In some games Bahamut actually is a god. And he wielded the title of Dragon King in practically every main Final Fantasy game. "white fatalis plays fair" its original appearance in mhfu it could time out the hunters by going into the air until the timer ran out at the last second
When mentioning the White fatalis, you missed out on something that nearly every MH player does: The Lore. Regular Fatalis can cleave continents in two with its tail. Yes, really. The Crimson Fatalis is even stronger. White fatalis, on the other hand, is not only a fully-grown Fatalis who is even stronger than a Crimson specimen, but according to the lore, IT CAN SUMMON THE OTHER TWO FATALIS SPECIES. If it was even thirty percent as strong in gameplay as it is in the lore, it would be pretty much immortal... which brings me to another thing about the Fatalis. The one you fight in MH1 apparently CAME BACK TO LIFE, sending another very large elder dragon running for its life, which the hunters then end.
Jamstained Streams Also it goes that way back in time in monster hunters life, the kingdom you find it in. The White Fatalis destroyed by itself, because it disapproved of hunters hunting monsters. As a symbol of this the W. Fatalis hunted the hunters and wore their armor in the same fashion the hunters do the monsters they had killed.
Well, you got a few details wrong there. It wasn't the hunting monsters, it was how much the hunters hunted. Almost every elder dragon species was wiped out, and then turned into a type of FLESH GOLEM by the ancient civilization. They also made an entire tower out of Kushala Daora.
Let's not forget the armor. It drives the wearer insane. So, if this dragon followed its lore to a T in game, not only would it almost be impossible to hunt, but no way in heck would you be wearing it to prove your victory (even though said hunter probably would because they were crazy enough to hunt it). Revenge from the grave.
Actually in FF!4 Bahamut's prison was known as Dalamud. Also, just another tidbit, in FF14's expansion Stormblood, summoners get to wield his power provided they meet the correct conditions during battle, conditions which CAN be charged up and stored for use. I've used it no less than a few times in current boss battles, namely against Shinryu.
To be fair, back in 1.0 most players knew it as, and I quote, "Gigantic ball thingy that keeps getting uncomfortably close to us and is going to kill us all, OhTwelveHelpUsAll"
That was one thing I loved about the Peter Jackson Hobbit films. The way Thorin shouts "Dragon!" in the prologue of the first film carries everything they need to know about why they should be completely afraid of Smaug.
darkwzrd4 Oscar has spoiled me. When I see a top ten video, I now expect the entries to be at least 3 minutes long. I saw a top ten video today that was 9 minutes long and I thought “that’s not enough time for each one”
I've waited so long for this top 10... and it was totally worth it! I especially loved the part dedicated to Spyro. I feel you there, Green Scorpion, to me Spyro deserve more attention. I can only hope that, with the success of Crash Bandicoot remaster, they will do another one dedicated to the first 3 Spyro games.
“Mari- I mean Parthanax” 😂😂😂 Also, as someone who’s first entrance to gaming was Skylanders, it’s a breath of fresh air to hear someone say “it’s good” and who’s a video game countdown creator.
Amazing video Scorpion :D From the start with every entry I sat there "Please a Warcraft dragon, please a Warcraft dragon" And when you finally showed Deathwing at number 3 I was just so happy! I think you're the only countdown maker I've seen who even thinks to talk about Warcraft, and that makes me so happy cause theres a bunch of awesome stuff in that series. Thanks for a really good video and I cannot wait to see more!
I was kind of hoping that Angelus from Drakengard would be included as that franchise is all about it's dragons and has a ton of lore relating to them but I get that not a lot of people played Drakengard.
Drakengard being obscure doesn't really fly anymore due to the public renown Nier Automata, and by extension Yoko Taro, recieved. Granted, I'm still playing through Drakengard 3(would argue Mikhail for a spot since I've never played the original on account of older players warning me against to because of the outdated gameplay-great story but horrible gameplay).
Julian Bruzon Well just because you know Nier doesn't mean you know Drakengard. Plus there are plenty of people who are fans of Automata who have even played or heard of the original Nier.
