. when my mum saw the wall oven she was enthralled. she loved that u didnt have to bend over to cook in an oven & why did people stop using it??!!! & when they renovated their kitchen...yes, they did, a beautiful double wall oven. whenever i can i add something mid century ( late 20s-early 60s for my taste) to my home i do. treasure hunting is my fav hobby.
You make great videos Charles! I love the house and aren't collectors who like to live back in time the best people?! We are :)
What an absolute treasure trove! Love it! I didn’t know there was a neighborhood in Houston full of mid century homes! 😮 That washer and dryer pair are absolute gems! I NEEEEEED it!😍🥰
Totally amazing! I am blown away! Thanks for sharing your awesome house with us.
Some of those things I've never seen! Such as that Imperial faucet setup with the sprayer+soap. And the lamp that you could pull down. Cool stuff in the 50s and 60s.
(This is Tom, not Sandra.)
Great tour of your home, sir. Thank you for posting this video and sharing your fantastic Mid-Century Home and all of its decorations. I was born in the late 50's so l love all of these home furnishings you showed in this video. I miss those times in the 1960's, myself. Thanks again for that fantastic tour of your home, sir!! (Tom)
Looks warm, inviting and natural! Done well my friend!
Brings me back to my childhood
So cool! Like stepping back in time! My parents had one of those lights in our kitchen that you could raise and lower. It was also on a track so you could move it from side to side if you needed to expand your table.
THANK YOU SO MUCH CHARLES!!!! TOTALLY AWESOME MID-CENTURY MODERN HOME!!!! I LOVE ALL OF THE INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS FROM THE 40S AND 50S!!!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!
Loved geeking out over all the appliances. And I want that TV with chunky remote. Oh yes.
Wow! Love all of this. Brought back so many memories. My childhood home had many of these items. I had forgotten about the pull-down lamp over the table. You did a great job!
Thankyou Charles ❤️👍👏👌
Wow, what a cool mid century modern marvel!!! Thanks for sharing this beautiful gem!! 👍
Charles & Joe. You made my heart pitter patter as you are in my hometown Houston, TX. I hope you come to visit US again soon. What a great home! Our 1951 Ranch home had a pull down light similar to that one in 1975. Maytag, Frigidaire, & Kenmore was the BEST!
What an awesome home and owner! Thank you Charles and host for finding and sharing. My grandmother had the Maytags, American manufacturing at its finest and the Cadillac too, best years ever for quality and style. A beautiful home.
Waw! For a minute there, I thought I was watching Bewitched!!
I get serious ASMR watching this. Great stuff!
kudos to the detail oriented mid century collectors! Thankyou!
That's really a wonderful home.
Simple and practical but elegant.
Oh my goodness! A step-down then step-up living room. Very glamorous. Greetings from Palm Springs, California, the other mid-century modern city. Our living room is so similar to this one, except with a modernistic splash of Kandinsky.
Absolutely stunning in every way!!!
Where do we begin is right. Very cool. I remember one of my aunts having all blonde furniture.
Unbelievable! So true!
How do we even begin to behold the glory! OMG the pink Maytag washer and dryer!
Groovy baby!! Yeah! Yeah!
I love that the kitchen is where it should be and has not been opened up. I would remove the 70s' "updates" to the cabinetry and the tiled counter would have to go in favour of Formica. I am impressed that the appliances still work and how practical they are. I also love all the collectibles. If there is criticism to be made, it would be that there is too much dark brown panelling.
I guess that's why I like the show Bewitched so much as well, little bit after this era, in the same flavor, just seeing all of the decor and cars from back in the day,
Gorgeous!!! So well done⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
That Maytag pair truly represented why the Maytag repairman never had work, they lasted at least 😅25 years . Top of the line .
What a great tour Charles, thanks for sharing!
I’m in love with this house
I love these home tours so much! I’m not too far from Houston, & never knew there was a mid-century neighborhood there! Looks like I need to go take a drive and check it out!
Wow... Very impressive... He has really great things... You step through the door and it's like you step back in time... The kitchen is great... And the sign in the back yard is awsome... I really enjoyed watching the video.
Awsome is all I have to say about this home and it's furnishings.
Stunning, the washer/dryer, the stereo pieces, those ceiling lights. EVERYTHING !!! I had a couch like that in the early 70s. You have found some great pieces and assembled a lovely household. Well done. I’m envious!
What a cool house. My aunt and Uncle had that pull down lamp I their 1961 built home, also Maytag pink washer and dryer. I personally love the Frigidaire refrigerator and the RCA Hi Wi in the beautiful cabinet.
Guuurl, behold the glory! Love it! Superb. Love your voice too. Perfect voiceover quality.👌🏾😊
Way to bring it Charles! Keep the greatness coming!!
