the sound on the Javelin is beautiful. I had the chance to see this race at Sears Point and it was awesome. Thanks for sharing this.

I owned a '65 K code fastback Mustang in the early 90's that I was having reconditioned and the Shelby mods applied at Orlando Mustang (technically in Osteen Fl.) and they had a barn full of rare Mustangs in their shop and one was a real Boss 302 Trans Am car. One day I was inspecting it closely and pressed on the some of the panels and noted how much give they had. I mentioned it to the owner and he said yeah the sheet metal is paper thin as they used to dip the bodies in acid to melt away some of it to reduce weight but still present as OEM steel bodies per regulation.

Is the #77 Dodge the same one that had to have its roof replaced to make it legal? We know acid-dipping and other "creative reading" of the rules were rampant in Trans-Am's glory days. IIRC: the Dodges were "chemically treated" to make them lighter. When going thru tech, an official rested his hand on the roof of the car and it dimpled 'cause it was so thin after dipping, & story has it the team had to cut the roof off a car at a local dealer in a scramble to make it eligible to race!

This is the right place when you want to show those nutters wrong -- who think American Muscle is only raced on a straight line!
This is my kind of American Muscle!!!