10. I love tiki she's so cute 9. I heard from many people that this is one of the greatest dark souls 1 bosses 8. It'as awesome to have a cute dragon in a super cute nintendo franchise 7. I have yet to face this thing in a monster hunter game. 6. You can't have a video game dragon list without mentioning Spyro himself love the PS1 3D platformer era. I'm looking at you QuarterGuy! 5. Fus Ro DAH! The power of dragonborn! 4. Best Dragon Type Pokemon EVER! 3. No list is complete with of deathwing. I remember this from warcraft 2 when i was a kid seeing this dragon back in the cataclysm expansion... damn he's huge. I can imagine him in heroes of the storm though. 2. Can't wait to see Ridley back in Metroid Prime 4 1. My second final fantasy summon. Bahamut is amazing.
For the longest time, I also had Rayquaza as my favourite Dragon type. But then Gen VI came in and right on the get-go, I was amazed by Pokémon's own combination of Loki's children and Hindu god Brahma, Zygarde.
There's some additional stuff about Bahamut's appearances in FF4 and FF10 that just add on to how amazing he is. In FF4, Bahamut is so powerful that the only good way to make sure you can beat him is to have your party gain the Reflect Buff to send Bahamut's own Megaflare back to him. The best way to beat Bahamut is to have him destroy himself. It's almost like a puzzle boss in a way. And in FF10, his human form is the one that guides Tidus at the beginning of the game so that he can go to Spira and help destroy Yu Yevon.
Spyro Reignited Trilogy is one of my Switch faves, and Toys For Bob did an awesome job re-establishing not only Spyro, but also made a new Crash game. Now we just need a new Spyro game!
Angelus from Drakengard 1/2 was such an awesome and incredibly underrated dragon. One of my favorites hands down, I would argue there is no video game dragon/human duo as good as Caim and Angelus. Also, I have a huge soft spot for grima. Just his design, presence, and the lore added in echoes makes him worthy of at least a mention.
OH DEAR GOD THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO I'VE SEEN IN QUITE A WHILE. Dragons will always be my absolute favorite creatures in media and i really thank you for putting this video together.
I remember the time I was playing skyrim and I was on Shadowmare. I got attacked by a dragon way over my level, so i ran inside... I went back out, and the dragon's corpse was on the ground, and Shadowmare just stood there casually. lol best horse ever.
In Final Fantasy 15, he's the Chief of all of the Gods (like Akatosh from The Elder Scrolls series and Zeus and Jupiter and Odin) and like a few other iterations of him, Bahamut exists in the game to give the main character power after a certain point in the game where there is a...shocking revelation from the villain of the game.
When I saw the post of Deathwing I knew this was going to be good, but I didn't know it was going to be so fantastic! All of the lore and learning some things about a couple of dragons I didn't know about was great. Thank you again for an amazing countdown :D
19:20 it happened. He got remake/remaster treatment and Dan's want a proper Sequel to that one. *despite the Sequel trilogy the Original Trilogy already has*
Fun fact fatalis is even it's real name. It is named after a cataclysmic event. Basically It saw humans wearing monster flesh as armor and starting raging.
I have no issues with this list. In fact; I left a like before even seeing the number 1 spot, and I have don't intend to take it back either. Great List, Green Scorpion.
That's a pretty solid list of gaming Dragons Green Scorpion. The only version of Bahamut, I'm surprised you forgot to mention in FFVII, was Bahamut Sin. Then again that version appeared in Advent Children, but maybe he can pop up in the Final Fantasy VII remake? Actually now I think about it, an advent children game or DLC expansion, could work, especially if Square-Enix insists on an episodic release. I think I would have thrown in some honorary mentions for other dragons, that couldn't make the list. Like Flemeth or the Archdemon from Dragon Age: Origins. Singe from Dragon's Lair, Angelus from Drakengard or The Dragon Commander in Divinty: Dragon Commander.
I was a little disappointed that he didn't mention Crisis Core because in there, Bahamut makes his entrance by shattering the sky itself and Bahamut Fury attacks you by cracking open the FREAKING MOON and using it to power a giant laser beam called Exaflare.
Thank you for giving Spyro some well-deserved recognition. My first video game was Spyro for the PS1, so this cute little purple dragon has a special place in my heart.
Nearly a year later: so it turns out that Ridley made it into the new Smash Bros game as a player character. Not even size restrictions can keep Ridley from stocking Samus.
