Here's the deal: Through 2 decades in this hobby I've never seen older betta than 3 years plus few months, that's my record, they usually live that long here in Europe. If they live like 1 year that is because of poor conditions or bad genes, nothing else. 5 years? Not average lifespan but possible, I heard from old pros like 50years or more experience. 7 years old betta? Nah, that's just fake urban legend. It would be like a 205 years old human, that's not real.
I've kept bettas off & on for about 24 yrs & the most long lived betta I've ever had is the one I have now. He is 3 yrs old. He's a solid black halfmoon plakat. His name is Marty & he's a really great fish. Very sweet, with lots of personality. He lives alone in a heated, filtered, nicely decorated 5 gal aquarium. He seems to like his tank. He eats good & is still pretty active. Most of the bettas I have had lived to be about 2.
Hi sir aqua diary 😊 I wants to breed my bettas , but don't know the male is ready to breed , he is making bubble nest, but I think he is too small, how can I send you pics of my male betta ,?? So you can tell me ,is he ready to breed, ❤
@@aquadiaryofficial lol. Live plants make everything expensive😂 I put almost $500 (including stand, filter, heater, lights etc) into my 40 gallon biotope for a pair of imbellis Bettas 😅🥰
Yeah I remember one person getting a betta fish because they seemed easy and inexpensive… but then after being the tank, equipment, decorations, substrate, etc. etc., the price quickly added up 😅 Beggars themselves can also range in price depending on the type and where you get them, anywhere from $2-5 to tens or probably even hundreds of dollars
I have had Betta's for most of my life. My Betta's average life spans have been 3 - 3 1/2 years. My regular veil tailed Betta's have seemed to be the hardest and healthiest. I still have Betta's and just love them 💗
I recommend beginner to pick a red fancy betta fish or solid color betta fish (Super Red, Royal Blue, Orange, Super Black, Copper, White Platinum or Yellow) because it's not so expensive, then when you start to understand them, try grizzle, mascot, butterfly series, mustard gas and blue rim. I recommend to have a plakat or halfmoon.
Definitely agree there too! From what I’ve read red or blue bettas seem to be the most common and inexpensive types of betta, along with veiltail and halfmoon tail types, and they’re usually very hardy too! Short-finned bettas like plakats are definitely my pick because they tend to be more active and less prone to health problems

I actually thought of getting a red veiltail and naming him Rusty! 😄 Feels like such a perfect name, and I love that you refer to his 10 gallon as a bachelor pad (I planned on giving mine a 20 long and thought of it as a mansion for him^^)
@@garg4531 ❤️❤️❤️! Before I actually saw him and bought him, he was gonna be Oscar. But on the way home it became Rusty. His full name is Rusty Raspberry, but I call him Rusty Razz lol. He’s the coolest fish! He doesn’t like the 10 gallon filled right to the top tho. He prefers it to be around 7 or 8 so he can blow bubbles underneath the leaves sticking out of the water. IN LOVE!!!
@@angelawhite2022 Rusty Razz, I love it!^^ Gosh he sounds amazing ❤️ Definitely hope I can get a betta one day so I can enjoy their amazing personalities 💕

Betta fish are inexpensive??? 😱 Lol. Looking at my $300 setup for my newest import boy who cost me $60. 😂💀