Absolutely beautiful!!! It takes me back to when I was a little boy.
Amazing!!! What blows my mind, aside from the incredible Design sense of the 50's that has now completely disappeared, Modern Design makes me want to vomit...Are the Incredible features that these appliances used to have! Like the Crisper Drawer you can REMOVE from your fridge, or the Light INSIDE the Dryer, totally genius! Nowadays they install completely moronic features like "lane assist" in ur cars becasue too many idiots text and drive. Totally convinced we are Dee-volving as a species..amazing house though!!!! thx Charles!!
Absolutely awesome
Thank you for so much fun. I remember an exact make/year washer/dryer pair in that condition for sale at Futures Collide in Pomona probably 10 years ago. I so regret not buying them. They're absolutely show stopping!
Wonderful washer and dryer set. My mom and dad had a 1957 Whirlpool, and not only did it have the tub light, but when it was done, a really loud buzzer went off and the top flipped open by itself!
Mid century modern is so UNDER rated. Love the clean lines and the simplicity. The kitchen is not to my liking, but it is at least period accurate. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful house, I loved it!
That is all so AWESOME! Thanks for pointing out each piece of AMERICANA! I’m shooting this one to a few buddies Charles! 👌🏼🪐🛰🚀
The energy knows quality! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Joe for doing this ,I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks this way , I think this is so cool
Wunderful tour collection - so nice of you - thank you
Totally cool! Thanks Joe for sharing your retro Houston house with Charles and all of us!
Charles you got the gift and you know how to use it! Every video is amazingly wonderful.
Love the exterior look of the house
This is incredible
Just unbelievable! This is great & fantastic. Thank you so much Charles. I just subscribed to your channel.
An amazing home. I love vintage and this is just wonderful!
This was so awesome! I love videos like this and I love your channel!
Oh my gosh. What is it about midcentury modern? I can't get enough of it! And this is so tastefully and cleverly done! The mural! The Scandinavian set! The imperial range! All so fabulous.
I had that washer dryer set, picked off a curb in the 2000's, worked excellent. Just replace the belt in rhe washer, and the dryer element if you can find it, mechanical parts.
They actually replaced a two year old new set that had already failed at the time.
Very 60s / 70s vibe, I think.
Very nice, I certainly appreciate this man's work to maintain the look / great ambiance.
Very cool!!! 👍☮
Lovely home. I miss when appliances were works of art.
what a wonderful home!
Great video, Charles! I wish that that TV with the remote had been demonstrated by turning it on.
This is hilarious,
The comedy/tragedy lamp.......
SPELLBINDING......LMFAO
Mid Century Modern technology can also be any technology that looks futuristic and cute. Modern Polaroid Cameras and modern Flip Phones from the 2010's are an example.
My gosh, I'm speechless!
I could wander that house all day long. SO many ultra-cool things. 😍
I WAS THE REMOTE CONTROL FOR OUR RCA TV BACK IN THE DAY! IN THE 60s
Charles, you are sooo COOL! May I say it, "I know." Please keep the videos coming!!! I know!
Love it! 🥰
Wow, so cool!!
Behold the glory, we're going in!
These video's can be a lot longer in my opinion! Love to se all the details, and more! Glitter ceilings, the fridge and those washers omg! In what world were some Americans living back then!? Amazing.
Heaven. What a dream
How cool! Thanks for sharing
We got are first RCA Colar tv in 1967 when I was a small boy. We had it many years. My dad would overhaul his own cars something he went to school on when he was in the armed forces during world war two. My dad had a best friend at work who knew how to repair TVs he was also a preacher of a African American Baptist church. My dad offered to do a valve job on his car in return he would fix are TV.
I have something like that from early 70s? With a remote control, and then there's also buttons like a type rater on the actual TV council. Pretty rare and it works
Absolutely Gorgeous!
Thanks for Sharing This!
And yes, all the Winners have glittered ceilings.
So. Cool. This made my day. Thank you ❤
My grandmother's house had a dishmaster faucet like that the whole time from when it was built in 1946 to when she passed in late 2001.
Fantastic
Super good. Great job.
Great House, Great Host, Great Commentary! 👍👍
MY FAVORITE was the cobwebs on the atomic orbit light
When we got our first Color TV! Thought all the old tv shows & movies, would turn into color! Like the Flash Gordon’s. Serial?
We got our first color TV on a 50-50 bet -- my parents told me that we'd get a color TV if the third child in our family was a girl. Well, come the night in 1968 with my and my little brother staying at our grandparents' place while Dad was at the hospital with Mom... he called and asked for then-four year old me and announced "We're getting a color TV!" and I dropped the phone and yelled, "I have a sister!" XD
you're both Awsome! just like this unique video.... 😘
