I can not STOP the smile that spreads over my face with that first bit of intro. Timing "First Hyperdrive" to the start of that guitar in the background just....jesus fuck. Tingles every time.
I forgot how nicely they drew Niko's body. WOW! This was a fun sci-fi show with a lot of personality and violence that had actual consequences. The stories I remember the best featured the Hartford (the black guy) on a science-fantasy world. Technology existed but the locals thought it magic. Their were something like two episodes on the world and they were swashbuckling adventures.
One of my favourite cartoons. I used to watch this in German in the 80's. He-man, Mask, Inspector Gadget, Smurfs, Jetsons, Defenders of the earth etc. Awesome. It wasn't just a music revoultion but cartoons were also out of this world. In todays PC world these cartoons wouldn't be shown. It would be construed as too violent.
I'm so glad I am old enough to of grown up in the 80's and there cartoons as they was epic, But today shesh I swear If I ever have a kid I will only let him/her watch old cartoons from my time.
I think animators were far more talented in the 80s. I recall most of the cartoons i grew up with such as this and thundercats among many others were very well animated. IMO Modern day cartoons rely too heavily on CG assistance and it shows a lack of detail and character in the animations.
I think this was the first cartoon I ever owned on video... My dad got it for me as a present to cheer me up after having an operation when I was 4 or 5... Bringing back some damn good memories! It's either this or Thundercats for best intro song :D
Holy crap this intro is awesome! I don't think I ever watched this show, but this intro and the "Wheeled Warriors" theme songs, are some of the best I have ever heard.
I grow up 80's cartoons and some very early 90's cartoons getting so old lol. But is it just me or did our cartoons not only rock but the intro music was also so fricking pimp
One thing this intro always reminds me of, is those old radio dramas like The Shadow and The War Of the Worlds. Imagine Orson Welles saying "These are the adventures of the GALAXY RANGERS!!"
this was aired in 1986 and the year that took place was 2086. that is 100 years into the future for an 80s cartoon that had a story plot exactly that far into the future.
funny how in 2086 ( cos the cartoon came out in 1986) humanity had regressed to the wild west days ....in 100 years folks, we are gonna be back in the last frontier ..
My friends and I found an old VHS randomly with an episode of Galaxy Rangers on it. We watched it 2-3 times in a row. What an awesome show. This show made my childhood.
For a children's animated series made in 1986, this was actually a pretty good show here's a list of reasons why: 1. The voice acting and acting in general is masterful 2. The artstyle and animation is outstanding 3. The stories and plots are usually pretty well written 4. This show actually allows fist fighting 5. The Rangers themselves are all competent, responsible and always dedicated to there Job, unlike G.i.joe who usually had a habit of letting Cobra Commander escape in there original animated series. The Rangers on the other hand always do everything they can in there power to bring the criminals they face to justice. 10. Unlike G.I.Joe the lasers in this show can actually stun and KO there targets since killing is out of the question on a children's animated series. Thus aren't completely useless beams of light. Really the only bad things about this series are a few unnecessary reuses of animation and scenes, a few silly moments and episodes and most of the villans don't have much characterization to them outside of being criminals.
One of the best animated shows I have ever saw. Notice: 1 woman, 1 black man and 1 amputee before networks suits make it kind of mandatory. Oh and the blond guy is a mutant experimet.
Exactly. That's one of the reasons I scratch my head when they say women and people of color were not represented. It's just not accurate. This was it done right.
You know, I couldn't help but wonder: If aliens really did show up and give us hyperdrive technology, would we use it to open the universe to all of humanity like in the cartoon, or would some government agency keep it a secret for some stupid reason?
The problem i had with the cartoons like this at the time. Awesome looking and kick ass Intro animations. Crap looking episodes that looked like animated by a 12yro... Like all the budget for the freakin thing did go in the intro, and they had to do with the scraps for the actual cartoon... look at TMNT Intro and then the cartoon in itself, you will understand the pain...
For quite a bit of this show's life (which wasn't long, BTW), the animation was awesome. I could even tell as a kid then that the animation was by a Japanese studio, doing work for American employers (the setting, "Rangers" and wild west in space dealio). The Japanese style to me was apparent with the characters (though heavily "Americanized" in style, it stood out to me still), but it really stood out with the spacecraft and how they moved. Anyways, the show was cool, and I do remember some fabulous large scale space combat scenes. The show was very hard to catch on TV back in the day. I remember that you were damn lucky to find it air in the weekday afternoons, the primetime spot for cartoons (that or Saturday mornings). In my area, I learned that for some reason, the local channels aired Galaxy Rangers at around 8 a.m., weekdays. It also seemed to constantly shift when it was to show. It was impossible to watch! Those horrible spots ensured no matter how cool this cartoon was, it was absolutely screwed. My favorite character of course was Goose. A blatant nod to Clint Eastwood, he was just too damn cool...
I agree 100 percent. GRs was very obscure and underrated but way ahead of its time. Japanese studios would do that to any show made to broadcast for US. When I saw it i was always into it but the enjoyment was very shortlived.
I miss these kind of cartoons, where they make it where anything is possible, and they at least try to teach you something. Nowadays, too many folks are trying to make old shows more about 'equality,' instead of just starting from scratch and build something from the start.
I firmly believe that these great 80's cartoons (and star trek) are the reason most of us turned-out to be be descent people. Yes, most of these shows involved space travel and were set in the future, but that future was hopeful that mankind would eventually get its $hi* together and achieve some modicum of peace; uniting to venture into a new era of space-travel and exploration. It seems the themes of today's shows (cartoons like this don't really exist anymore) are rather dystopian and lack that hope. It's like people have given up on the hope that we can make a better future and simply wish to survive instead of work for a better world. Yes these cartoons always had adversity to overcome but together, good would triumph. Now, people seem to have the mindset of "survival of the cruel" and "to hell with you". I don't know... just my two cents.
I loved this cartoon as a child Goose has wolverines powers but far better I wish they would reboot this. I say that but I’m 40 so I’m not sure if I would still be as entertained
I watched T-Cats, Bravestarr, COPS, GI JOE, DENVER the Last Dinosuar, Silverhawks, Wheeled Warriors - when was this on? I've never seen this how growing up
I can not STOP the smile that spreads over my face with that first bit of intro. Timing "First Hyperdrive" to the start of that guitar in the background just....jesus fuck. Tingles every time.