Im glad tiki is on the list shes awesome one of the only units in awakening i trust to fight alone alongside robin and lucina and shes is a great character
Alduin did not destroy the previous word because he hated it but because he was made to do it. Before the world that we know was made there was an issue with rebuilding the world over and over since each time a lot of magic and power would be wasted. Alduin was given the role of world eater and the ability to preserve all the magic and power that was in the world so that it would not just scatter when the world ends. However after the current word was made it was "perfect" so there was no more need for Alduin and he went to sleep. After waking up he got sick of just sitting on his ass and decided that since he can not destroy it he will rule the world and you know the rest from the game. Also I hated the Alduin fight. It resembeled the other dragon fights too much and its way to easy. I mean was it too much to expect an epic fight from the Dragon King, first born of Akatosh the chief Aedra, given the role of freaking "WORLD EATER" by the gods???????
Also, when talking about the lore behind the Elder Scrolls' version of Dragons, this guy failed to mention that the Dragons once ruled over the Ancient Nords (before there were such things as Bretons and Imperials) as Gods in their own right with Alduin being the head honcho of the Dragon Gods. But because the Dragons, themselves (in Skyrim, at least after Atmora was obliterated by a literal ice age) were too lazy to actually *rule* the Ancient Nords, the delegated that responsibility to their Human second-in-commands, the Dragon Priests. Now, it isn't known whether it was due to an unruly Dragon or a tyrranical Dragon Priest, but near the end of the Merethic Era, the Dragon War started and the Ancient Nords began to rebel against their Dragon Priests and like the Empire when Ulfric and his "Sons of Skyrim" started agitating about the White-Gold Concordat and Ulfric, himself killed the High King, the Dragons couldn't just sit around and ignore that. So, they retaliated. Brutally. The Ancient Nords were losing at first, but with the help of Paarthurnax and Kynareth, who is basically the Goddess of the Weather, the Ancient Nords were granted the power to shout the same way as the Dragons do and suddenly, the Dragons started dying, too and then, the war was won when Felldir, in his "infinite wisdom", sent Alduin forward in time. And that's how the Nords finally got true ownership of Skyrim. So...yeah, the stuff he said about Dragons always being there isn't the only interesting thing about the Elder Scrolls' version of Dragons. Oh, and did I mention that Akatosh, the guy I mentioned before, and who is also the Chief Deity of the Eight Divines, is also the God of Time and the creator of all Dragons and *is* a Dragon, himself? There's also Peryite, the Daedric Prince of Order and Pestilence and is one of the creators of the diseases and plagues which exist on Nirn. Peryite is *also* depicted as a Dragon. Cool, huh?
Man, it would be awesome to have another game where you play as a dragon like Spyro. By that, I mean you are not a dragon in human form, a half-dragon half-human, I mean playing as a full-blooded, scaly , awesome dragon!
.... Wait. No League of Legends entry?? That's... shocking. Not so much comments here, but I DO love all your explanations about Bahamut. Reminds me why I LOVE your countdowns and how it serves as inspirational. That said, also... no Credits, Honorable Mentions or previews for next countdown? DOUBLE SHOCK...
I bet no preview because I think he takes his time of making that Patreon Month ready as scheduled, as we all know, is coming January 2018. But I woulda wanted to see end credits as well for the honourable mentions and music used in this video.
I would like to mention. That #1 has probably the best theme ever for it's "End of the world" scenario. The perfect "Answer" to the end of the plane of existance
Hey Scorpion, don't know if you've heard yet, and you're probably not gonna read this, but PlayStation just announced that they are remaking the classic Spyro series!!! We finally get to be dragons again!! :D
Hey i resent that comment about us being obsessive when we solo Dragon Soul. Those mounts are fucking awesome and any adventurer worth his gold would try to get them.
I would've thought that you of all people would've put someone like Shyvana or Aurelion Sol on this list. It was still a great countdown though with some excellent picks. Welcome back Oscar!
I was literally going to say something about Bahumut Lagoon if you didn't! You have no idea how happy that makes me that I'm not the only human who has played that game!
