  • "Le Voyage dans la Lune" (Trip to the Moon) is a French film released in 1902 assuming a revolution for the time. Its author, Georges Méliès, was the first great creator of the cinema, the pioneer in providing the first films of a real argument. Artist, magician, illusionist, juggler, the versatile Méliès, saw the new invention of the cinema a way to increase the promotion of their numbers. Although his aesthetic was dominated by the art of the theater, conceived numerous tricks and effects that included in more than 800 films. The influence it has had Méliès in film technique is incalculable, and today we can refer to it as the first devise cinema as spectacle.
    Trip to the Moon (1902) is considered the first science fiction film, and in it are evidenced the characteristic features of the genre (the spacecraft, exploring new horizons ...). Some of the best known cinematic techniques are already present in this film, like fade, overprinting, the use of models, etc.
    SYNOPSIS:
    The story begins with a meeting of scientists in Dr. Barbenfouillis (played by Georges mellies own) tries to convince his colleagues to participate in a trip to explore the moon. After finalize the plan and form the group that made the expedition travel details are finalized and scientists are fired in a rocket. The ship lands in the eye of the Moon (picture now famous) and scientists begin to explore the lunar environment. Do not take too long to find the inhabitants of the Moon, the Selenites, who capture them and bring them before the king. After discovering the way in which the Selenites can be overcome with the use of an umbrella, scientists manage to escape and return to Earth. There, after falling in the sea and rescue, are welcomed in Paris as heroes.