super
I'm so glad I am old enough to of grown up in the 80's and there cartoons as they was epic, But today shesh I swear If I ever have a kid I will only let him/her watch old cartoons from my time.
Technology is so much better now so why do cartoons today look so much worse than in the 80's?
I think animators were far more talented in the 80s. I recall most of the cartoons i grew up with such as this and thundercats among many others were very well animated. IMO Modern day cartoons rely too heavily on CG assistance and it shows a lack of detail and character in the animations.
Toy sells in the 80's also made the high production cost possible.
Farq offkent I'm with ya! That is why I'm going to become an animator and bring back 2D traditional animation. That's my goal!
80s and 90s rock. todays cartoons look awful. only one I watch is spongebob and I'm 29 lol
Now they rely on Korea for cheaper animation
Wow this takes me back. What a fantastic show.
The early days of production at the studios in Las Colinas, TX. (Voice-over work) Great to see this again. This series was way ahead of its time.
+Blah Hi, I'm sorry but you were the voice at the beginning of this opening? Or you were the voice during the episodes? Thanks!
Where in Las Colinas?
There used to be a voice over studio around here? :o
I think this was the first cartoon I ever owned on video... My dad got it for me as a present to cheer me up after having an operation when I was 4 or 5... Bringing back some damn good memories!
It's either this or Thundercats for best intro song :D
What about Bravestarr 😇
Goosebumps.. THIS .. THIS INTRO THIS THEME IS LIKE THE ESSENCE OF THE 80,s LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE THIS
Before Firefly...
before Cowboy Bebop...
before Outlaw Star...
there was
The Adventures of The Galaxy Rangers!
+spectre111
before Terminator 2
Before batman tas clayface
There was Shane Gooseman
Before that, there was Star Musketeer Bismarck, later adapted into Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs.
To be fair though, before there was Shane Gooseman, there was Dirty Harry. =-P
before galaxy rangers, there was bravestarr!!! that show was made by filmation, an American company!!!!!!!
No, Galaxy Rangers came first; they debuted in 1986.
Holy crap this intro is awesome! I don't think I ever watched this show, but this intro and the "Wheeled Warriors" theme songs, are some of the best I have ever heard.
Music was fundamental in the 80's. That's why cartoons today dont stick in the memory
I grow up 80's cartoons and some very early 90's cartoons getting so old lol.
But is it just me or did our cartoons not only rock but the intro music was also so fricking pimp
Just stopping by while on my nostalgia trip. Next stop, THUNDERCATS!
One thing this intro always reminds me of, is those old radio dramas like The Shadow and The War Of the Worlds.
Imagine Orson Welles saying "These are the adventures of the GALAXY RANGERS!!"
That would be *SO* cool!
...no guts no gloryyyyy!
Childhood memories! 😊
I wonder if in 2086 people will be reading these comments.
here in 2020. almost there!
Reading in 2023
One of the coolest intros ever.