Game of Thrones doesn't have dragons. My main reason for saying this is because dragons are supposed to be highly intelligent life-forms and in Game of Thrones there quote-unquote dragons are not intelligent enough to even understand their adoptive mother. Really they're more wyverns then dragons a comparable body type is Skyrim dovah which are dragons because they are intelligent.
I have a dragon that IMO should have been quite high on this list: Grigori from Dragon's Dogma. You only see Grigori *three* times throughout the entire story, but that only adds to how imposing and powerful he is. Even when he isn't present in person, his presence is still felt in the world around you.
This was the video that inspired me to do my underused characters run of Awakening, where I use all the characters I normally don't, and the rest in roles/classes I haven't before.
I'm glad you pick Tiki on the list. as for MH Dragons, picking a dragon is not easy especially with so many regular Dragons you can hunt and then the Elder Dragons you can hunt. And each one does have an awesome lore backstory to them. Also TY for #1 being him.
One of my favourite dragon moments in media (not just games) was the Storm Hawks episode, where the team navigator says that the part of the map that says "Here be dragons" is just a decoration, and there aren't any dragons... and then they get attacked by a dragon.
Can't say White Fatalis wasn't a good choice though. It's not my favorite (personally it's Lagiacrus), and it wasn't even his (being Kushala Daora), but even I'll admit Even base Fatalis is much more threatening than Shaggy.
You kinda neglected the fact that Ridley not only killed Samus' parents right in front of her, but also ATE THEM! Again, right in front of her! KIlling and eating the parents of a child that's about 5 to 8 years old right in front of her. And in the Metroid manga (which is canon), Ridley taunts Samus about that fact. And personal opinion, LoS Spyro is my favorite version of the little dragon. Still somewhat arrogant and mischievous (especially with Sparx), but more level-headed and more willing to do the right thing. The original Spyro, I didn't feel like he was too heroic, just going off on in adventure because he was pretty much forced into the situation. With LoS Spyro, he's perfectly happy living a peaceful life with his adoptive family, but chooses to go off on an adventure to find himself and save the world. And even helps people along the way, as well as his enemies (i.e. Cinder), even if it's not a good idea. Kinda reminds me of Bilbo Baggins, another character played by Elijah Wood. Two characters who don't want to go off on an adventure and are perfectly happy in their peaceful lives, but choose to go on an adventure to save everyone out of the kindness of their heart.
The way you described Bahamut. You made him sound like the god of dragons! AND I LOVE IT!

I wonder what would happen if primal bahamut fights ancalogon the black from Silmarilion
Well you can’t beat the classics
I mean isn't that exactly what he is in the lore?
in 14 that's basically what the bahamut we encounter is
19:14

The fact Ridley is number two on the list is extremely satisfying due to your talk on "the dragon" character trope. A massive threat, but not quite the top of the totem. A funny parallel.

I think you're the only countdown maker I've seen who even thinks to talk about Warcraft, and that makes me so happy cause theres a bunch of awesome stuff in that series.
Thanks for a really good video and I cannot wait to see more!
Finally someone who doesn't mindlessly hate on Legend of Spyro trilogy
There are other countdown makers who doesn't hate that trilogy. The Phoenix King and me.
I hate when people call negative opinions "mindless", as if no one could ever have a valid reason to hate something you like.
I have played the entire legend of spyro trilogy. They were alright, but they slowly got worse as the trilogy went on.
I was kind of hoping that Angelus from Drakengard would be included as that franchise is all about it's dragons and has a ton of lore relating to them but I get that not a lot of people played Drakengard.
I played Drakengard, it was a good game. Some of the endings were damn freaky or depressing.
I would disqualify Mikhail for having the most annoying voice ever
Don't I see you in a lot of NicoB's comment threads?
"I know these pixels don't hold up but in the 80's, this...felt...HUGE!"
*Shows the GBA Dawn Of Souls remake from 2004*
10. I love tiki she's so cute
9. I heard from many people that this is one of the greatest dark souls 1 bosses
8. It'as awesome to have a cute dragon in a super cute nintendo franchise
2. Can't wait to see Ridley back in Metroid Prime 4
Tempest Swarm mega rayquaza is so op
White Fatalis is usually one of the last bosses you will encounter in Monster Hunter and sometimes she´s only available through(free) DLC quests.
she?
