When trying a sad card make sure to use a SDHC. It don’t think it will work with the newer faster speed cards such as the SDXC. I have seen people use 32GB cards.
My primary camera is a D40 I also have a D90 and a D7200. I recently got my D40 to use my 55mm Nikkor f2.8 lens. in Manual mode. I am going to try some night photography. I wish I could show you some of my D40 shots. Keep up the great work. It is nice to see someone showing old gear kicking but lol. Look forward to more of your D40 adventures.
Which do you recommend, d90 or the d5100. I am mostly into stills, but will like to have the ability for an occasional video and autofocus capabilities.
I would get a nikon d5100 would be your better bet, high megapixel, better video quality and it's a bit newer so you won't have to worry as much about high shutter counts
Own my D40 since v2006. Whileas i have better gear, the D700, the D40 is still fine, to travel light. If one can't make a decent composition with the D40, or any other old 6 MP APS-C/DX DSLR, it's time for another hobby. I've created many of my own, personal memories since 2006 with the D40. Still using it from time to time, nowadays.
@@PinkhatPhotography "Little" is underscored, that thing is like 1040gr. with CF card and EN-EL3e, but no lens attached. :) It's heavy, especially on photowalks. Got my copy since 2010. I am a OVF guy, not being a fan of EVFs, no matter which resolution, but grown up with film, i do need an OVF, and have way sensitive eyes, so i do get eyestrain, headaches & swindel, eye fatique after few mins using any EVF-based gear. The D700 is fine, and decent lenses are being avialable via used market.
Hi Nick Enjoyed your video and I'm always happy to see a older camera used. Just a thought but maybe since the three focus points are a inconvenience, switch to manual focusing for portrait?? Did you shoot your landscape photos in standard, vivid, or vivid plus? Best wishes Duane
Oh yeah! That's a really good read! It's interesting how similar it is to the d40 to the point where he said to just buy the d40 lol I kinda want to try the "video" mode with the d60

Oh man if you're on social media at all I'm on Facebook and Instagram would love to see your work!!!
How would"hyper focal distance" be set up on a camera like this....how can you with only 3 focusing areas. Got any suggestions? Thanks
I have no idea lol

Oh yeah I get that. Ofv is what I'm getting into as I get deeper into large format photography
Are you shooting raw or are all those pics jpegs? Kind of important info.
Raw, everything I shoot in is raw
Is that the only way they will be good? I have a d40 and I am pretty new to photography
No, the d40 is completely capable of taking amazing photos in jpeg, I prefer raw cause I have more room to edit
Can we record videos from it
No sadly the d40 doesn't take video

I shot them all in standard, and I can't do much with manual focus my eyes aren't very good lol

You're very very welcome! The d40 is fantastic for landscape photography, but def not one I would use for portraits
I use a 32 GB in my d40
What brand? I'm wondering if the cars I'm using is the issue now
