Mazda and Koenigsegg are literally the only two still innovating on the modern gasoline engine. Mazda with the Skyactive tech, and Koenigsegg with the Freevalve tech and 3D printed titanium turbos.
As those 4-rotor engines would be impossible to obtain, I wonder how Mazda fans have decided to have a go at building their own out of a pair of twin-rotor engines bolted together?
The first brand new car i bought was a Mazda6 2.0 estate, bought it in 2007, 11 years later and 110000 miles and shes still going strong as ever, shes always had a bit of tire noise at motorway speeds but i think thats why the clever folks at mazda gave her a cracking bose stereo system, Love the car to bits and when the sad day comes when she has to go theres nothing more certain to me that i will buy another Mazda
Mazda is one of the smaller Japanese companies that have taken engineering in specific areas up to an art form. Much like Yamaha, they have an innate ability to improve upon the ICE in ways others have never tried, and do it successfully. If anything, they have helped to prop up and support OTHER much larger companies (like Ford) with their superb engineering skills, all while staying small, humble and dedicated to their performance based foundation. And if anyone wants to point out the flaws and weak points of rotaries, Skyactiv or other Mazda engines......well, all production engines have issues! The simple fact that they brought a specific technology up to mass production levels and sold it for DECADES is pretty much a glowing endorsement of success. A fatally flawed design that cannot be made profitable will rarely make it past the prototype or test mule phase.
Great video its nice to see Mazda get some respect. I am happy as hell with my 2018 Mazda 3 2.5L Touring. Great little commuter car that's actually fun to drive.
There are no cool RWD cars anymore. Its a shame actually haha. I wonder when people are gonna be pised off that the majority of new cars are FWD. You got some OG's like Merc and BMW tho. Also, Kia's stinger comes with RWD . But again, that car is expensive. Rip affordable rwd's haha.
@@NinthDensity just business. Early '90s fwd small V6 powered cars were big. Look at the Ford Probe, was intended to REPLACE the Mustang!!! Thank God Ford listened to the people.
Hey Visio, you forgot one Engine: the FE ! i know i sayd it many times but i own a 626 Coupé with the 2.0L 16V Engine called FE3N. It is one of the very few 4 cylinder Big Block engines worldwide. (4G63 is also one of them)
I love this video. I am a Mazda fan and proud owner (for more than 10 years) of a '96 Protegé. Its not a fast car and maybe the Z5 Its not the best engine from Mazda, but is a very economic car and fun to drive.
As an owner of a Mazda 323 with a B engine, it's been expensive to maintain although it is flooded and old. As an owner of a Mazda 2 1.5 skyactiv G, it's great.
Mazda are certainly an innovative and very distinctive car company. I have fond memories of the MX3 which I understand at the time featured the smallest production V6 engine at 1800cc. It produced a lovely noise and was a beautifully smooth unit.
i had a xedos 6 with a 2.0 v6... after i installed a straight pipe from the catalitic converters it sounded like a race car even though it was really slow :D still much fun
When I had a V6 MX3 years ago. It was the envy off Celica, CRX, Civic owners with its sweet sounding V6. All it had was a remus exhaust and K&N induction kit. But it sounded lethal....
boy you forgot the king of mazda engines the legendary FE3 2.0L 16V capable of up to 500hp and the block of which was used as a base for the whole mzr and rf lineup not to mention the new 2.3L ford ecoboost
Besides sounding insane, the 787b is known for being one of the loudest race cars ever. The guys who make Forza confirmed it was the loudest they recorded (and they've recorded a lot of cars).
The K engine is really quite fun. however the supercharged 2.3 KJ-ZEM liter isn't your normal otto cycle engine. Its based on the millers cycle where the supercharger is used to compress air in the cylinder to decrease the compression losses. Really quite an interesting design
The B5 engine is good i don't see why most people don't acknowledge it a For person like me that owns a mazda 323 gtx awd the the four door version even if its not turbo yet its still a blast to drive it and it sound s great
Well At least the last one is right. RF-Complex is great engine but you could break it back down to the F-series family of engine. Same Engine block design used from approx 1982/3 till oh when was the last RF Diesel 2012. same family block design. Petrol variants. Used in Ford variants. for near 20 plus years. Hmm kept the company A float. Even the petrol version when they replaced it, with a lighter cheaper version they still kept it in production for select models and light commercials. Any thing after can trace it's roots to the F/R-series family of engines.
No mention of the amazing f2t engine that was in the mx6 GT, 626 GT and Ford probe GT from 1988-1992? Mine makes more power at the wheels than a 13btt does lol.
Coming from a diehard v8 guy...I think the rotary engine is a piece of art...theres nothing like them.
As a diehard lover of Doritos... such a legendary power plant made possible by my favorite chip shape really is legendary.
#DoritoPower4Life
Dorito jesus.!!!
I love Mazda for going the less common way so often. They always come up with technologies others declare for not doable or not profitable enough
Mazda and Koenigsegg are literally the only two still innovating on the modern gasoline engine. Mazda with the Skyactive tech, and Koenigsegg with the Freevalve tech and 3D printed titanium turbos.
I’m a simple man, I see Mazda 787B, I like.
The badest sounding le mans racer ever....

@@MrWombatty they get custom made ones
the 1.8L v6 is such a beast sounding engine
KL (2.5) sounds better :)
Mazda has always been an innovative company ready to try new engine technologies. That's why I like Mazda.

best mazda engines : spinning doritos
"Three spark plugs per cylinder" lol... per rotor I think...
Aaaaaaaaa
Per combustion chamber
redmr2na What would be also correct.
Per Spinning tumble washer!
Per greasy spinning doritos housing

2.5 touring "little" american spotted.
The 26B sounds more like F1 than F1 cars do
Dat irony
*Supercharged diesel Mazda* - now i've seen everything...
All Mazda engines are great
Have had 2 323gti over the years. Awesome engines, revved so quickly.
Anything with Wankel and Mazda is great
I LOVE THE K ENGINE IT'S SO UNDERRATED AND THE MX-3 IS BEAUTIFUL
it’s a shame that the mx3 didn’t came with RWD :(
but beside this, mazda is my favourite car manufacturer
There are no cool RWD cars anymore. Its a shame actually haha. I wonder when people are gonna be pised off that the majority of new cars are FWD. You got some OG's like Merc and BMW tho. Also, Kia's stinger comes with RWD . But again, that car is expensive. Rip affordable rwd's haha.
Even if you get a RWD car in this era it bound to be dumbed down by both weight and emission regulations.
That was after ford bought a huge stake in Mazda. I think it supposed to be their apology for discontinuing the rx7.

What about FE3N? FS-ZE? FS-DET?(Mazda familia sport20, Mazdaspeed Protege)
TheMadnnezz well.... the FS-DET is a bit of a glass motor.
The DET was rushed. They needed something quick so they put a turbo on the standard DE without upgrading internal parts
iamstd2 yeah so it wasn't a good motor, mine is having issue and any one I know theirs is broken.

Can you make a video of cars that follow the supercar formula? Very wide and very short (height) but are just normal vehicles

depends ... Some 13 Bt`s do easyly 1000 HP . My stock FC Turbo has 200 HP according to the paperwork - but is capable of 250 kph+ . Want a race ?
To show the 767b max out on a dyno without any RPM figures was cruel. I’ve never been so hurt by a UA-cam video.
Lets just say 30 k rpm LMBO but msn that thing screams
You forgot a very important innovative engine used in the 929. The Miller cycle engine.