Seeth is far from the best DS1 boss, if anything hes the worst dragon fight, Kalameet is far better.
You should play Dragon's Dogma. Grigori is an awesome dragon
I'm glad Spyro made it on the list, and YES, I would love an HD Spyro trilogy!
Spyro Reignited Trilogy is one of my Switch faves, and Toys For Bob did an awesome job re-establishing not only Spyro, but also made a new Crash game. Now we just need a new Spyro game!
When two dragons are fighting there in a heated debate
*ITS GIF NOT GIF*
Angelus from Drakengard 1/2 was such an awesome and incredibly underrated dragon. One of my favorites hands down, I would argue there is no video game dragon/human duo as good as Caim and Angelus.
Also, I have a huge soft spot for grima. Just his design, presence, and the lore added in echoes makes him worthy of at least a mention.
OH DEAR GOD THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO I'VE SEEN IN QUITE A WHILE. Dragons will always be my absolute favorite creatures in media and i really thank you for putting this video together.
#LetUsBeDragonsAgain
Our wish came true. The remaster will arrive at September. Hooray for Spyro!!
it came true :D
Your wish has been granted!!!!!!!!!
I remember the time I was playing skyrim and I was on Shadowmare. I got attacked by a dragon way over my level, so i ran inside... I went back out, and the dragon's corpse was on the ground, and Shadowmare just stood there casually. lol best horse ever.
good news for Spyro. he is getting a remastered trilogy of his first 3 games like Crash on September 21st.
Oh we KNEW Bahamut had to be on here somewhere.
It was just a question of *when* we'd get to see the true dragon king.
I'd rather call him the Dragon God but hey, Dragon King sounds good too (there is a reason why he carries this title in almost every game).
Spyro: Reingited Trilogy hype is real
I have to say I stumbled upon this video and I couldn't like it enough! I look forward to watching more of your content! Cheers Scorpion! :]
Ah Spyro. When I saw reignited I jumped for joy. We get to be dragons again!
*despite the Sequel trilogy the Original Trilogy already has*
Holy crap, Oscar, that is some comeback. Imagine Bahamut as a persona
Edwin Santiago that’d be one epic persona...
Dang you forshadowed Ridley getting in smash AND Spyro reignited
Fun fact fatalis is even it's real name. It is named after a cataclysmic event. Basically It saw humans wearing monster flesh as armor and starting raging.
love the list....AND SOMEONE FINALLY MENTIONED SKYLANDERS IN SOME WAY ON A COUNTDOWN! look forward to more. :D
Just want to mention that Samus's freaking out in front of Ridley in Other M was completely inexcusable.
I wanna give whoever made your thumbnail a hug holy shit it's pretty
Thanks! I'm glad you like it!
M
Singe from Dragon's Lair, Angelus from Drakengard or The Dragon Commander in Divinty: Dragon Commander.
dont forget Bahamut Flare from Crisis Core
Happy Thanksgiving, GS, and awesome list!
P.S.: SERIOUSLY, THE PS1 SPYRO SERIES NEEDS A REMASTER, STAT!
Can't believe this vid predicted both the Spyro Remastered Trilogy and Ridley in Smash
I mean was it too much to expect an epic fight from the Dragon King, first born of Akatosh the chief Aedra, given the role of freaking "WORLD EATER" by the gods???????
maciekx10 wait do you play skyrim?
Cool, huh?
TheGreenScorpion: "Lets make anew Spyro game! Or at least a remake."
Me, watching this in 2021: "My friend, I got some news for you."
Man, it would be awesome to have another game where you play as a dragon like Spyro.
By that, I mean you are not a dragon in human form, a half-dragon half-human, I mean playing as a full-blooded, scaly , awesome dragon!
Who knew spyro is actually gonna get a HD remake. The Nostalgia while playing the HD remake is just the best thing ever
Us to. Shivanna, Magma Dragoon, even the Hydra from Kid Icarus Uprising would be hoorable mentions.
Spyro is getting the Crash treatment with remasters of the first three games. Looks like your wish and mine was granted Scorpion.
Fun fact, Bahamut shows up in Granblue fantasy with a rock anthem to boot!
