    I’m 15, yet I’m getting this done on Aug 13. Kinda nervous cause I’m a singer and I don’t want it to mess up my voice, i know it’s supposed to make it less nasal but what if it doesn’t work or just messes something up?!

    • @lilahaddix9138
      @lilahaddix9138 6 років тому +1

      Now I’m not a singer, but I do love to sing, and I was a little worried about that too, and as I’m writing this comment I’m 5 days post op, but I watched this episode of The Doctors and it briefly explained. They said that it might change the tone of your voice because they’re taking something out of you so it will make some space, maybe like if you were to take part of a recorder off it wouldn’t be able to make the same noises but if you have good vibrato, or like good technique it does nothing to that obviously.

    • @lilahaddix9138
      @lilahaddix9138 6 років тому +1

      It shouldn’t mess anything up if you don’t have a crap doctor. Now as far as healing and stuff, since you’re fifteen, we are around the same age, but you’re about 3 years older than me. We will heal at relatively the same pace. If you were like 28 though, it would take much longer. I had a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy, and it hurt pretty bad the moment I woke up but I am used to this as the reason why I got this done in the first place is because I have bad breath, snoring, and awful sore throats all the time. It was mandatory. Good luck though!!!! Have fun singing! When you’re healed though, I tried singing and it hurts while in recovery!!! ❤️❤️❤️

      Possum Princess ok, thank you so much! It turns out I may also have to get my tonsils removed so I’m glad you could give me this information it’s very Helpful!

    • @lilahaddix9138
      @lilahaddix9138 6 років тому +1

      Ashton Oh, no problem!!!!! So glad I could help you. Since you may be getting those out too, I’ll go a bit further into that as well. For me, the hospital was at a mad delay, we showed up at the buttcrack of Dawn for no reason, it took them like 6 hours to actually start the surgery. Turns out there were like a million patients before us, but yours probably won’t be like that. They wheel you by bed because the bed has wheels, it’s kinda cool. They took me to the recovery room first where they gave me the surgery cap, which is basically just a piece of cloth with elastic around it, similar to a hairnet. They then wheeled me to the surgery room. I scooted over to the actual platform they do the surgery on. I would call it a bed but it’s pretty much just a metal platform with a cloth on it. It’s not super comfortable but by the time you’re there, it won’t be long at all before you’re unconscious. By that time they would’ve already given you anesthesia I’m sure. For me, the anesthesia was given to me by IV, there’s another tube thing that has a little cap on it, so they inject it in here and you’re arm with feel cold again. If you’ve never had an IV before, I’m only 12 and it’s really not awful. They do a shot of lidocaine first so you can’t feel it, cause it hurts if you do it without the lidocaine injection. That’s a 1.5 on the pain scale for me, stubbing my toe even just lightly hurts wayyy worse. After that, you can’t feel anything in that area. However, sometimes they do anesthesia other ways as well. Either way, they’ll put a mask of just pure oxygen on you, and you’ll slowly start to just drift off. I don’t mean to scare you, but the pain is pretty bad when you wake up. It’s like a 7 on the painscale, but I was used to it since I have awful sore throats 1-3 times a week....well, I used to. I hope you have an awesome recovery! ❤️❤️❤️🦄🦄

    I am 33 years old. I heard this procedure is mostly done on children. However i think this is excactly what i would need. Been diagnosed with chronic pharyngitis. My breathing feels like hell. I am gasping for air. Cant breath normally through nose. Its been going on for years since i started to choke on my own swollen tissue.

    • @newyyykkll
      @newyyykkll 8 років тому

      +Uroš Peteh I think I need that as well, I had a flexible laryngoscopy but it really didn't seem to find anything, I know for sure mine is caused by my smoking habit, and for 1 year now, I have like a little white thing on my soft palate but it's manageable, but for 4 months, I have this mucus feeling that never goes away no matter how many times I swallow it on the back of throat. I also have persistent coughing, my nose is irritated easily, shortness of breath, but the constant phlegm really is the worst.. Think I have to go back to visit my ENT once more and ask to check if I can have the incision done

    • @urospeteh2637
      @urospeteh2637 8 років тому

      +URCHIN SAM Thanks for your answer. In my case, it turned out my problems are caused due to lingual tonsil chronic inflammation. I was close-adenoid and lingual tonsil are both 'inner' tonsils. But only third doctor found that out, because he looked deep down enough. So now it will be a long waiting line before i get this removal procedure. Sorry, my english is not the best. I really hope you get well, too.

    • @lilahaddix9138
      @lilahaddix9138 6 років тому

      Yes! That’s quite mandatory, operating without anesthetic is a big no-no, that would be excruciating. If you’re having the surgery, for me, the worst part is probably the recovery. The surgery itself, you won’t feel anything but the IV, that only hurts for a second. The anesthesia is given in a couple different ways but I mine was deposited through the IV in a tube hat connects to the main tube. The put an oxygen mask on, and that smells like plastic, and you’ll just breathe in and out and slowly drift off.

    • @Silver1080P
      @Silver1080P 6 років тому

      its blinky first of all you would constantly gag and throw up until there was nothing left to throw up, you would continue gagging and feel your adenoids slowly being burned away. That's a minor explanation, it would send the average person into shock I believe.

    • @lilahaddix9138
      @lilahaddix9138 6 років тому

      There’s a reason why they put you to sleep, if they knew it didn’t hurt then we wouldn’t have anesthetists and anesthesiologists because there would be no need, it wouldn’t hurt. But to answer your question, yes, it would be excruciating.
