The members of the odd Addams Family are up to more macabre antics in this sequel. This time around, Gomez Addams (Raul Julia) and his wife, Morticia (Anjelica Huston), are celebrating the arrival of a baby boy. But siblings Wednesday (Christina Ricci) and Pugsley (Jimmy Workman) are none too happy about the new addition, and try their best to eliminate the infant. When nanny Debbie Jelinsky (Joan Cusack) appears to keep the kids in line, her presence leads to an unexpected treacherous twist.

The Addams family is actually really wholesome. Gomez and Morticia really do love their children! Look at how they don’t like that there kids want to go to camp (or at least think they do) but they still agree to let them go; and when the baby was possessed Morticia still was reading that book to her baby despite the fact she hated it!
Not only did she read it to him but she had to go buy it. I seriously doubt they already had Dr. Seuss on the bookshelf.
fun fact the book the author when writing it was suicidal so when she skips to the end an see its finished she knows he didnt go through with it an says oh look he survives. thats why she picked that book
Not to mention, they went to a show their kids wanted to take part in, even though they clearly weren't enjoying the others acts and they gave Wednesday and Pugsley a standing ovation.

@@ericjanssen394 I mean, the original "series" were the 1 panel comics in the New Yorker, which were a satirical take on "modern" American family ideal, and pretty macabre. They didn't even have names until the 60's show.
Fun fact: Pugsley's name was originally going to be Pubert when he was created, so it's nice to see the name come back around eventually.
I heard you say that Fester wasn't the real brother, he actually is. After lightning from the hurricane book hit his head, Festers memories were unlocked. He had amnesia from when he was lost in the Bermuda triangle.

The original version of the script was going to end with Gordon not being the real Fester, but the cast had Christina Ricci talk to Barry Sonnenfeld about having him being the real Fester even.

Joan Cusack as the Black Widow killer, she nailed the role, I dare say she surpassed it. And Wednesday's takeover of the summer camp -- nothing will ever top this scene. It's utter perfection

I know it's Wednesday's childhood ambition to be like her ancestor Calpurnia Addams and to be recognised as a witch after dancing naked in the town square and enslaving a minister, but I'm hoping she'll reconsider and go into the theatre instead, she has a commanding stage presence or could be an excellent critic.
30:42 what Gary and Becky forgot to take into account is that while the movies are upbeat and happy, some of them also had heroines/protagonists that rebel against what's expected of them and Wednesday, Pugsley and Joel got the message loud and clear. Ironically the movies did work, just a little too well.

I always saw Addams Family Values as equally entertaining as the first movie. Its a great double feature. The humor is definitely darker, but the love of the Addams family is the same

Heather's is also a dark comedy. More dark that Addam's family and less comedy generally. I'm interested to see your reaction if you watch it.

The sad thing is, the person who played Gomez, actually did die after this movie due to cancer. Otherwise, I think we would've gotten a third movie.
When Gomez said, “It’s an Addams.”, The Addams Family felt Queer affirming in that moment.

This is one of my favorite movies! Wednesday literally stealing the show and setting the stage on fire was absolute perfection. And watching you writhe and squirm at the blatant racism in the first half of the play was so satisfying lol

Weirdly Debbie for right into the family. If she hasn't tried to split them up she would have been welcomed with open arms and open wallets.
Wednesday, Thing, and Uncle Fester are my favorite characters. Debbie is played by Joan Cusack (Jessie from Toy Story); I recommend her other films Ice Princess and School of Rock. Other films I recommend for Christina Ricci (Wednesday) are Penelope, Lizzie Borden Took An Axe, and Speed Racer. For Christopher Loyd (Uncle Fester), Angels In The Outfield, My Favorite Martian, and Baby Geniuses.

I just love how Debbie physically reacts to that question before demanding they leave.
Remember Wednesday said she'd scare her husband to death, if she's trying to scare Joel to death right now, probably means she still plans on marrying him at some point. Also could be a test to see what he's made of - you want to be sure of a man before you get into a serious relationship with him, even if it's just dating.
And let's not forget, when Debbie was electrocuting Fester and trying to blow him up he thought it was a sign of affection from her so maybe Wednesday's doing the same here

Funny thing, the Addamses (especially Morticia) were ready to accept Debbie if she didn't try to split up the family. They were even overlooking her psychotic nature. If Debbie admitted to being a black widow, Morticia would've probably given her a list.
Forget overlooking, they would’ve embraced her psychotic nature. She would’ve fit right in.

RIP Raul Julia...he was such a great Gomez Addams ! His chemistry with Angelica Huston as Morticia is amazing, pure passion and love...one of the best couple in all of fiction !!