I would like to mention. That #1 has probably the best theme ever for it's "End of the world" scenario. The perfect "Answer" to the end of the plane of existance
I called it. #1. NOT saying what dragon it is. But i think you already know who.
YAY!!!!!! Spyro's here... and I totally agree with everything you said about him.
Hey Scorpion, don't know if you've heard yet, and you're probably not gonna read this, but PlayStation just announced that they are remaking the classic Spyro series!!! We finally get to be dragons again!! :D
Now it's a good thanksgiving. Though it's about dragons instead of turkeys lol. Happy thanksgiving Greenscorpion and subscribers.
I have NO COMPLAINTS about #1!!!
Finally another top ten list. This is a wonderful thanksgiving.
Welcome back Oscar!
do you know grigori? there's a ton of lore behind him and he's a super badass dragon
I was literally going to say something about Bahumut Lagoon if you didn't! You have no idea how happy that makes me that I'm not the only human who has played that game!
Whenever I hear dragons now I keep hearing a nagging voice telling me to watch Game of Thrones
well too bad cause the "dragons" in GOT are wyverns a sub species of dragons.
MysteriousM game of thrones made them a mere pets!
16:08 *slow claps* Well done. You just did my nostalgia a huge favour.
Damnit, I really hoping Grigori from Dragon's Dogma would be on here!
I have a dragon that IMO should have been quite high on this list: Grigori from Dragon's Dogma. You only see Grigori *three* times throughout the entire story, but that only adds to how imposing and powerful he is. Even when he isn't present in person, his presence is still felt in the world around you.
Even if dont play monster hunter that much, you dont have a bad choice. Maybe not my favorite but the white fatalis is a good pick
...It feels dirty to say that the White Fatalis is the only Fatalis I like. I think I need to bathe in holy water or something now.
If the Wyverns count as Dragons, Seregios is my favourite
Good to have you back, Oscar! Loved the choices for the list, and on a side note, Tiki is soooooo cute!
THE GREEN SCORPION LIVES!!! HUZZAH!!!
Thanksgiving is the time of giving, Thank you green scorpion
Entry #10: Hooray, my FE Warriors main!
This was the video that inspired me to do my underused characters run of Awakening, where I use all the characters I normally don't, and the rest in roles/classes I haven't before.
*re-watches after E3*
35:15
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I'm glad you pick Tiki on the list. as for MH Dragons, picking a dragon is not easy especially with so many regular Dragons you can hunt and then the Elder Dragons you can hunt. And each one does have an awesome lore backstory to them. Also TY for #1 being him.
Paarthurnax Approves.
One of my favourite dragon moments in media (not just games) was the Storm Hawks episode, where the team navigator says that the part of the map that says "Here be dragons" is just a decoration, and there aren't any dragons... and then they get attacked by a dragon.
I never saw that episode. Which season? (I've only seen the first, or most of it rather)
I'm pretty sure it was a filler episode in season 2. That said, it did give some lore on the world, and dragons, so it was still worth it.
35:10 NOT ANYMORE, SON!!!!
Bahamut : Exists
Fatalis : *Am I a joke to you ?*
Before watching: I wonder which Fire Emblem dragon will be on the list, and how high it will be
Cool, so Tiki starts it off
I would've put Tiki higher, but to each their own. My number 1 would be the Gore Magala, though.
Can't say White Fatalis wasn't a good choice though. It's not my favorite (personally it's Lagiacrus), and it wasn't even his (being Kushala Daora), but even I'll admit Even base Fatalis is much more threatening than Shaggy.
News flash: Spyro is indeed getting his trilogy remastered, and by Toys for Bob, too!
So Oscar, quick question. Assuming you play MTG, where does Nicol Bolas stand?
When Deathwing was number 3, I knew that no one could beat him, after seeing who number 1 is, I was amazed at how destructive Bahamut is
You kinda neglected the fact that Ridley not only killed Samus' parents right in front of her, but also ATE THEM!
SaiyanGamer95 thank you for that LoS Rant!
The Gaming Knight It wasn't a rant. In fact, I wasn't even angry.
SaiyanGamer95 well whatever you call it, thank you!
The Gaming Knight It was just me explaining why I loved the Spyro from the Legend of Spyro series and why I prefer that one over the original.
My god these spiels at the end of these top tens give me so many chills!