damn good intro and ending song though

RAPH FELIX I think it makes sense. No matter how you look at it, the space frontier will be dangerous and it'd be just like the days of traveling west
***** thank you for making my morning :)
I can only answer: Firefly
AWESOME SHOW so underrated.
lol the 80s...glad that was my childhood time era growing up...
Demonkai Mugen okay boomer
Live action movie needs to be made of this!
Goosebumps,,,,,goosebumps,,,,,,goosebumps all over me. All the Childhood memories are pouring like avalanche!!!
Awesome animated show. If there was a Galaxy Rangers movie, that would be great.
i almost cry watching this... nice time... a better world...
sorry for new generation...
OMG! I've always loved the opening song, It's just amazing!!
this was a bad-ass cartoon! man i love that theme song, thank you for posting this!
Now I feel so old when I watch this. Watched Galaxy Rangers back when I was like 3 years old
I like the opening song. Very catchy. Why there are no songs written like that anymore?
I loved this cartoon and I loved the awesome song! They do not make either one like that nowadays.
"Into these worlds of unknown danger they ride!"
Now that's a high quality intro.
Man they don't make kid shows like this anymore.
It's strange, I thought I'd seen all the toons in the 80s, but I don't remember this.
Loved this show!!
i feel you miss this kinda stuff
lol just a wee bit lol!!!
My friends and I found an old VHS randomly with an episode of Galaxy Rangers on it. We watched it 2-3 times in a row. What an awesome show. This show made my childhood.

is it just me, or does the guitar work in this sound like 'Highway to the Danger Zone'?
Love those Western cartoon intros with anime elements on them.
My Childhood!
One of the best animated shows I have ever saw. Notice: 1 woman, 1 black man and 1 amputee before networks suits make it kind of mandatory. Oh and the blond guy is a mutant experimet.

Tekrothebountyhunter Perhaps they'd try, but it wouldn't work for long.
Opening animation is in another level TMS' doing i think. I don't think production's normal scenes would catch this animation quality.
The problem i had with the cartoons like this at the time.
Awesome looking and kick ass Intro animations.
Crap looking episodes that looked like animated by a 12yro...

These series were the best! No shit you see on TV today
October 29, 2023. First time I've ever heard of this show. Going strictly by the imagery, it looks like a cross between Silver Hawks and Lone Star
I loved this show!

Im 35. I remember watching this. I remember liking the song.....i still fucking like it!!
Japanese animation at its finest, this is my childhood
Can't find quality cartoons like this anymore. Its a damn shame.
Love the soundtrack...oh my childhood
I'm 4 years old again LOL awesome song
Been looking for this cartoon for a long time.... I literally typed in space rangers cartoon and boom I found it lol
If there was any cartoon that needed to be made into a CGI feature, The Galaxy Rangers is it!
i love this song....
Gotta love a good Space Western
Looks Really Great
All the 80's cartoon introspection were do in Japan and the episodes here in the states. The intros looked better the the actual episodes.
Yeah I love the adventures of the galaxy rangers tv show series theme song
Kenny Loggins should have did the theme for Galaxy Rangers!!
holy effing shit, it's Lord Beerus during his awkward adolescence with a bowl cut!
amazing draws!!! love it
and the cartoons are like shit today i would like to have a time machine to go back to 80s
Those ranger intercepters and this tune
Top gun in space then cow boys in space how can you not like this
Still my favourite 80s cartoon theme
♫ no guts no glory ♫
One of the best damn intros to a cartoon...EVER!
tHis was an awesome show, the scarecrow stories are dark, for a cartoon.
Awesome intro
though this is one of my favs i think batman beyond has the sickest intro. Jus my op
Goose was the coolest character on this show!
seria muito bom se tiverse novos epsodios...
Animation was so good back then
great song

Jadi inget waktu masih kecil,..haaa..haa
would be for sure a great movie if directors/producers choose the right actors and story
Best theme song of any other cartoon before or since.
Jerry Orbach played the voice of the bionic armed leader Zachary Foxx years before he played Detective Lennie Briscoe on "Law & Order".
He's just talking like normal more or less as well. Zachary Foxx sounds pretty much like Briscoe.
Without the New York attitude. ;-)
It is one of those "gotchas of indeterminate origin":he played a cop in an animated series and then played a cop in a live-action one.
Good old days.
how does it feel people of #2086 knowing that you DON"T have #galaxyrangers ? HAAAA HAAAA!!
I LOVE THE SHOW
..Memories!!
i like it....
0:34 - Where could one find that pinging sound effect
SOOOOO far ahead of it's time it's still ahead of modern shows.
Live action no estilo James Gunn ⭐⭐⭐
Galaxy Rangers Cartoon Epic
Not to mention the themes of the shows couldn't be more different.

egnod that was as profound as it was gutsy. My hat is off to you.
STORYPEOPLE!
That's one hell of a job name to leave behind.
Memories..... -sigh-
that was what was to come for the power rangers....
that singer sounds like he had a 5 oclock shadow and a mullet
I loved this cartoon as a child Goose has wolverines powers but far better I wish they would reboot this. I say that but I’m 40 so I’m not sure if I would still be as entertained
😁 How many people memorized this intro, and into their adult years 😎👍
i like this
I watched T-Cats, Bravestarr, COPS, GI JOE, DENVER the Last Dinosuar, Silverhawks, Wheeled Warriors - when was this on? I've never seen this how growing up