Being Native and the weird "goth" girl growing up, I've always loved that Thanksgiving scene lol. The whole movie is so much fun. Tbh Debbie fits right in with the family. 🖤

Joan Cusack deserved all the accolades and more for portraying Debbie Jellinski. A brilliant performance, great comic timing and she had a whole scene where she shined.

This alway gets me even this film is insanly quotable, quirky and fun.
In Polish translations it gets even better. They translated it to "hearts eater" which has the same meaning here but is way funnier considering they treat it literally xD

The way Gomez faints after seeing the baby sick 😂 locking the kids in that cabin, forcing them to watch Disney is the cruelest torture ever! I felt that! I just love how they love and support each other, this one is my favourite and this cast is the best, I’m not sure if I wanna watch the new series “Wednesday” 🤔

I miss when kids movies were like this. “Our parents had sex.” Everyone’s paranoid now about kids and messing them up. I grew up with Return To Oz, the scariest kids film ever.
I dunno about scariest, but most traumatizing would have to be "Watership Down"... I loved it :)
I'm not sure which of these two I like better. The first one felt more fun to me as we were discovering this family and their home and ways. I kinda liked that. Either way, they are both fun films for me. I wish they had done more with this cast when they could have. RIP Raul Julia. You will always be my favorite Gomez. I love how the two Addams movies never got afraid of pushing envelopes with their dark humor. And it's amazing how all the jokes works, even the most simple or silly ones.
I hope you can also watch Addams Family Reunion in the future, Tim. Sadly it's considered the weakest entry of the trilogy but it is still entertaining.
In this movie I feel bad for Fester that he fell in love with Debbie in the first place. That psycho woman tried to kill him more than a few times.

Uhh, no: The point, as the first movie got right, is that the Addamses. DO consider themselves fine upstanding members of society, and can’t understand why people react so strangely whenever they show up.
Gary Granger and Becky Martin Granger are the MVP of this movie. Christine Baranski needs to be in more comedies.

Probably the last good adaptation we had of the Addams family, why the one with Tim curry is bad and the 2 animated movies were somewhat disappointing, We'll see if Netflix's upcoming Wednesday series does the franchise justice.

Me - No they're real brothers, and he is the real Fester.
Fester was lost at sea, lost all memories of the Addams Family, was found and adopted by the woman who said she was his mother, and thought he was her son. When he was struck by lightning at the end of the movie, that brought back all his memories of the Addams Family.

You must've missed the bit at the end of the last movie, in the epilogue, were it was revealed that Gordon WAS in fact the real Fester after all... his "mother" found him in a fishing net in the Bermuda Triangle and the lightning from the book jogged his memory. That's how he knew the Mamushka.
He had talked through the “mother” saying she’d found him and wasn’t paying attention as Gomez mentioned that Fester really had been found with amnesia all those years ago.
Very few things give me joy like the whole Thanksgiving Play Sequence. Best takedown of a holiday on screen.

Loved the first movie and this one.
Unfortunately after the release of this movie Raul Julia who played Gomez, passed away from a heart attack. They did make a sequel, but only Carel Struycken who played Lurch and Christopher Hart, tho played Thing returned. Tim Curry played Gomez in the sequel and did a pretty good job, but the chemistry of the original cast just couldn't be matched in the sequel.

Same situation with me. I'm in my 20s, two years older than my brother, look like a 15 year old, and think like a 12 year old.
The actor who plays Gary Granger was also in ‘Bean: The Movie’. Do check it out. Also, it has Sandra Oh in one of her first major acting roles.

He's best known to modern audiences as the voice of Timon in _The Lion King_ opposite Ernie Sebella as Pumba, and also played Max Bialystock in the Broadway adaptation of _The Producers_ while starring opposite _Lion King_ and _Ferris Bueller's Day Off_ star Matthew Broderick as Leo Bloom. But what is the coolest fact is that Nathan Lane would eventually play Gomez himself when _The Addams Family_ became a Broadway musical

I started this morning watching Storm Akima react to Addams Family Values. As I finished it, I got a notification that NickFlix dropped his Addams Family Values reaction 37 seconds ago, so I went and clicked on that. 12 min in, TimotheeReacts drops his Addams Family Values reaction. I guess this is what I'm doing today lol. It's all good cuz it's probably my all-time favorite Thanksgiving movie
I did the same thing lol except I saw Storm's the other day. Had to watch both this one and Nick's back to back though.
Bald eagles are far from extinct. We have some that live near here. There's a web cam on their nest that you can watch. Meal time is pretty gross.
